Man, I miss this hilarious bastard so much. Even though I was too young to really appreciate his comedy while he was alive, I can remember my brother watching him, and him cracking up. Now that I'm older and see how hilarious he was, I wish so badly that he was still around to be hilarious.
I had the privilege of knowing Mitch and growing up with him in the same neighborhood here in St Paul MN...what a cool dude. And what a tragic end for an extremely talented guy.
Fucking hell yes, death metal... That's awesome... Pretty early too, if he "used to be in a death metal band for 7 years", I mean this was recorded in 1995.
I guess sometimes I hit cancel instead of post, so some stuff doesn't make sense, like a second comment on the first comment that I canceled without knowing it. Doesn't matter. What matters is the gift of guys like Mitch who I only discovered years after he died. Check out Bill Hicks.
I've thought I had seen everything this guy has done since he started inc. live shows--he was awesome!!---I never saw this before !!!!!!!! The band bit had me in tears!!!
@BenJamminH7 He always had stage freight which is why he wore sunglasses durring alot of his acts, and looks at the ground. And without a mic he was probably just nervous if you notice he rarely looks at the audiance.
To be fair, Garrafallo's comedy was funny in the beginning. It started to suck when she started listening to herself talk. It's the Tori Amos effect: When you listen to yourself talk you start quoting things that you found clever, then you just end up a boring repetitive cunt that isn't engaging.
@Jimk669 The first time I saw him doing his stuff, I thought of Kurt Cobain, not only because he had long blond hair, also because it is such a simple style of humor that has a lot of charm!
I think that it's just because the jokes are longer and more conversational. When he delivers the punchline it goes into that weird cadence of no contractions and a bit of a drawl. As Mitch progressed he contributed as little "set up" for his jokes, as possible, so he used his punchline voice a lot more.
for everyone who thinks their intellectual college girlfriend is only going to get better looking because you're attracted to the mind and not the body, I have two words for you...Janeane Garafalo.
