1) A sentence is an poor metaphor for natural selection. What exactly is the "environment" of an ad? Is it the number of responses it receives? You don't think a random mutation that read "FREE BEER!" would perform better? Soon all the ads would read "FREE BEER!" Some of those may even evolve into "FREE BEER & PIZZA!" ads, and then these would dominate.
2) Fruit Flies are already well adapted. What environmental benefits did the fruit fly have for keeping any of its changes?
