i agree with them, because halloween isn't a movie about a guy in a mask killing a whole bunch of slutty teenagers having sex and having a surving, but no its got this theme to it that makes it like its seperate version of horror yes having the sex and stuff but thats tradional, what you wanna do is put it on halloween night sit the candy bucket on your porch and let the trick or treaters knock on your door to make a chill go down your spine. after its over look out and you might think its there.
@figment1988 Just because it's a "classic" doesn't make it a good film. The story is horrible, the acting is atrocious (except Donald Pleasance) and every scene is made so badly it looks like an elementary school film project. Okay, that was a bit harsh.
@very95ape that's why i usually avoid remakes. Especially after learning that lesson the hard way after i wasted 8 dollars and 94 minutes of my life by watching Nightmare on Elm Street 2010. Even though the story tried to stick with the original NoES 1984, It just didn't feel the same without Robert Englund reprising his role which made him famous (and put him on the map aside from his role as Willie from V)
@LukeLovesRose i have a hard time considering psycho and halloween "slasher" flicks. isn't the slasher sub genre defined by blood and gore? halloween had no blood and no gore, and psycho had very little blood. friday the 13th and nightmare on elm st. are, to me, slasher flicks.
Now to Siskel and his hatered for women = horror films angle, what makes no sense is his favorite movie a movie enough he bought the suit. "saturday night fever" which shows as much hatered toward women then any horror film, one night stands, gang bangs in the back of their car, hatered to gay people, black people & latinos! This is a movie Siskel saw 10+ times in the theater according to Ebert... listen to both their dumb angle on trying to piece hate, women & horror movies = Siskels fav movie
@vertigo58ful what their reviews of friday the 13th part 4 & silent night deadly night! Siskel stuck to hating horror films which is cool, he didnt like silence of the lanbs, but Ebert went along with this issue in the 1980's - but seeing that he liked last house on the left, which is everything he hated with the 2 reviews I mentioned above, it wasnt a review it was personal!
@vertigo58ful He & Siskel were on a soap box in the 80's, watch all the clips, they just repeated a full episode from the early 80's acting above every horror film and the ONE he liked in the 70's was worst and more disgusting then any of the films he was bitching about in the 80's episode. Last House on the Left was some sick snuff film with disgusting rape in it! Ebert LOVES and has no problems with it, but look at his reviews of any F13th film. He acts like THOSE are sick & wrong.??
HOW can Ebert have this opening speech, and give "Last House on the Left" 3.5 stars??? Only a few years before? Ebert comes off like a complete jerkoff when he talks bad about Slasher films of the last 70's - 80's... when he LOVED Last House on the Left. Just remember that everytime he gets on his soap box with Siskel.
When they say that they only don't like a certain kind of horror movie. Unfortunately, most horror movies today are those stupid pointlessly gory movies.
it's Halloween! it's Ebert!

This movie is a worthless piece of garbage. It sucks. It deserves one star out of five.
very95ape 2 months ago
@very95ape how can you say that about a classic. if any movie in the franchise deserves one star, it must be the Rob Zombie remakes.

Oh, Rob's Hw1 remake is not amazing either.

No, PSYCHO is the best slasher horror film ever. Period. There's just no way to get around the master of suspense at what he did best.
Halloween was AWESOME though.

Last week they repeated this episode on PBS and even when they showed the new hosts at the end, they thought Siskel & Ebert were basically nuts!
