  • We need fully restored versions of all these shorts!

  • Heh, at the establishing shot at 0:41, I thought that "tugboat" was really a small toy boat in a stream, until I saw the jeep wheels on the bottom :P It was clever how Snafu was smoking a cigar to imitate the smoke from the boat!

  • Imagine a whole front line of Nazis dressed up in tree costumes. That's who we were up against.

  • Dr Seuss wrote most of these cartoons

  • what a jackass

  • LMAO @ 0:53 BEEEWWWW

  • a military fairy?

  • @ya0ish3lly

It's the Patrolling Spirit. Ask anyone in PPCLI in the Canadian Forces. The Fairy you saw is just one of the Patrolling Spirits' minions. Ahahahahah! :D

  • where these really training films?

  • Yeah, they decided to throw a little comedy in there now and then to keep morale high.

  • @TyylerS

Just movies that were made to educate and boost the morale of troops, with sense of humor on it.

  • Yes. The realized if they threw in a little comedy, the troops were better able to remember the lesson.

  • Bitte, mein Herr, haben Sie ein "Light"?

    I fucking love it.

  • you can't really see it that well but i don't think those mermaids have anything covering their boobs.

  • snafu means situation normal, all fucked up

  • Back then it meant all Fouled up.

  • I think the soldiers called it that though. :P

  • of course not..Shakespeare used it

  • I LOVE this cartoon, do you have an episode named "Censored"???

  • The "Private Snafu" cartoons are all on DVD. I believe the cartoon "Censored" was itself censored because a sight gag could have been taken as a reference towards the Atomic Bomb, which back then was still Top Secret.

  • Your thinking of the cartoon "Going Home". "Censored" is about Snafu wanting to send letters to his girlfriend but they keep getting cut up by the censors and asks technical fairy first class to send them for him and chaos ensues when information is leaked. Both are about leaking information but "Going Home" wasn't shown because of a reference to the Manhattan Project.

  • Several of these were also written by Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss

  • VAN DEADLY?!?!

    I wan't that name!

  • wtf dose jesus have to do with the americans of ww2, christian fanatic...

  • We fight for God and country!

  • Show a little respect, dickless.

  • Dude, back in the 40's and 50's, over 97% of the US population was Christian, and they were a LOT more devote and religious than they are now. Remember this is a World War 2 era cartoon.

  • The whole concept of the SNAFU cartoons was simple, SNAFU was a poor soldier, not because he was small, stupid, or impatient, but simply because he didn't properly follow orders.Technically accurate, most of the success of a military operation necessitates following orders, hence why much of early military training is stamping out traces of the individual.

  • Just how did this BOOB make it through WW2?? LMAO
