@KiddishProductions There is a mini-usb plug under the waterproof seal on the side. You plug that into your computer (just like if you were plugging a digital camera into your computer) and it gets mounted as a USB drive (e.g. "E:\") then you can just copy the movies right off it.
Windows will probably pop up that "Import Movies" dialog to make it easier. On Mac it will just show you the drive contents I think or iMovie might offer an import.
Thanks for being honest, this thing needs work. Looks like it does not even have Auto recoded and even if it did you could not use a AC Adapter to leave it on all day.
@signal6000 This one is NOT better than Flip.I have both, and this camera makes noises, and can't focus. It doesn't have a very long battery, and the memory is only 42 minutes. The touch screen barely works and it has bad camera quality It takes a while to import on a laptop and it's not compatible with Windows Movie Maker(but it is with Mac). I think this camera is ONLY meant for underwater filming, and NOT above water. I DON'T think u should get this camera.
How can you review a camera that supports going underwater without getting it underwater? "We didn't want to damage the device" is a lame excuse since it is made to go under water it won't get damaged (beach?!)! The interface is very simple so how your test subjects managed to take photos when wanting to film is pretty unclear to me since there are only 3 icons and they should just push the right button. It seems you are biased in this review and I don't take your serious for that reason.
@Spuit11juh Had I liked the device *at all* I would have done underwater filming. As it stood it was such a flop in every other aspect of use, I didn't care to risk the flimsy rubber seal around the I/O ports holding up and seeing if I would ruin it or not. As for my clear bias, I used the device for 2 weeks and found it lacking in everything from the UI to performance to quality; so I reported that. You are certainly welcome to post your own review as a counter for people to watch.
@Gwapasitupas The Canon S95 -- it is a brilliant camera. If you are looking for a point-and-shoot, it is my #1 reccomendation. f/2.0 wide-angle lens, 720p video with manual ISO/Exposure/Aperature controls, 3.0" 900k resolution screen on the back. The only down side is that it doesn't have a long zoom, so if you need that, look at the S30 IS or other super zooms.
@airtwaine Man that really sucks, I'm not sure what to suggest... I guess check that the lens is clean and that your settings are for 1080p at the highest framerate (30? I forget).
@hussein2050 I appreciate the heads up. In the category of "pocket camcorder" it is really sad that THIS is the best, there was nothing about this device I liked. If you suddenly include using water enclosures for better point and shoots in that category, I think there is a very long list of cameras better than this one.
@MrGamingxglitcher The Zx5 looks directly comparable to the WP10, I wouldn't say "way better"... the reviews are pretty mediocre from what I can tell. The Zx3 looks to be higher quality, but I haven't had hands-on time with either of these and I don't know what your requirements are, so it's possible ALL of these cameras will be just fine for what you want to do with them. I also don't know your budget :)
@jessica85174 If there are no videos on the device, my guess is that it wants you to go to the settings menu and Format the memory card inside the camera OR that there is no memory card in the device OR there is, and the "lock" slider on the SD card is slid to "lock".
Open up the connection port cover, the memory card is removable, see if there is one in there or if the little slider on the side of the card is pushed to "lock".
man youre right, my phone does take better video and pictures and its only 5mp lol. i was thinking of purchasing one of these a while back, i do already own the lumix ts1, but i wanted one of these as a secondary camera i took more videos with, but based on these videos you took my ts1 takes far superior videos and pictures, and mines the old school model, they have to ts3 now which is 100 times more bad ass
@mikefox05 I would describe it as "Average". No where near say a Canon point and shoot with the canon battery in it, but also not terrible. I know that is vague... a few hours? With short on/off recordings, I would say it would last a full day of use but not much more than that. You aren't going to charge it once then take it on a 3 day beach vacation without charging it anymore; I think it would be comparable to a newer smart phone.
@lovellespice I actually mentioned a bit about the sound -- it is average. Sometimes it's bad if the device has been wet and it sounds a bit muffled, othertimes it just sounds like normal audio capture on your camera in video mode... a bit better than a cell phone, but about on par with a point and shoot in movie mode or something like that. If you want to record professional performances, you'll want to pickup a vid cam with directional mic or something.
Why recommend buying smart phones or point n shoots when the buyer wants a video camera? I don’t want a smart phone, and I already have a DSLR. I’m not going to spend $300 on another camera when the marketplace I’m in is for just VIDEO cameras. Why video cameras waist time putting still image capability in their system is beyond me. If you want a device to do it all, there are already plenty out there, but not for $200.
If you’re a video camera, be a video camera. Don’t be a stellar video camera and then add on crappy still image capability.
But I wanted a video camera that can withstand the elements. Hiking, snowboarding, kayaking. Many of the “waterproof” add-ons to cameras are so cheezy looking and so bulky. The buttons are hard to press. This camera was great.
Sure, the touch screen may not be up to par with certain smart phones, but this review makes it sound like it’s a pain in the ass to navigate this camera. It’s not. It’s really not noticeable either. I don’t why that was such a big complaint. It’s a video camera…..it’s meant for videos, not for navigating.
Sure, navigation can be a big plus…make or break for some…but for a camera in this category, I don’t think so. Video quality and sound quality are what should be concentrated on in a review for this type of camera.
And just a question though, does anyone else have a problem with the audio? It seems the material on the outside of the camera messes with the microphone. I’m wondering if this is in all cameras or I somehow managed to get the messed up camera. >.<
how do you import the vids on to the computer!!!!!! please respond..
