  • A dear close friend of ours who we meet in our local pub every weekend puts this tune on the juke box every time (it's the first tune he puts on, his 'signature'.) Even when we've been sat in the beer garden in the summer, we know he's arrived when we hear the chirpy tones of nut rocker, lol! We've grown to love it now, it's a really catchy little number!

  • great rocking tune

  • THE BOSTON BRUINS THEME!! Stanley Cup Champions 2011. B's RULE!

  • I would like to make y'all aware of a new publication which features thousands of comments from YouTube. It is entitled 'You Are A Tube!' compiled by Steven Fried PLC.

  • Ali Hazen replaced Ernie Freeman on piano for this B. Bumble & The Stingers hit. The rest of the crew is the same, Tommy Tedesco on guitar, Earl Palmer on drums and Red Callender on bass. This was first recorded earlier in 1962 by Freeman, Palmer & Rene Hall on guitar as Jack B. Nimble and the Quicks on Del-Rio Records 2302.

  • Kim Fowley has stolen composer credits of this one from a great Russian composer , but so have many many others; Fowley should be better known as a record producer/ arranger; he even worked with classy Finnish rock band Wigwam some 40 years ago, i.e. album Tombstone Valentine; that´s recommeded listening if you´re interested on Nordic / Finnish rock.

  • I used to love this song. This was one of the songs blaring out of every jukebox and radio when I was little. Truly a golden era for music.

  • Released the year I was born. My Dad used to play it-it still sounds great.

  • This song is amazing!!!!

    Great great great

  • May I recommend the book 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man. The author is a big fan of this fine instrumental.

  • 2 people have no nuts.

  • Thumbs Up If The Butcher Boy Brought You Here

  • This and Elvis' Good Luck Charm were the first 45s I bought.

  • Oh, so great! The piano really adds a feeling to the music, doesn't it?

    ?

  • @VinDcator Yes the piano gives this song a magic kindof sound. The boogie piano and the tinny one. Is that a piano or a harpsichord played with the boogie piano?

  • KIM FOWLEY ARRANGED THIS *in shock*

  • KIM FOWLEY

  • Funny how that one guy is the only one who dislikes this song.

  • I've always liked this but I wonder if Tchaikowsky would be flattered or rolling in his grave.

  • I think ELP did a take off on this in the early 70's....fabulous!!!!

  • cup champs baby

  • BIG BAD BRUINS FOREVER!

  • This originally was Ernie Fields Orchestra - check out "In the Mood"on YouTube by them (1959), with "Christopher Columbus" on the back of that single - true nostalga!

Also look up "Ernie Fields" to find a website you can hear a sample of "Christopher Columbus".

  • Awesome piano classic.

  • I have this song on cd, and just love it!

  • this band rocks have the greatest hits cd i love it

  • 24/7 PENGUINS CAPITALS: ROAD TO THE NHL WINTER CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!

    Greatest show EVER.

  • @prorobo hah dude thats exactly why im even listening to this!

  • @prorobo And what about Bruins/Flyers at Fenway Park? Was that not "The Greatest"?

  • @prorobo Bruins - Flyers the year before was a far better show for National Television. And it didn't have to be postponed from Day to Night.

  • Why doesn't anyone make novelty records anymore? I guess they stopped being novel.

0:54 -- That looks dangerous. I hope someone was standing by with a fire extinguisher -- especially considering how much hairspray girls used in those days!

  • First record I ever bought

  • kim fowley wrote this lol

  • @UrbanGuerilla88: Kim Fowley ARRANGED it - and brilliantly, for all that. But TSCHAIKOVSKY wrote it.

  • @UrbanGuerilla88: Kim Fowley ARRANGED it - and brilliantly, for all that. But TSCHAIKOVSKY wrote it.

  • BIG BAD BRUINS FOREVER!

  • Damn I was in jr high in 1962! Some don't know good music when they heqr it

  • i seriously dislike this :) it cant possibly get any worse!!!

  • @CheZZi17 You`re immature and dont know different

  • Rene Hall is very underrated. Can sombody post a picture of him on wiki? Drummer, by the way, is de recently deceased Earl Palmer, also on all Ritchie Valens records - except on live at Pacoima.

Rene solo here is from start to finish a masterpiece!

  • YouTube and the people who write in are awesome. I have known this disc for something like 35 years, and I had no idea Sid Vicious played bass on it.

    Thank you!

  • @LFinn98 He didn't. It's a joke. He would have been about four years old when this was recorded.

  • @Vanguard448

    True!

    But I also heard that

    Bruce Forsythe played piano.

    Tess Daly played drums.And that,

Anne Widdicombe danced in the video.

    .

  • one of the first records Sid Vicious played bass on. truly an underrated bass player but you can't argue with his performance here. Also, the maraca solo by King Friday XIII is amazing!

  • @illharmonic Um... considering Sid was all of four years old when this was made, he must have been quite the unsung prodigy! LOL

  • This music came way way before my time, but I love it.

  • Actually the guitar player is Rene Hall. Very unsung player who also discovered Billy Ward & the Dominoes & played guitar on their songs including Sixty Minute Man, Chicken Blues, etc. - Rene also played on Sam Cooke's songs, al the Ritchie Valens songs, Larry Williams, and many more. Al Hazan is playing piano here.

  • @mutleybird Al Hazan: "While we were actually recording the track, I needed Rene Hall, the guitarist, to signal me when to come in after his solo guitar break, by nodding his head. I asked him to do this because I kept losing track of where I was while we were playing the song. Not only did Rene have to concentrate on his guitar performance but he had to worry about keeping me on track as well. I just faked my way through the whole session but somehow it all worked out."

  • Paddyballgame? Not the Terry O'Reilly I know, I hope!

  • @jauntie16

No the one who used to beat the hell out of Montreal Canadiens and Hartford Whalers regularly and with gusto!

  • Blimey! I used to try and play this on the piano - almost lost the feeling in my wrists!

  • That is why Youtube and the internet are great. First time I have heard that tune was on Emerson Lake and Palmer Pictures at an Exhibition, back in the early 1970s. Hearing the original is so very enlightening.

  • When I hear this tune I always wonder will Terry O'Reilly get into a fight tonight???

  • I looked up this tune because I was on a website that told you what the number one song in the UK was on the day you were born. Nut Rocker was #1 on the day I was born.

  • Who's the guitar player on this one? Pretty tasty solo!

  • @tomlangedrums The guitar player on this is Tommy Tedesco of "The Wrecking Crew".

  • Merci x 1000000000000000 fois jusque dernier chiffre !

  • Lol, I'm playing this for my solo in school, it's

    a realy good song.

  • I was 10 years old at the time and taking piano lessons. After I heard this record, the hairs on the back of my neck rose up and I knew it was all worthwhile. Still one of my favourite piano pieces and sooooo ahead of it's time .

  • most like the deep piano sound at 1:27

  • they play this at the begining of bruins games. like maybe ten minutes before the players take the ice. lol GO BRUINS!

  • It's been their theme song since at least the early 70s--they used to play it as the intro to the televised games on Ch. 38 UHF.

  • nice!! i didnt know that. thats awesome!! i love this song now. and i love the bruins!

  • It's B. Bumble and The STINGERS, not the Rockers.

  • Love the Stateside label.Terrific track.Tx.

  • Brilliant Track, Good share Tuks & Thanks 45rpmSINGLES for posting.

  • I remember when this was in the charts, a mate of ours( there was about six of us just come of the pictures) jumped on the piano in one our local pubs in Beckenham High Street in the U K, and played this, we were thrown out by the rather burly publican, great days ,thanks for posting.

  • DID YOU KNOW .... this was recorded at the home studio of Jack Jackson (of radio fame) in Maple Cross. His son, Malcolm, produced it. I used to use the studio for my D.J. Demo Tapes

  • huh.. ya DON'T say!! Any idea who was playing on the original version?? The drummer is TOtally cookin'!!! and the guitar solo is pretty great too.

  • Al Hazan is playing piano. The drummer is Earl Palmer of Phil Spectors "Wrecking Crew" and the guitar player is Tommy Tedesco also of the "Wrecking Crew".

In 1962 this went to #23 in the U.S. and #1 in the U.K.

  • Hey , J DUKUELE!! thanks for the info!

Tommy Tedesco! Too cool! He was a Heavy-duty session guy throughout the 60 's & 70's......

Love the sound of his guitar & note choices he makes. Hard to believe this was recorded in a home studio- it's got such a cool, live sound to it. This is certainly one of THE great instrumental tracks of the day, right up there with Sleepwalk and Apache.

  • I'm a musician and producer myself. I'm a big collector of the early instrumental records of the 50's and 60's. I'm also a big surf fan. I have a rare cd release of the first album and I also have a book on older records and it tells the story of the group and the records.

  • Sorry, this was recorded in an office at Rendezvous records that was set up as a makeshift studio just for this recording.

This is produced by Kim Foley as were all of Bee Bumble and the Stingers records.

    True fact of history.

  • I'll take your word for it JD. My information came from Malcolm Jackson (Jack's son) when I was recording a demo tape at their studio all those many moons ago.

You sound pretty positive about your information, so pleased to put it right. I'll believe anything - someone told me Ringo was a good drummer once!!

  • I have a rare cd release of the first album and it gives information on the recording sessions. I also have a book on early 50's

and 60's records and it tells the story of the group and the records. As a side note,

everyone involved was a studio musician who's played on countless hits of the 60's behind major stars. Kim Fowley the producer of this as well as the rest of Bee's releases was and stiill is active in music. He created the girl band The Runaways which is where Joan Jett came from.

  • I gave up the business in 1968 - EVERYONE was a better DJ than me ...... so ,,,,,,,, who on earth is Joan Jett?

  • Joan Jett is an american woman guitar player. She came to fame in a all girl band in the 70's calledThe Runaways. The band was produced by by Kim Fowley who also produced this and the rest of Bee Bumbles records. He's still active in music and still records and produces from time to time. He's also a song writer as well. Joan Jett had a hit in the 80's called "I love rock 'n' roll".

  • Also, Ringo is still a great drummer. He's a pioneer of rock who still plays.

  • What about my old Luton Mate (actually he was from Totternhoe Road, Dunstable)Clive Bunker then???

Can't believe you are serious about Ringo. Even Clem Catini knocked spots off him!

  • I'm a big fan of Clive, and I think Clem Catini is super. Anything Joe Meek and I'm also a big fan of his. Clem played drums on Donovans Hurdy Gury Man. You can tell it's him by the sound and the way he plays. I'm also a big fan of Ginger Baker, B.J Wilson, Pete Thomas, and a whole host of others. I know about plaenty of british musicians. Ian paice of Deep Purple fame and many others.

  • I also know who Carlo Little was and Phil Seamen.

  • like this fast beating melody how it starts off slow and gets faster i wouldnt like to have to play it though lol thanks ....
