i loved the four first need for speeds. i played the hell out of every single one of them.

then it started deviating with porsche (which is a good game, just not "need for speed-y"), then less-than-awesome games like hot porsuit 2 and then it all went to hell with underground. i dont consider anything after hp2 a nfs, even if there are some decent games there (like most wanted).

@mach83 The first one kinda sucked. The AI would cheat with unbelievable bursts of speed (I think triggered by your driving mistakes.) Also, you couldn't leave the surface of the roadway (There are invisible walls at the edge of the road.)

I thing the old ones were the best, my fav is the NFS III. I loved those tracks.. Hometown, Country Woods, Atlantica, Aquatica, Rocky Pass, Summit, Redrock Ridge, Lost Canyons, Empire City all of em epic track and the whole feeling and music and everything was sooo cool. I loved to play on split screen with my friends. It was the best game mode ever. It was so much fun. The funny thing that the newer NFS episodes came out the less I played with em. The last ones are soo boring.

My first NFS game was "road challenge" (you yanks call it "high stakes") and its STILL one of my faves even now...I've spent a LOT of time on "Hot Pursuit 2" and "Underground 2" as well though

To think how long its been going and how much graphics have come on in the last 15 years is crazy...

i used to play nfs high stakes thinking of how beautiful were those graphics... times change... anyway... that game was very fun to play and i think, in each context, that was the best in the series...
