I like this version better I think. The German language definitely makes it sound darker but that's because of it's erieness. I also know much more about the japanese language and how beautiful it is, mostly because asian languages don't have latin roots. Anyway, like the original and like this too.

The thing about japanese language is that they make the speaker or singer sound "cute" but in fact they are just annoying. That's, I think, how you get anime cartoons that are drawn to always look cute and talk cute too....

I do not like this version. The japanese language does not put the dramatic emphasis on the ending of the sentences like in German. In the german language there is so much vocal play at minute 2:00 that the japanese language is not taking advantage of. Also, the voice does not seem to place much difference between all the the people that this song has. Something I do like is the overacting. Really, I do lke it.

One might try to appreciate a Japanese version of Erlkönig, but this particular one has nothing do neither with Goethe nor with Schubert. The lady (if it is a woman at all) is a fine actress but she has absolutely no voice to tackle the piece. Her going hysterical doesn't exactly help the matter.

Japanese people are usually fairly successful with European classical music, but not when such travesties are concerned.

I think it is quite demanding to perform "Der Erlkönig" in another language. I really appreciate the japanese performance because it shows the universality of music and thought. No matter where you are from, music is about feelings and thus this video reminds me about it.

Vocally, she did extremely well. Even through the gestures and acting, which, if you're used to the classical singing style, is a bit much.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is a Takarazuka or Takarazuka-style performance, where women play every role.

If you don't like the interpretation or the amount of emotion put into the performance, fine. But I don't see, otherwise, what's wrong with it.

I wonder how much they had to change the story in Japanese. In german it's downright gruesome...if you know what's really going on. But, I dont' know what to make of this... it just depends on if they are expressing the same story as the german version.
