wrong, the gain was too high for the harmonic to NOT be heard.. i guess he just failed to undead the string in that point.. cuz, we could at least hear a picking sound from that, even if it was a fail or not.

um no not at all. I hit the harmonic, but the mic wouldn't pick up that high of a frequency so that's why you can't hear it. so your criticism is a HUGE FAIL.

alright buddy if you don't have anything nice to say don't watch the fucking video. I know for a FACT that I hit that harmonic because when I played it I HEARD it. I'm sorry I was using a $20 CVS camera to take my video and the sound quality wasn't great. Every single take of this song I took it did the same thing on that harmonic.

it sounds like you're using some kind of reverb pedel... am i correct?... cause i got this same amp and the ONLY thing i wish it had was a reverb channel... and a nicer clean tone

Nah man I'm just using some delay and chorus on my Gt-8 processor. I also wish the amp had a nicer clean sound lol, but the distortion is killer

hey bro! your sound is awesome! i have a 6505+ too and a marshall 1960 cab. What are your settings? What pedals are you using? Delay etc and the settings on them? I want that petrucci tone and u are damn close haha

I have the low and mids around 5 and the highs around 6-7. I'm using a boss GT-8 for the delay, but i would recommend just a regular stomp box delay pedal

What do you use the GT-8 for? I have an ADA mp-1 (the same preamp john used on earlier albums) and a Mesa Boogie 295 PA. I run through my GT-3 for a boost and volume pedal control, but I found that placing the ADA first in the chain and using the GT-3 for reverb took alot of the balls out of my tone.

Ahh, I just run mine through my effects loop for a volume boost and for some delay. It definately changes the tone though, but not enough to be noticeable if I was playing a show.

Those are my settings, they'll give you a good tone, and just fool around with the knobs from there to shape it exactly how you want it. Thanks for the comment man!

I'm sure alot of it has to do with Petrucci being a big influence on these people, ever since I've been listening to/playing Dream Theater and Petrucci, my guitar has kinda floated up over time also. I use to play with i down really low, and realized how much it can hinder you. I also play with it propped on my left leg alot now, too.

Now my question: what volume was the amp on? I like the amp and the sound of it a lot, but it worries me that it has 120 watts of power, it is probably way too loud for me, and maybe because it's a tube amp it will sound bad at low volumes...

all the gain is coming from the Peavey, i only have delay on my GT-8, and the sound isnt very good with the camera, it sounds much better in person

well good playing anyways. You missed quite a lot on the fast part at 0.50 and also some other stuff.

Good try but you should defenitly go through every part on this solo again and check what vibratos you missed, and also tones and other stuff.

Do that and this will sound much better.
