@Allthesefallentrees - The kit stacked behind Shane in this video is a Gretsch Renown Purewood Rosewood kit and the kit to the right (but appears sort of behind in the close up) is a Mapex Saturn in a Walnut finish

Fidock here. Just a couple of responses to the comments below. All much appreciated and very welcome.

I am still using one of the earliest blackwood snare drums. I have kept quite a tight tuning on this drum for over 3 years now . The hoops are a little scarred but nothing much. The tone of it is now deeper, warmer, a little less 'in your face' but still musical, articulate and broad. which why i make them like that. you can dampen but you can't add voice/tone. Cheers. I like the medium tuning... the low one is wizzling too much, and the high rings alot.. the medium just fits everything!
