Yes! There are 2 main ways to remove the bark, one is to peel it of and the other is to use a pressure washer with a rotating head to remove the bark. : )
It is videos like this that is killing the log building industry....why don't you do a video about some techniques you have created. My opinion it would be a very short video.
An ink line is a Japanese invention, the original ones dragged the line though a little bowl of ink and like a chalk line you could snap a line. The modern ones have a pin that you stick into the wood and the string also goes through ink, but it is in a sponge. There great and they retract back in to the housing after use. I like them also, because they leave a very fine line to cut to.
Very impressive freehand chainsaw skills. Believe me -- I've tried it enough to know! Mostly on big ol' honkin' oak logs that I need to split to fit on my bandsaw mill. It's tough to get a straight cut. You make it look easy! Great vid. And that is some awesome staircase work too.
Thanks!!! I'm working on making a new website all about building with logs, called "The Log Builders Workshop.com" it should be up and running hopefully in the next month or so. I trust you'll find some other interesting things there. Thanks again for comment !
I was planning to make a log picnic table in the next couple of weeks. It might take a little longer to get it on YouTube, but it should have some ideas for you. Thanks for the comments. If you subscribe to my channel then YouTube will alert you to this happening and an other videos that are uploaded. Thanks again.
Very talented, I was looking for just a very basic log table. I have about 30 round logs about 8 feet long, was looking for some Ideas on how to build a base. Then just make the bench and top of table out of the logs.
Here is the quick answer, most people own a small chainsaw and this method make it possible for most people to perform a cut of this size. I wrote a blog about this today on my site with a more complete explanation.
just had to say. all that freehand chainsawing seems unnecessarily risky and left you with a lot of cleanup work needed after
my impression is this task would be MUCH safer, accurate and faster with a chainsaw milling attachment like an Alaskan mill... why did you opt for this method instead?
