  • anyway,in the end ps1 won the 32bit war

  • nnnngaAAAAAAAH SEGA!!!

  • xbox>fagstation

  • hey sega guees who is alive and in buisness today.

  • @SlasherV8 and guess who failed (because of sony) after 2-4 years after this ad... :)

  • Comment removed

  • @shade1232011

    The Dreamcast didn't fail.

    We failed the Dreamcast.

The stupid mass of people bought ps2's without knowing anything about the Dreamcast.

  • @Di0g0ALEX ikr they were idiots

  • @shade1232011 He is right. PS3 would sell more than 360 and Wii if it wasn't for the internet, because the PS1 sold PS2 - Nothing to do with PS2 skills.

Now the internet changed it all: "You are the best? Then let's compare."

  • @PersonaBrazil Well to be fair, the Xbox 360 had a 1 & 1/2 year head start on the PS3 and when the PS3 launched it was way too expensive and had almost no exclusives. Perhaps, if Sony stuck to their business strategy of the PS1 and PS2, and made a small inexpensive machine, they would have sold more, but Sony really wanted to push blu-ray over HDDVD. In actuality, Sony winning the format war with blu-ray may end up paying off more in the long run than having the most successful console this gen.

  • @Bloodthr0e The Dreamcast was launched about 2 years before the others and guess what? So that's not an excuse.

It's useless pay IGN to take your side and to outshine the others because, unlike before, the real deal is on the screen - no cheap tricks allowed.

Blue-ray vs. HDDVD? What a pointless war since both are dying - let's be honest, no physical media can match 1TB HD. Just pay, download, and you're done. That easy.

  • @PersonaBrazil You really don't know anything about console wars. The dreamcast did have a head start, but they also had a bad reputation from the saturn, 32x, and sega cd. So you can't compare that to the Xbox 360. The 360 has sold 61 million units, while the PS3 has sold 58 million, but the 360 had a head start, a 70% failure rate forcing people to buy another 360, and the PS3 was too expensive at first. Right now the PS3 is selling more units per years than the 360. And Blu-ray is not dying.

  • dreamcast is one of the best consoles

  • @Di0g0ALEX we failed the saturn

  • @Di0g0ALEX It's because the PS2 had a DVD function. And wrong marketing. In poor countries they couldn't afford a console and a dvd player. So they bought the ps2. So they did clever marketing. But from the power and how flexible it was, the Dreamcast would have been better. Also EA didn't make any games for SEGA because of the delay on the Saturn. So most wanted a PS1 back then what gave Sony even the power for this marketing. So blame EA and Sony for SEGAs Console Death.

  • @DUnknownSX

In the early days people were using the ps2 to watch movies.

I can't belive that we lost to a DVD player.

    Consoles=Gaming? guess not

  • @Di0g0ALEX It somehow would be ironic if Sony loses to SEGA in the future due to a new Disc Format.

  • @DUnknownSX

    Yup xD

  • the people doing this commercial should have done their homework, yeah the saturn had two processors but the playstations one custom processor was able to do polygons better and it had more power, if they were able to get both of the saturns processors working together, its called parallel processing, the saturn still would not have been as powerful than the playstation, but i was a sega fanboy so it took my a while to finally get the plystation

  • go sega! when i saw this ad it scared me, but later on in life it compells me to get a bad ass saturn!

  • @SNESGuy16 if you actually watched the video you would see he was saying that the sega saturn could fly and the playstation couldn't

  • Comment removed

  • anyone got 400 bucks for a Saturn?

  • I think Mario 64 would have a few words to say 'bout this.

  • It's awesome how sega bashes it's competition in commericals.

  • @Blustorm1 Yeah I LOVE how he said "you're not ready". When he dropped that line i was just like OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH.

  • Sega forgot to put "Blast Processing 2.0" in the Saturn, that's why the Playstation cleaned house.

  • Except the plaything kicked the sega saturns ass

  • "one processor" witch they used on the ps

  • 0:24 for the sega scream

  • Fly, PlayThing, fly. You're not ready.

  • @0:10 the font of the PS3 logo? :s

  • waait waait waaaaait......."there has never been a game where you can fly freely in 3d"......i have bunch of complaints about that one 1: in nights you did not really fly...freely it was more of 2d flying game 2:ps1 HAD 3d flying games....where you could REALLY fly into every direction and no ps1 did not have nights..... .......................................................... it had metal gear solid Final fantasy 7,8,9 Crash bandicoot games klonoa shin megami tensei games so yeah.shutup sega
  • @apinafilms Talking about launch titles. eh, nights was free flying. Just not as much as later ps1 games.

  • @apinafilms ps1 was a shitty piece of crap, with out piracy it would not have won that gen, it was WAY weaker that saturn and it was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY under nintendo 64.

  • @deraickripper umm no? please do some research b4 talking BS please -___-'

  • @deraickripper PS1 is the best console ever so you can go fuck yourself.

  • @mrMehumatti shitty controllers that needed to be fixed (after copying), the weaker graphics, a weaker multiplayer, and most games were copy of the competition. ps was SAVED by metal gear, resident evil and final fantasy.

  • @deraickripper go eat shit you worthless sega bitch

  • This is an awesome ad.

  • lol and the ps1 kicked Saturns arse..

  • i like to use porn power up in super mario bros 2...

    however eat shit now sega..

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    WHY PLAYSTATION!

WHY PS AND SEGA CANT BE FRIENDS?

  • Dear Sega, if you thought you were so bad ass, then why do we see Sonic on Nintendo now?

  • @bowlofarthritus because sega does not host console's anymore and they just sell sonic to anyone stupid enough to play new gen sonic shitfests

  • I knew it, Sega thought better graphics = Better games, it's not like that. Who cares about processing power, the PS2 had weaker processing power than the Xbox but who had the better games?

  • EEEEEEUUUUUUAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH-SEGA!

  • It's Buckethead! The music!

  • The ONLY good saturn commercial ever made... if only they had learned from it...

  • xd today sega is working with sony

and sega didnt made a new console

    so they fucked up

  • Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! Lookin ass

  • Fastforward about 8 years

Sega: ahem, sorry about earlier but we'd really like to release are stuff on the PS2. We financially crippled ourselves you see, turns out we broke too many Dreamcasts trying to make them fly

  • I did love the saturn, but it seems sega ads are always full of themselves,

Later I got the psx, and relize sega saturn stop making games.

  • Take that Plaything you stupid pile of shit!

  • i feel kinda bad for the idiots who saw this and dropped their saturn off a huge building thinking it could fly

  • @megaman12358 That was a PlayStation that he droped "sigh"

  • SEGA was the best at commercials. Playstations at all the thrift stores are all broken. My Saturn has worked without flaw ever since 1997. Best quality, and also the best games (in Japan mostly, though. Idiot Stolar. Screwed up U.S. Saturn.)

  • @dogeymon83 I got a PSX from around that same year, still working without flaws as well.

It has even been modded when it was brand new, to play copies.

To me that proves PSX is a rigid console, you just got to take care of it by not smashing it into walls,

    that's all.

  • Sega had this reputation of trolling the hell out of its competition back in the day. For all the good it did to them.

  • @TheWebMaster179 yeah thats what i love about sega commercials

  • so, if the psx didn't have the power, why is the playstation brand still going?

  • @synaesthesia2010 Because Sega botched the Saturn launch, putting it out four months early without warning anyone and only having it available at a very few stores at first. This resulted in the biggest retailers ( like wal-mart) refusing to stock the system at all and pimping its competition. Kinda hard to sell systems if nobody can find one. The Dreamcast succeeded greatly, but Sega had lost so much money on the Saturn that they simply could not afford to support it for very long. Too bad.

  • @bartsimpson83 or maybe playstation games had better playability. i know all about the problems developers had programming saturn games and how sega fucked up on the marketing, but the problems with splitting the programming between more than one processor created problems that could have affectd the overall quality of the games.

  • @synaesthesia2010

You ever played some Saturn games? Playability isn't really a problem. The hardware was doubtless more convoluted than it needed to be, but it didn't suddenly break the quality of Saturn games. Half assed, lazily done ports by developers who couldn't or didn't care enough to understand that the Saturn and the Playstation don't work in exactly the same way, are another matter.

  • The end actually creeped me out.

  • I'm gonna strap my PS2 to my Saturn so it can fly around and launch missles. Of course, I'll control the entire operation via my PS3.

  • @WebVMan but you'll get hacked with the PS3! XD

  • @WebVMan PS user? GTFO

  • If you pay attention, the guy that threw the Playstation off the building apparently fell off as well.

  • "There's never been a game like Sega Saturn's nuts!"

  • sega... siempre disparando contra la competencia. primero nintendo y después sony...

  • They were mocking Sony's "U R Not (red)E" slogan from that time. I also remember their "Enos Live(s)" which nobody new wtf that meant, lol.

But Sega's commercials were notorious for mudslinging at the other systems. Which was pretty sad because Nintendo and Sony rarely retaliated in the same way, probably because they never felt threatened enough by Sega to do so.

  • The best games i ever play (Me and 100.000.000 gamer's)

    Metal Gear Solid (Playstation).

    Resident Evil (Playstation).

    Silent Hill (Playstation).

    Winning Eleven (Playstation).

    Parasite Eve (Playstation).

    Tomb Raider (Playstation).

    mmm sega saturn... VIrtua Cop?

  • @MatuTechs You obviously know nothing about the Saturn. And by the way, Playstation's cool too.

  • @MatuTechs Troll? I think yes.

  • @MatuTechs

Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, and plenty of other games were FAR superior on Saturn.

  • @MatuTechs Playstations an awesome machine one of my favs...but you cleary never really played a Saturn as its got a shit load of good games...plus the fact that Resident Evil and Tomb Raider so go and check out the Saturn again.

  • @MatuTechs Final Fantasy VII (Playstation)

    Had to be said.. :P

  • @jowrab id rather come across as rude and shameless any day of the week, to be nice is so vain.

  • I hear Buckethead.

  • Lol.. last i recall Playstation had more kick ass game that saturn..

  • @redeye117 Thats debatable...Playstion games havnt aged well due to some truely awful 3D. Saturn on the other hand had a load of 2D games that still look beautiful so yeah maybe back in the day when people loved shitty 3D then PS1 was better... but now Saturn looks alot better as it still holds up and has a ton of really decent 2D games.

  • @Johfunu That's kind of bullcrap, PSX can do beautiful 2D games as well.

    Ever played Rayman for example?

  • @godverdegodverdomme Sure but what i was saying is it was marketed as a 3D system while Saturn was pretty much 2D dedicated until they threw in a crappy 3D chip when they learnt about Sony's new machine. Raymans an awesome game.

  • @Johfunu Yes.. But to say Playstation hasn't aged well? I cannot agree with that,

we have to look back at consoles in their rightful position, not comparing them to today's graphical standards.

The "crappy" 3D PSX has, is in fact state of the art in it's own rightful era.

And to be honest, I still find some of the more powerful games to look pretty damn good on it.

  • @godverdegodverdomme Each to there own i guess :)

  • If you pay attention, youll notice that the arms are falling with the playstation. so this guy must have thought that a psx would save him if he jumped.

He would still be alive today had he gotten a saturn like all the other ads told him.

  • What gives. You can find Sega on the Wii and Playstation 3

  • Makes me want to dig my Saturn out of my closet...

  • 13 people tried to use their playstation as a plane engine.

  • Kinda funny to see that and then play Ace Combat 2 on PS1 xD

  • LOL, do we still have commercials like these anymore?

I guess not because fanboys would be blasting each other on message boards and comments if they do.

  • @DragONheart27X So.. Nothing would change if they did?

  • I was like jr high when ps and Saturn came out but I don't remember seeing or hearing people talk about it. Now to their credit Sega finally got it right with the dreamcast a very underrated system but by then it was too late :(

  • Uh, my Playstation won't run Ace Combat 1-3? Or Colony Wars? Seriously?

  • @WebVMan Yeah but it won't run NiGHTS! Well...your PS2 might.

  • 12 people will die with a falling playstation xD

  • ofc ps1,my personally favorite console, saturn and n64 were good but most ppl said ps1 was the best and i like it too!ps1 had the biggest library, and tha's why sega failed,if it had more good games,it would be king, that's why ps1 is the best!ps2 kicked ass too but i like ps1 a bit more.and don't forget all those legendary classics:mgs, driver, tomb raider, oddworld, gta, gran turismo, rayman, crash, spyro, tekken and much more! :)

  • @sm1carnage maybach , ferrari , buggati , pagani , rolls royce

top of theyre class cars , last on sales ...

an audi s3 ( which is a very good car ) is "better" of the above mentioned just becase it sells like cookies ?

  • hahaha u should know , when a console talks about another is loosing , LOOK SNES , SATURN , N64 , XBOX , XBOX360

    RIP LAMERS

  • Thanks for listening to my story, haha.

Still really miss the days of Sega. Golden moments when they were at the top.

  • I remember when the new consoles came out (I am now 23), and I went in to buy a Sega Saturn at Harvey Norman, I think, because it was time to upgrade from my Sega Megadrive.

We got there, and I played the Tomb Raider game that they had to demo the console, and my dad persuaded me just in time to get a Playstation instead.

I am now up to a ps3 and could not be more happy that he stepped in.

Strangely enough, I never bought Tomb Raider, instead buying Motor Toon Grand Prix 2. & it wasn't 2 player!

  • DAMN sega were ASSHOLES back then i mean HAVE MERCY!

  • @TornadoWoodpecker

Atari 2600 was far harder to program for... you had to program every line of graphics in the game. Hundreds of lines of code for graphics for a few lines of game code.

  • Never been a system...thats been so hard to program for!

  • Fuck yeah, the 90s.

  • in this hands from a boy has a dreamcast!! 0:13

  • SEGA!!!!

  • the website is IGN

  • 0:21 Looks like the guy is falling too...lol

  • Wow, im mean Nintendo is one thing, BUT YOU DONT FUCK WITH SONY

  • "Doesn't have the power to do it", eh? Man, Sega was delusional back in the 90s.

  • despite all that the playstation still whipped its ass so looking back at it now the jokes really on them beacause after the short life spans of the saturn and dreamcast sega left the console making buisness and sony is still thriving in it

  • Comment removed

  • no more saturn world whaaaaa :( :( :(

  • im going to that website

  • nnnnnnnnnNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAA..SEGA!

  • *Nintendo releases Super Mario 64* Sega:FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUU

  • @mardfet *Sega releases Dreamcast nd Sonic Adventure* Nintendo: FFFFFUUUU

  • and now sonic is on PS2

  • oh poor old sega, so full of dreams when it's heart was bleeding... even if i hate sony i got to admit... the psone was way better

  • @GamingPalooza PlayStations one processor is more powerful than Sega Saturns Multiprocessors and PlayStation has alot of good games not just one good game like Nights. Sega Saturn can suck PlayStations processors cock!

  • @pspuser65 The playstation's processor is not more powerful than the Saturns. It doesn't have to be, because the Playstation's 3D is handled by dedicated graphics hardware, leaving the processor nothing much but number crunching for physics and keeping track of scores and things. The saturn's two processors had to do a lot when it came to 3D cos the gfx hardware was designed for 2D games

  • @GamingPalooza And you can suck our Solid Snake.

  • @TheHayashina

    Cry to your mother.

  • Remember PlayStation didnt kill Saturn Bernie Stolar did

  • @RonCrafton1989 its funny too becuse bernie got fired from sony and sega hired him great job sega lol

what a dumb dip shit he did do a good job with dreamcast buy droping dreamcast price from 250 too 199 price on launch but all ways screwing sega and stores with realse dates

  • NiGHTS!

  • @PSGamerX Yeah whatever.

  • the sega saturn did not really get good sells because at E3 they were introducing it and they were already selling it on that day of E3 so yea it was a surprise for america

  • This commerical is correct in every way, in fact i cant wait to go out and buy my own Sega saturn 3.... wait a moment

  • I loved the Sega Saturn, and I still think it was the best 5th gen console. It's a shame the PlayStation mutilated it in terms of sales.

  • Well sega I'm pretty sure if we droped your system of a building it wouldn't fly either

  • @JohnDoe2089 Hahaha

  • @JohnDoe2089

Most likely not. However, there is a phrase in the aviation industry that I will paraphrase here: "Anything will fly- if you get it moving fast enough and point it in the right direction."

In theory a PS1 could fly if you chunked it hard enough :)

  • @hzzlrp10 Wouldn't that just be a really long fall?

  • @godverdegodverdomme

Not quite. It would "fly" for a bit before earth's gravity overcame the PlayStation's inertia. It's the same reason that "What goes up, must come down" both goes up and eventually comes back down.

  • @hzzlrp10 Yes, unless ofcourse it were chucked into orbit. But the console wouldn't make it through before disintegrating.

  • @godverdegodverdomme

Two very good points. However you must admit that any contraption capable of slinging a Playstation in to orbit would be a sight to see in itself.

I would definitely get tickets to watch that happen.

  • @hzzlrp10 Hahahah, word man :}

  • @JohnDoe2089

    win comment is win

  • Yeah, with only one processor. The Saturn only had one processor that handled all the 3D while the other two did 2D and sound and had nothing to do with 3D. Saturn also couldn't do transparent graphics in 3D. Sorry the whole "do the math" thing didn't work for Jaguar and certainly didn't work for Saturn. The Playstation was simply more powerful and it showed.

  • @OldsXCool

not really, technically the saturn was superior to the psx, but what sony did have were the libraries that allowed nearly anybody to easily make a game for it; to get decent stuff out of the saturn simply needed better proggers starting from scratch & more time.

and since humanity has always chosen the simple solution...

  • @mazonemayu While I agree that the PS was way easier to program on, it can't be denied that PS also had more ability. Multiplat games are not a fair comparison since once console is usually favored. Look at Saturn's best looking exclusive games compared to PS. Sega's teams developed Panzer Dragoon 2, Virtua Cop/Fighter, Sega Rally, Daytona CE which while they looked great, it was nothing PS couldn't do and possibly better. Not saying that Saturn was crap, I own one, but it was underpowered.

  • @fuccthatshitnigga what do you mean? Sega dident sellout Sony or nintendo

  • Sega always had balls. they went up against NES and SONY...........and 20 years later sold out to both companies

  • @haydenstreater

I was not saying the PS1 was a rubbish console. I liked it and the games it had to offer, I just remember that when I was younger quite a few people I knew always use to say that the PS1 was more powerful than the Nintendo 64 and indeed the Sega Dreamcast. That's all I was saying. But the PS1 as well as the Saturn were both definetly classics.

  • Comment removed

  • playstation win by having ff7, castelvania symphony of the night

  • @Dennan Saturn also have Dracula X / Castlevania Symphony of the night, and with more secrets, rooms, items, etc. So suck it!

  • @SonicDreamcaster i dont like that they diss other console, why playstation dont do that silly shit, its childish

  • @SonicDreamcaster Well if that's true, why do people look back at the Saturn and realise that it was a disaster? Fucking idiot.

  • @SonicDreamcaster

I must agree here, SOTN looks & plays far better on the saturn

  • @SonicDreamcaster And slowdown and no hardware blending/transparencies and muffled sound.

  • @MajikinaMina which is less important

  • @SonicDreamcaster muffled sound ? WTF

  • @Dennan

    that's cause it's all Bernie Stolar's fault.

  • Your naut ready.

  • I love nights!

  • the 3D doesn't exist... now we have the real 3D like the Nintendo 3DS and sony PS3

  • i now have an image in my head of some poor sod walking down the street. Only to get killed by a falling playstation.

  • @manintheryanmask While thinking im gonna buy a saturn lets see the playstation do anything cool splat

  • @manintheryanmask Hahahahahaha great post!

I love SEGA and how they had the balls to directly attack the competition, even at times when they were inferior in terms of power. Geez, if SEGA comes back to hardware business I'm purchasing their console!

  • lol at sega fanboys (and fanboys in general)

  • Sega Saturn = Great console :)

Nights into Dreams = AWESOME and a pure classic. :D

Funny how people back in the 90s thought the Sony PS1 was the best console out there and that Sonys consoles would always be on top.

  • @TheOnlineXtreme

Sonys are better at the time but in terms of classics!.

the dreamcast&saturn had many 10star classics in their small respected library.

noboby can explain why dreamcast died,

  • @TheOnlineXtreme They kinda are?!? I dont see a Sega Saturn 3 out atm...
