No, I wasn't in that part of the country unfortunately, but it sounds like an amazing experience! If I go back to PNG that will be on my list of things to do for sure.
So.. did you actually walk the kokoda trail?!... i was a part of the first group of students from port moresby international school that walked the kokoda trail!!.. The feeling of finally getting to the end of the 9day trek was unbelievably overwhelming!! Definately do it again!!...
Hey Mathew did u encounter any trouble being in Morseby? Did u go out at night, im thinking of going to PNG but am just worried for saftey according what u hear, but u also hear things about it being safe and ok as well. any feedback?
Moresby is alright during the day, if you have a local person to guide you round. I wouldn't recommend walking around alone especially with obvious valuables and/or at night time. We were confined to our hotel much of the time. There isn't much to see in Moresby itself though anyway. Places like Rabaul are much safer and infinitely more interesting. You'd also be fine in a group of people taking on the Kokoda Trail. I hope the trip works out well!
