@Allthesefallentrees - The kit stacked behind Shane in this video is a Gretsch Renown Purewood Rosewood kit and the kit to the right (but appears sort of behind in the close up) is a Mapex Saturn in a Walnut finish
Fidock here. Just a couple of responses to the comments below. All much appreciated and very welcome.
I am still using one of the earliest blackwood snare drums. I have kept quite a tight tuning on this drum for over 3 years now . The hoops are a little scarred but nothing much. The tone of it is now deeper, warmer, a little less 'in your face' but still musical, articulate and broad. which why i make them like that. you can dampen but you can't add voice/tone. Cheers. Happy Drmng all
@SabianTamaDrummer Yes, you will mark them up a bit... here's what Fidock says on their site.
"Fidock steam bent hoops are built to last but in the event that a defect occurs we will examine the problem and replace the hoop if the defect is a manufacturing fault.
Because they are a natural material, Fidock hoops may occasionally need refurbishment, please contact us for further details about our restoration service."
is that a gretsch catalina club rock walnut glaze behind you?

I like the medium tuning... the low one is wizzling too much, and the high rings alot.. the medium just fits everything!

That thing must ring like a phone sex line.

With wood hoops, do they mark/dent when doing rimshots etc?
SabianTamaDrummer 1 year ago
@SabianTamaDrummer They do, but they dont break THAT easily (they do break eventually)
