  • Hi

  • Amazing recipe!

I honestly tried two different ones and my brittle was pretty much just caramel.

I just used your recipe and I can see the difference already..

Thank you so much! I can't wait to take a bite!

  • Ok

  • Thank You :)!! How long does it take to cool??

  • @PaigeHottey It takes about a half-hour.

    --Betty :)

  • Ok i'll use that instead how long does it take to cool??

  • What can you replace the suryp with?

  • @PaigeHottey Most people use honey as a replacement.

    --Betty :)

  • more videos with the dog!

  • look's good i would eat some betty.

  • Can I use the darker coloured corn syrup for this?

    Thanks

  • Made this last night... My family loved it. Thanks!!!

  • I think I'm gonna have a toothache when I eat that... But IT LOOKS SO GOOOOOOD.... : )

  • I can use peanut butter?, I want to use instead of butter, is it possible?

  • @42shmuel81 I have never tried substituting peanut butter in the place of butter. Peanut brittle is a little tricky, and I think I would stick with the butter for this recipe.

    --Betty :)

  • How long does the peanut brittle last for?

  • @Snick1e It will stay fresh for at least two weeks in a closed container.

    --Betty :)

  • I watched this for 3 days and decided to make it last night (12/20/11) . I was woried about burning it on my first batch so it wasnt as dark as it could have been but my second batch is beautiful. Thank you for the fun recipe and your kitchen looks so welcoming.

  • @gsnap74 Easily for a couple of weeks in a closed container.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen I dont think your comment was to me.

  • my god your'e sexy

  • ilikethisvideothankyou

  • You're awesome! I love your accent. This brittle looks so good

  • ''for your people to eat''? are you saying that this is black peoples food??? *offended* hahaha nah joking

  • anything i can use besides peanut...like any other nut

  • @emac012345 You may use slivered or sliced almond, chopped pecans, chopped cashews, chopped pecans.

    --Betty :)

  • I would love to see you make this same recipe but sugar free is it possible? hope so....love rosemary

  • @gastricRose Hi Rosemary! I will have to study on that.

    --Betty :)

  • @gastricRose use splenda

  • is their anything you can use insted of corn syrup?

  • @747Lester When corn syrup is called for in a recipe, you can usually substitute honey.

    --Betty :)

  • @TylerFarrisTV Thanks for the great comment! Yes, the carrot cake was a long time ago!

    --Betty :)

  • Cute doggy and hmm 

  • @Cutiecupcake67 Thanks! That symbol comes up when I type my recipes in a Word document and use the smiley face emoticon. (This one --> :)

    --Betty :)

  • yum thanks betty you rock :)

    --Betty :)

  • Great recipe, but can I use vanilla instead of vanilla extract?

  • @linlovesyou1 Yes.

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • delicious!!! :D

  • @MaryK105 Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • My cat is the same way Betty, she loves sweets. Her fav is a fried donut with glaze or Blow Pops suckers. She also go crazy for a butter wrapped, she loves butter. I made the mistake of letting her taste a piece of butter left on the wrapper about 7 yrs ago, now she will get in the garbage if I don't put it in a baggie first and then in a garbage bag. What can you do when you love them like babies. LOL

  • @KissHope Pets really do strange things and have really crazy likes and dislikes. Remy likes Italian food and Mexican food. I don't think dogs are supposed to have a lot of spice, but he loves it!

    --Betty :)

  • can you use cornstarch instead of baking powder

  • @KiKiKli004 I don['t think cornstarch will give the desired effect. Baking soda will work.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen o well we can use baking powder right or dose it have to be baking soda

  • @KiKiKli004 You may use baking powder or baking soda.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen thanks

  • wow I cant wait to make this candy. Betty can you add pumkin seeds?

  • @baking2022 I think pumpkin seeds would be a little tough. You could make almond brittle, or use sesame seeds or macadamia nuts.

    --Betty :)

  • Cute dog!!!

  • @appelsultana We think he (Remy) is a cutie! Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • @dazzlebeautygirl13 Thanks for your sweet comment! I really appreciate it! I am delighted that you are finding some recipes that you can use!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty I used your recipe for this peanut brittle and I used honey instead of lite KARO SYRUP. IT CAME OUT GOOD AND WAS delicious, But it was too hard. What can I change to make it more soft..?

  • @hinsondayvid Maybe you could use half honey and half sugar syrup (or all sugar syrup). You can make sugar syrup by using half sugar and half water and heating it for a bit on the stove.

    --Betty :)

  • could you substitute honey for lite corn syrup ?

  • @hinsondayvid Yes, that should work fine.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, could you use honey in place of light corn syrup ??

  • thank you so much i made it today and it came out great.I try before other ways and it did work this one is so simple and easy xoxo

  • @princeindasky Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

I tried ur recipe and i wanted to know was the peanut brittle supposed to be thick or thin

  • @bettyskitchen

I tried ur recipe and i wanterd to know was the peanut brittle supposed to be thick or thin?

  • @faith2234 It should be as thin as you can make it, but you have to work fast to spread it thin.

    --Betty :)

  • bettyskitchen

I tried ur recipe and i wanterd to know was the peanut brittle supposed to be thick or thin?

  • Yummy! I wish I had some right now. Thank you for the video.

  • @huyked Thanks for the lovely comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

    Oh! You're very welcome. :)

  • betty can i supstitute the karo sirup with somethin ?? :?

  • @sa6k0t01 I think maple syrup would do well.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen maple syrup as in Grade B or the one for pancakes?

  • Hi Betty! I'd like to see a recipe for the Texas style red/pink colored peanut patties with a nice sugary texture like the ones made by Goddart. Boy do I miss those things!

  • @Kmuggle I'm not familiar with those, but I will check on them!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks Betty for this wonderful recipe! It was my first attempt at making candy today and it turned out good thanks to your easy no fail recipe!

  • @mslizzygirl1 Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Gorgeous..!

  • hmmm delicious

  • 7:15 :P it's a Sheep Dog

  • @ElDuderino909 Actually, it's a miniature poodle that doesn't look too miniature!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Hi betty, random question, what's the name of your camera? It's good quality visually, i'm planning on getting a camera and yours is amazing. :)

    -Angela

  • Loving Rick's multiple shots of the brittle! My dad does the same thing, all the different angles! LOL

  • That peanut brittle looks very delicious!

I wish I had the right cooking equipment to make your beautiful recipes :(

  • Hi im betty welcome to bettys kitchen :D

    lovee it every vidio

  • YummY, it's super easy, am so gonna make it this weekend but is the butter at the end necessary..??

    THANX Betty

  • My 2nd batch turned out MUCH better..it's DELISH!!!!!

  • Can I substitute the light corn syrup with something else?

  • @Emux33 I have never tried a substitution for corn syrup; maybe someone else will give an idea.

    --Betty :)

  • @Emux33 you can make your own corn syrup,

    you'll need:

    1 1/4 cups granulated sugar

    1/3 cup water

    Pot for boiling

Mix the ingredients in a heavy pot.

Bring the mixture to a slow boil.

Reduce the heat to a simmer.

Let the mixture simmer over low heat until the mixture gets syrupy. About 3 minutes.

    hope this helps :) xx

  • @oxRACH333Lxo Thanks for supplying this recipe--there were so many people who needed it! Thanks so much!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen no problem, i was in need of one too, so i thought i should share this as i found it very useful. glad to help, and thanks to yourself and rick for all the hard work you put in to make us such wonderful videos! ~Rachel :)

  • @oxRACH333Lxo THANX for sharing, I was looking for it..If I may ask, did you try the corn syrup recipe & did it work with betty's P brittle...?

    ^___^

  • @SHioo5iH no problem :) i have tried the syrup and it works, however i haven't tried it with betty's brittle, i plan on making it tomorrow because i only got ingredients today, but i'm sure that it will, as i got the recipe from a very reliable source, so i dont see how it wouldn't. however, if you do try it i'd appreciate your feedback, thanks and good luck! ~Rachel :)

  • made it earlier turned out great. made for mom birthday :)

  • @babenes Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • the dog loves sweet? You can see it!

  • Shall try this today!

  • Would you store these in the freezer or fridge if they were too much to eat all at once?

  • @liltwinshedevil They will keep for a long time in a covered container in your pantry. It is not necessary to refrigerate or freeze them, but you may.

    --Betty :)

  • just burnt mine. :\

  • @smilekylee It changes very quickly from done to over-done.

    --Betty :)

  • eek what did i do wrong???

mines be cooling for 15 minutes and its still kinda flexible not hard at all-still very stringy! its also really yellowish.

  • @Billabonglova It sounds like it needed to cook just a bit longer.

    --Bettty :)

  • Hi Betty,

I would like to know if there is someting else than the cornsyrup that I can use, because over here in the Netherlands it is very hard to find. I was looking for this recipe and came across quite a lot, but all with the cornsyrup in it. And I really would like to make it, because it looks scrumptious!!!!! Thank you.

  • @sanronjoy I have never made this with another type of syrup. You might consider golden syrup, but I have never used that.

    --Betty :)

  • WOW Betty! you've really outdone yourself for Super Bowl weekend. Thanks for ALL your hard work! Happy Super Bowl Day!

  • Betty, lol yep, i did burn it ( i think) i broke it up and the taste was really bitter. I tossed it in the trash. I'm making my 2nd batch right now. Wish me luck.

  • HI Betty, I just made mine. Mine came out a lot darker than yours. Did I cook it too long? That's what I'm thinking. I continued on making it. By the time I was putting it on the cooking sheet it was really hard to get out of the pan = ( . I bet I cooked it too long?? I'm gonna make another batch right now until I get this right lol. Do you think I cooked it too long. It was fine up until I put the peanuts in & that's when I noticed how dark the color was. Thank Betty! Here I go again ; ) TX!

  • @ohpineapples Yes, it moves really fast from an amber color to darker. You must remove it from heat immediately when it gets done, otherwise it will harden up and it will be darker.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen HI Betty! Good News = ) I made another batch&it turned out really, really good!! yippy! I lowered the heat on my stove&cooked it slower & kept a very close eye on it &it turned out great! It came off the cookie sheet real nice too & broke up really good. I gave it to my husband since that's his favorite candy & he is eating right now : ) 2nd batch came out so good that I made another batch.I'm bagging that batch up & I'm giving it to my Mom tonight as a gift at dinner. Thanks!

  • @ohpineapples I'm glad you got it to work! Thanks for your great feedback!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Hi Betty = ) The 2nd batch came out very nice. My husband took his tupperware bowl of peanut brittle out to his man cave.I bet it's half gone or more lol. He did say that it was the best he has ever had from any store. He likes the candy a lot.My Mom liked hers too.I think I burnt the 1st batch b/c I was watching U on youtube on my laptop on my kitchen counter & I took my eyes off the boiling sugar&that's when it got to dark. I'm glad it all worked out tho. Will make it again ; )

  • @bettyskitchen 2nd batch turned out Great! Thanks! Can you believe I went to the grocery store to buy what I needed & I looked forever for the Karo. I finally asked someone & so she asked someone & they asked someone else & that girl said " will if you don't see it we don't have any or must be out or don't carry it". What grocery store runs out of Karo?? lol I always see it lol. Bottom line, nobody helped me find it.They were lazy. I said "oh never mind, I'll fine it". I found it by the spices

  • @ohpineapples I just made this too! Mine turned out more of a yellowish colour...not really amber lol! Thankfully it's with ingredients I have around the house so it's not a waste of money-not like I went out and had to buy it all just for this recipe! I should invest in a nice candy thermometer!

  • @Billabonglova I'm glad yours came out.I was telling Betty that I took my eyes off the boiling sugar while watching her on my laptop in my kitchen trying to follow along & that's when it started to burn. It was my fault that's for sure lol. My 2nd batch came out really, really good. So today we have that to eat while watching the Superbowl = ) I will make this again. It's good. Again, I'm glad yours turned out good. = )

  • @ohpineapples I made a 2nd batch today as well and it turned out SOOO good!!!! I'm eating some as we speak & bringing it over to my inlaws place for the game tonight :D

  • @Billabonglova That's good your 2nd batch turned out good : ) Maybe the 2nd time is the charm lol Smiles!

  • Wow..my husband will love me today. This is his ALL time favorite treat to eat = ) We live very close to Disneyland&my daughter&all her friends/cousins all go to Disneyland all the time &they have the cutest old fashion candy shops there. When she goes my husband always has her bring back Disneyland's Peanut Brittle. I'm leaving for the store in a few minutes for the Karo&will for sure make this today. He will be so happy I'm making this for him! I hope I do a good job today making this. Thanks B!

  • I will def. be making this this weekend. Really looks like my Grandmas brittle. Thanks for the recipe Betty! Keep rockin' it out in the kitchen!

  • This looks so good Betty. I am sure that this wouldn't last very long here with our son and daughter around. .....take care, Richard :-)

  • ill give Karo a miss, but these sure do look yum.

  • Betty! i was thinking today and i realised how proud you should be because there are so many cooks all over the internet, on youtube and on blogs and out of all of them you are getting so many veiws! keep up the good work!!

  • i tried it today and surprisingly amazed its yummy! but nobody still beats a grilled cheese sandwich lol!

  • Does it matter what kind of sugar? Can I use brown sugar? or has to be white?

  • Thanks Betty! I going to try this tonight! I love peanut Brittle!

  • love homemade peanut brittle! i did burn myself with corn syrup one time though... SO not fun. be careful if you decide to make this!

  • That is a beautiful brittle Betty! Interesting how the baking soda reacts with it and then I see tiny holes in the end product. Your dog is so cute! Yes, they do get to know just what you are saying...lol

  • Looks really good. Think I'll try this recipe but substitute cashews in place of the peanuts. My husband & I both love cashews! Bet it will be delicious! :)

  • Your dog is too cute!

  • your doggie added that extra special touch to your tutorial Betty, feature him/her more often !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Betty I love all your recepies. Your going to make me fat I want to try all the recepies hahahahahaha thanks. Am joking about the fat part.

  • I used to make similar brittles, using a microwave. Once it was cashew, another it was almonds.

  • @KBAFourthtime I love cashews & almonds! I think I'm going to have to try that. YUM!!

  • @dearchelle09 You know what corn syrup I use? Light, with molasses. And I use a micro.

  • I wish I wasn't allergic to nuts. These look really yummy =]

  • @lil twin shedevil Make it without any nuts. The candy part is really good on it's own. Growing up in the south peanut brittle was/is everywhere. I'd get into trouble for eating around the peanuts and throwing them away. The candy part is a buttery vanilla candy. Very satisfying salty/sweet combo.

    Thanks for the video, Betty!

  • @LeakFreak Hmmm, maybe I will! Thank you =]=]

Do you think it would taste good with seeds?

  • @liltwinshedevil You're welcome. Yes, seeds would work (Betty has a sesame seed brittle on her channel.). You'll have to play with the amounts. Sunflower seeds would be really good! =~þ..

Pumpkin seeds may be good too. I know in Egypt folks eat watermelon seeds like pumpkin seeds. I've never tried them but, reading about them online most say they taste like pumpkin seeds.

  • wow, yummmmmmmyyy, goin to make it right now,but im not gonna break mine, ill just eat the whole thing like that.thanks alot Betty

  • great video. your dog is so cute.

  • Hiya Betty, this looks delicious! I think someday I should make this, also nice shirt. :]

  • lol.. did someone turn on ur faucet in the beginning of the video? =)

  • @IanzGurrl I heard that too. But I think it was the ice maker. I have the same Whirlpool and it sounds like that. Before the water sound you can hear what sounds like the ice falling into the hopper.

  • @IanzGurrl It was water running into the icemaker in the refrigerator.

    --Betty :)

  • The peanut brittle looks delicious! Thanks for posting, I'm definitely going to try this =D

  • Looks Great!!!

  • Looks yummy; you're awesome indeed.

  • Love all your recipes! By the way your ring is beautiful:)

  • looks sooo good! im going to try it!

  • will it still taste good if you use splenda? you could probably use cashews and or almonds too huh.. i looove cashews..

ps.. I LOVE your shirt.. its nice and long looks warm too

  • Oops I read your other comments LOL you answered it already.

  • Betty I am avoiding anything that has dextrose in it as I am training for a fitness comp. Are you saying that karo has no dextrose? It's not something we use here very often in Australia so I am not sure about it.would maple syrup be ok to use or is it too thin?

  • @Fitange Not sure about the dextrose question, but we can get all the Karo products here in Australia.

  • you should be on Food Network

  • can i use maple syrup instead of corn syrup?

  • @lefty43090 I have never used maple syrup in this recipe. If you are concerned about high fructose corn syrup, Karo baking products (Karo Dark, Karo Light and Karo Lite) contain no high-fructose corn syrup. Karo is a brand of thick corn syrup made from a concentrated solution of dextrose.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks alot :)

  • @lefty43090 high fructose corn syrup is the same as sugar its just concentrated more... I think. It's nothing to be too scared of, as long as you dont use a lot and eat it often

  • Betty thank you so much for demonstrating this. My Grandma passed away 7 years ago and she used to make peanut brittle for me all the time. Now I'm away at school And I can't wait to try this when I get home. :)

  • betty your dog is sooooo sweet

  • @brawyn777 My sweet dog turns soooo bad when I start shooting a video!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty is there any substitute for corn syrup? Like honey, agave nectur etc?

  • @DimeDiva321 I have never used honey or agave nectar in this recipe. If you are concerned about high fructose corn syrup, Karo baking products (Karo Dark, Karo Light and Karo Lite) contain no high-fructose corn syrup. Karo is a brand of thick corn syrup made from a concentrated solution of dextrose.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty I have a ?. I want to make this but I don't have a candy thermometer. My ? is, is it absolutely necessary to use a thermometer and if so are they expensive?

    Thanks

  • @oyaboy1978 For this recipe, I think you will do fine if you follow the cooking times, but for many candies the temperature is really crucial to having a successful outcome. Candy thermometers are not expensive (but, like everything else, I buy kitchen gadgets when I find them on sale!)

    --Betty :)

  • betty i've tried it with cinnamon sprinkled on. the maker sprinkled it on just after she put it onto the buttered pan... i asked why not in the mix because i thought cinnamon was already in it... it just looked that way. she only said she liked it sprinkled on top :) so have you or anyone else ever tried it with cinnamon?

  • You did it yet again, Betty!

I don't know about you but I loved to cook but I hate to clean up! Sometimes I wonder if it's all worth it! I think I have no choice, my husband would not be a hppay camper if I didn't feed him well!

    Love and Hugs!

  • @BeautyOnTheRun the good thing is that he can feed himself as well...

  • @abbybo1989 Ya think? Sometimes he will complain that the meat is tough and it takes him too long to cut it up so the next time I make it I will cut the meat up before I put the plate down in front of him just so I don't have to hear it. Next thing youi know I'll be feeding it to him! Haha!!!

    Love and Hugs!

  • Really looks good!!

  • I love this channel Betty, I'm from Brazil..

  • mmmmmm mmmm mmm so good i made some after following you recipe its lovely (please could you say how much 1cup is in gramms because i had to guese what to put into the mixture as i only have weghing scales. it would be awsome if you could do that in further vids also) thanks betty love your videos youre stuff tastes LOVELY
