  • lol autoque anyone

  • she so cute in here

  • Madonna Your are the best and beautiful star for ever !

  • The tony award must've been Grrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

  • She kinda reminds me of Jennifer Connelly in this clip. Just a little.

  • Hilarious moment at 2:12! "I'm being punished for not coming to rehearsal today!" Madonna is actually funny as hell! The crowd can sense that as well with her comedic timing! She is such a star! Love Madonna!

  • @GoodSpiritBadBoy she lost her sense of humour long ago unfortunately. after the 80's...shit.

  • She was introduced by Angela Lansbury!!

  • WOW!! Madonna is a muscular woman!!!

  • The year I was born! oh my god!

  • Love the Queen, but that was boring until her cute little flub!

If only she could've used the word "arguing" one or two more times.

  • i love her voice and that FACE!!!!

  • I LOVE what she's wearing!!!

  • This is Why she's the Queen!

  • Very cute and Madonna is just so damn sexy.

  • She is so cute! Seems to be little bit nervous about talking there but it doesn't matter. She is the best.

  • that dress was a mistake lol but she looks so adorable and sounds it too

  • how can you not love her ....shes simply wonderful

  • That is funnnnny

  • Thanks fr the upload, crazy4u .)

Great to see this from Madonna. :))

  • Oh my God looks like Lourdes so much!!

  • No, cute

  • what did she do on broadway?

  • she embarrassed herself...LOL

  • what an entertainer, through and through. she can make that boring droll of a speech charming. i miss the young, charming, not mellowed out madonna with dark hair.

  • how fast is the telepromter? she reads and speaks without having a chance to take a breath! LOL

  • I miss those eyebrows ...

  • looooooooooooool

  • She acts like one of the Dummies on Judge Judy who think they have to lean down to get picked up by the mike.

    A real Pro?

Her whiney voice is so hard...the opposite of a feminine vibe.

And her body looks like she had a sex change from male to ....whatever she is.

You'd think with her millions she would hire good songwriters and great musicians...but it's always the same robot music crap.

  • are you an "M' fan at all ?? WTF are you talking about....this was real early in her career...she does admit alot that intially when ask to do stuff like this or perform, she gets nerveous,...

  • Rexicano or Mexicana or whatever your name is thanks for the lecture, get a life!

  • Dear Confused Person;

    Nice to know you don't know the difference between Latin and Spanish...and the difference between male and female...but that's OK;

Now I get to feel your ignorance & racist feelings.

And if I have no life; why are you writing to such a person?

Go back to your shallow tastes in music and enjoy.

  • I go back to my shallow tastes in music and you get the fuck off youtube! Deal? By the way, I did not know I have racist feelings, where did you get that from? I dont care if you are latin, spanish, eskimo, male, female or both! I just dont like people who think they are high and mighty just because they have watched Judge Judy...the so called same robot music crap sold 400 million records, thank you very much!

  • lol.... Mexicana...

  • i have to say i think that is the worst dress she has ever worn..not one of her better fashion moments.

  • she reminds me of Shannon Doughety here

  • The story might have got more laughs if it sounded natural. Not saying she's stupid, or a bad person, or whatever it is some of you other guys are saying... I just hate when somebody tells a story that they know so little about that they have to read from a teleprompter.

  • all award shows are like that, unfortunately. She was new to broadway, and was probably nervous as hell.

  • a dress

  • well she's not a robot, she's just reciting a very long introduction that she clearly hasn't rehearsed. You can clearly hear the difference when she ad libs in between. The audience obviously agrees by applauding when she states 'I'm being punished for not coming to rehearsals today".

It actually makes it more interesting than if she had done it perfectly.

  • The point I'm making is that she's a terrific entertainer (I own all her records: I'm a huge fan) but a TERRIBLE orator. She could rehearse the arse off the speech and still sound wooden because she cannot ACT. Ad libbing she's funny because she's being HERSELF i.e. off script. Geddit, dear?

  • Oh I know you weren't questioning her entertainment value. I don't really think this has anything to do with acting. The best orators are usually so because of charm, personality, there's something charismatic about them and what they say, scripted or otherwise. Doesn't mean that same person would be a great actor. Some of the skills are similar you might say, but it's like the difference between a great soul singer trying to do Classical Opera. similar discipline, but different muscle strengths

  • Maybe she WAS back then. Just look att the speech from the tribute to M. Jackson on the MTV VMA this year.

  • I have. It's wooden. She's not quite as bad as she was but she's still SO FUCKING SELF CONSCIOUS

  • sorry but you are so wrong , this woman can act..have you not seen EVITA, or A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN, or SWEPT AWAY, or even NEXT BEST THING, i didn't even pull out DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN..get your facts straight she's not bette davis but she can act....

  • as for you, dear. get new movie heroes!!

    1) Evita: extended music video

    2) League: her best performance. She CAN act, i agree. like all of us when we're comfortable.

    3) SA: not consistent. good then OK then BAD

    4) NBT: she's not that bad but it's another dud

    5) Susan: charming, sexy, OK. i wouldn't call it acting

Unfortunately she's never been CONSISTENT enough to be considered an 'actor'. you can't pick and choose your favourite moments.

  • lol love her!

  • I have an interview from back in 1984 and you can hear her pronouncing her vowels that way. She is not a poser. Maybe her "accent" is more pronounced in recent years, but that's just because she's lived in England for so long. You can't live somewhere for an extended period of time and not pick up some of the local accent. She was married to a brit as well, so what do you expect?

  • Yeah exactly. She's like sponge. :)

Like if you ever saw the one interview where she and Rosie O'donnel were on Arsenio Hall, she sort of had a bit a of new york thing going on. She was with Rosie often at that time so she sort of picked it up.

But I feel like in this clip she is speaking how she usually does. There is nothing british or new york sounding about it. It's just her voice.

  • madonna is not a wannabe englishwoman...she grew up with italian dadmother of french background (before she died) and so madonna'saccent is is influenced by all these european types and at times as such it may sound rather british!! especially when she is trying to speak "properly"

  • exactly! And it's been said that the english speak much more properly because that is the way their vowels come out. So if she is trying to sound more proper and she sounds a bit british, that doesn't make her a wannabee.

She has always been that way before she ever set foot in london.

  • aja

    odie el vestidoo

  • She's so sweet and funny.Great speech!

  • she'sthe best!

  • she's the best!

  • stupid wannabe asshole

  • a dress?

  • She's so funny, Love her!

  • I wonder whose "orders" she's obeying?

  • cute madonna!

  • This was cool Madonna. It was before she started to believe she was a god.

  • you are joking right? she was more of a bitch back then. she thought she was better than god back then!

  • What I mean is, she was not as serious. Sure, she was a bitch but she was also less uptight.

  • Very good upload! I think she's cute

  • she looks best with dark hair :)

  • It's funny, you moron.

  • I THINK THAT WAS THE FIRST and last TIME she gave an award to someonelse.

  • iodab, that wasn't the last time. In 1999, at the MTV VMA, she gave an award to Paul McCartney.

  • OK IT WAS the second and last one!

    :°D

    ciao baby!

  • no problem!

  • Actually 3rd to last. she gave a lifetime achievement award to Bob Geldoff at the 2006 EMAs

  • She didn't present an award to Paul McCartney, she introduced him....they both presented the award to Lauren Hill.

  • that's same hairstyle from la isla bonita, what do you think?

  • she had short hair in La Isla Bonita video...

  • She had a bun in La Isla Bonita as she had long hair.

  • Horrific outfit and yer she does sound mega annoying! lol

  • this is from 1988

  • Brilliant seeing the wonderful Glenda Jackson in this clip chortling away!

Madonna wasn't great until she did the genuine ad lib about 'being punished' and then the audience were genuinely on her side and she sailed it. If only she could be a bit spontaneous more often.

  • A BRILLIANT MADONNA MOMENT!!! "Im being punished...."

  • its between 98 and 99 the year

  • ...1998 and 1999? no. 1988 and 1989

  • ...omg she's so young.... :D

  • what year was this. She looks beautiful

  • I think this is 1988. She was in a play called Speed the Plow that year.

  • I LOVE THIS.......so cute..and funny.

  • she seems so relaxed and funny and cool... what happened to her?

  • She looks so nice in dark hair.

  • I agree

  • People always says Madonna is trying to put on a British accent. She is actually trying to perfect what is called a "Mid Atlantic Accent" which is what most stage actors would use up until the 60's. Frasier is a good example of this. She knows what she is doing. Brilliant!

  • Shes not a stage actress. shes not really even an actress.

stay true to your roots is what I say. she sounds normal here. she sounds forced and down right rude now.

The MAA was used for actors transitioning from silent to talkie films. most of them didn't know how to speak well, so they used stage actors (mostly shakespearean) to train them. that's why it ended in the 60s'..they died.

  • Theater IS about ... arguing.

  • i love this dress

  • bella

  • love her.

  • BEST EVER.

  • That was great. Never saw it. Thank you!

  • Wow! Thanks a lot for sharing this! I have never see it in full before

  • thanks i never saw that before!!! soo cool
