Because at first I thought it's going be out next year but then i look up on line just like do all the time I found out it's going be out two years from but I get so confuest on the time line.
I got to meet Karen in Seattle at the EMPSFM! She was so nice! We got to talk for about 20 minutes! I told her that I had always wanted to b her when I grew up ^_^
Speaking of Fraggles and their original performers, is it possible that Jerry Nelson will perform his major characters (Gobo, Pa Gorg, and the Trash Heap) in the movie? And I'm also wondering if Kathy Mullen will perform Mokey and Cotterpin (a Doozer) again, too.
(I know both Steve Whitmire and Dave Goelz will perform Wembley and Boober respectively in the film, though, along with Karen as Red)
@Crassygyrinus Let me just say one thing, okay two one "Jerry why must you be so sick?" and two "I HATE MATT VOGEL!!!!!!!!!" no offense Matt if your reading this
I couldn't record the entire bit--I only had my regular camera--which doesn't really hold tons of video time. I've got a few snippets and I hope other folks got even more!

She's really not creating a convincing illusion, since I can both see her behind the puppet, and see her mouth move whenever the "puppet" speaks. My friend Bob Pantolamo, of Bali's Wayang puppeteering fame, always said that if you're not worried about them seeing behind The Veil, it's really not that hard.
Quote:"She's really not creating a convincing illusion, since I can both see her behind the puppet, and see her mouth move whenever the "puppet" speaks."
Karen Prell is not trying to be a ventriloquist here. It's magic along to see her with Red after all these years. it's amazing to see a performer with their original character. You will see Red and all her Fraggle pals back the way they were in the new up coming Fraggle rock movie!
@ZanyZachman If you don't count the fact Gobo, Mokey, and Wembley aren't supposed to have Nelson, Mullen, and Whitmire performing them. However, that could change since they got Goelz to go back and perform Boober and Uncle Matt.
I think that's why the film is getting moved around on the timeline b/c i'm sure they'd want as many originals back as they can. Thank god for Goelz.. carrying the banner for the old school, still. Would be nice if Nelson felt up to it or if whitmire had time for it.. wembley was one of his best characters IMO
@FLPman Well, also the film is being considered an aside to the series, so I'm a bit skeptical about that to begin with. And also, what of Kathy then? I know she's still active in some projects and can still do the Mokey voice.
@collgoff If Jerry and Kathy can't make it, maybe Matt Vogel and Pam Arciero could be Gobo and Mokey, if Pam took over for Kathy Mullen as Leona on Between the Lions, why not Mokey Fraggle?
@Rtkat3 I know that but I hear Steve is really ready to do this movie and I Jerry has health problems but I'm pretty sure if we keep our hopes up that way anything can happen,
@collgoff We have not yet heard if Kathryn Mullen will be reprising Mokey Fraggle. Of course Matt Vogel managed to match the voices of some of Jerry Nelson's characters in one of the recent Muppet projects.
@muppetlover16 Pam Arciero took over for Kathryn Mullen's character Leona in "Between the Lions." I have just heard on the Muppet Wikia that the proposed "Fraggle Rock" movie has been shelved.
Very stoked about fraggles exploring the real world in the new movie. Anyone who calls Fran out on not being "convinving" is clearly not a JH fan. Granted no one could quite pull it off like Jim, but truly the magic of it all was the fact that they were always showing us how they did things.. and even still we connected with the characters... even in interviews where jim was clearly holding kermit.. i still see two people up there.. that's the magic of muppets vs novelty acts
That doesn't matter. The illusion of Red being alive is not ruined for people at all. Most of the Muppet performers, including the late Jim Henson have all been in full view with their characters for various events, and the illusion is NOT ruined at all. Especially for kids, who tend to pay more attention to the character anyway. The Muppet performers are not ventriloquists, and they are not trying to be. People still believe that the character is alive.
I agree with what the others have said, being a muppet/fraggle performer has never been about being a ventriloquist. The characters have so much heart that it is always sort of like they just brought their human along as a friend/pet :). If you watch the 'Fraggles get jobs' video where they all are talking about life after the first FR series, there is a moment where you can see her head and Red says 'whoa, down girl!' or the like..and the magic is never broken IMHO :3
Indeed. As RedSonga (OrangeFlaaffy) and hypnodude have said, the job of a Muppeteer is not to try to completely fool the audience. Rather, for fans of the Muppets (or any Henson creation, for that matter) & children worldwide, the idea is to suspend belief and still feel as if the character and performer--though linked--are two different (and seperate) beings.
@OrangeFlaaffy Well OrangeFlaafy, take a look at Avenue Q. In their show the puppeteers are clearly present, so what do the puppets do? ignore them as if they were nothing, I mean imagine if Kate Monster was talking to the audience and you saw Stephanie D'Abruzzo's head pop up, my guess is Kate would say "Not now Steph can't you see I'm talking?" so in a way they are trying to recreate the same magic Jim Henson and crew had.
I hope the new Fraggle rock movie will be good.

Chances are Jerry Nelson will dub the performances in his typical character voices, as he isnt all that well.
