i often debate with people.what i love to do is debate with someone that shares the same opinion as me but act like i disagree...this way i have to think up counter arguments to the arguments i would use myself and no matter what i dont feel like losing.in the end it allows me to be more open minded.

but sometimes i get angry because after saying an argument i realise that its flawed and the other person just doesnt refute it.

@t0psh0tta If you want to "win" a debate dont just throw your opinions. You have to get the other person to actually listen to you and think about what you have to say. And to do that you need to listen to what the other person has to say and keep an open mind about things. Usually when you give someone enough respect as to listen what they have to say, they will do the same for you.

Dean, you provide many good points, as always. However I have just one thing to add: people who engage in debate don't always have the goal of convincing their opponent, but rather a someone else: a judge, an audience, the public, etc. The best form of debate, IMHO, is where both sides try to convince the other/or 3rd party, basing their claims on factual evidence. Unfortunately, the majority of debates, from YT comments to courts and presidential debates, appeal to emotions instead of facts.

Some people believe that it is mostly or completely subjective based on how a person is influenced by society. However there was a test across various societies and cultures that showed that there is a general basis as to who is beautiful and what makes them beautiful. There does seem to be a proportion of face parts.Newborns tended to stare at pictures of beautiful ppl longer too.
