  • Sowell is the man, modern day Jefferson.

  • In banking the big fish has the power to eat the little fish even if the big fish was mainly guilty of creating the dynamics of a financial vacuum.

Fishes in the bowl drinking all the water springs to mind.

  • I heard on english television just the otherday that an american bank is thinking of suing some english ones who got fucked in the mortage for idiots scam..I cannot think of who used who in that episode exactly but;the news was saying that if these english banks and building societies got pounded, the cost would be put against the TAXPAYER!

Great i am paying for shares in a priuvate bank where i get no benefits of being a share holder while i save money!

  • I'm looking at getting a second home, but i expect i won't be living in it either because where i work is 250 miles away(home is where the work is).

I could get a mortgage for a bit extra but it 3would give me such a guilt complex as if i was sponsoring the problem.I feel the same way about trying to get a driving licence when i hate petrol.

  • Love the debates with Sowell and Friedman .... they are like the economics 'dream team' ...unbeatable in their debates.

  • But Bern! Their intentions were good. Surely it doesn't matter how much damage was caused as long as their intentions are good. (lol)

  • I purchased that book a while back but never read it, not that I needed any convincing.

  • Thats what government is supposed to do keep the sheep in line!

  • Sir! I must disagree with you here!

You say government does NOTHING well?

    Government EXCELS at controlling people!

  • I like Sowell, except his irrational and illogical stance on Iran.

  • Life could be so simplified if folk did play by the rules. If they only took what they needed to get by and didn't squander what they have.

Unfortunately not everyone is willing to live by rules and thein is the problem we face.

The native American indians had it right...respect the land and your people, and the land and the people will have all they need to live a decent life.

  • A fine video. Fiscally we are also very similar in our perceptions of the screwed up economy we are faced with. Alas, buy gold and silver and protect yourselves from the coming storm one and all!

  • @RockingMrE wish i still could but i am going to buy 10 US silver quarters with my next check, best i can do i'm afraid

  • @pinegrove33 Whatever people can afford is better than nothing. I am a recent buyer myself. I wish I bought a year ago - but you live and learn.

  • You seem to know as much about economics as I do about a successful and fulfilling heterosexual relationship with a man.

  • Thomas Sowell IS America ....a modern day Jefferson/Adam Smith/Ansel Adams. School children should be beaten daily until they can recite Sowell chapter and verse.

  • @ConcernedAmericans He's the greatest guy never to be celebrated during Black History month and if every kid was familiar with just two of his arguments the USA would be a much better place.

  • I wonder how much of that 16 trillion the fed printed up was given to Fannie and Freddie Mac and how much went to private banks and business.

  • @DiwataMan I don't know, you're right though, I was told by my mortgage guy that Fan and Fred assumed responsibility for 90 percent of loans (mine included!)

  • It's really sad that people like Dr. Sowell and Walter Williams are branded "uncle toms" because they don't subscribe to the welfare plantation mentality liberals have created for blacks in America.

  • @pretorious700 yep, or they ignore them altogether

  • Up next, the college loan bubble. Stay tuned!

  • @Dirge987 you're right, i feel very sorry for the kids who go broke with loans and there's a lot of them

  • I'll check it out. I just started reading The Big Short by Michael Lewis, seems good so far, but a lot of it is hard to understand, I know very little about investing/finance.

  • @cdubMRA i put that book down, that guy's a leftist and those traders he interviewed were clueless, no emphasis on GOV in that book, the one guy in there became a leftist after his kid died--standard! it's all about their emotional state

  • @pinegrove33

Yeah I read that part about that Eisman guy in there becoming a leftist and all...at that point I was definately second guessing a lot of what I was reading. Leftist's don't care about truth, just their emotional state like you stated above.

  • I love the Sowell Man!

  • this ought to kick leftists right in the nuts right here, if for no other reason, for the simple fact that both of the most recent books you've reviewed, this one and the last one were written by a black man and a latino man, which disproves any accusations of racism to Chapin's Inferno. great job bern. this is a way to shut them up very well.

  • @DeadJesusRodeo69 That's because he judges people by the content of their character, and not by the colour of their skin. Unlike the left-wing, who judge people in Manichean Essentialist terms!
