.gotta find that ring..that's not the ring..you said it was in the rolltop desk....I said I thought it was in the rolltop desk..or the mattress...or...gotta have that ring...well honey, it's at the bottom of a (big) lake..I don't care....but honey...I don't care.....love the kids attached by a string following singing Angel Band..while the blind train tracks man singing along then solo...GREAT fricking ending
Does anyone know a version of this song as good as this one? All I can find is a bunch of religious whack jobs ruining it. Nobody else sings it with any "soul," ironically enough.
There's just something about this version. It doesn't feel fake. Anyway, suggestions anyone?
@BadLuck765 Look for the Peasall Sister's, "Angel Band." They were the girls who sang in the movie and there's a version on here from when they're older.
@BadLuck765 Check out The Honeysuckles' two versions of it. I think the one titled "LSU Boys- Angel Band cover" is better, but there's better quality audio of the other one.
I was born raised and will die in the Mississippi delta where this movie was shot. I watched it right after the "flood" this year and this ending scene just made me realize how lucky we were that it didn't flood.
Ask and ye shall recieve, Seek and ye shall find. Go to the store and look for "Oh Brother Where Art Thou? Bonafide Rarities and Unrealeased Tracks" which has this song on it. Found my copy at Wallyworld.
She's been in so many new movies that period stuff just doesn't work- that hat, nope. And EVERY movie soundtrack/ singing parts made from about 1973 on cannot even come close to singing in the style that was really sang in the 1920's-30's? The pitch is wrong and the cadence is way wrong.
But when i saw O Brother, this song reminded me my granny who died 2 month ago. She was a good christian and i wish her Lord welcomed her to her immortal home.
Want to put it on my iPod, but can't find that version of it. All the other ones seems to be a tricked out bluegrass version that loses the "churchy" touch.
The Heaven Bound Five sang it on their album Country Gospel, Songs From The Old Country Church. Their version does have a banjo in it. It's a great track.
It was my grandfather's band. If you'd like to hear it, send me a message.
Hey, I have it in mp3 format, burned from the original vinyl 33. There is no video because the album was cut in the 70's and they were a church band. I'll load the mp3 to my linux server tonight when I get home and send you the link where you can download it... unless you'd rather me just email it to you now. I have it on my phone with me, so I could do that if you prefer.
@leftwingnazi666 Angel Band, the entire album for this movie was great. It won album of the year that year. The movie is one of my favorite adventure movie. peace.
you think the girls voices are sweet now? I go to school and am friends with the girl that looks down the railroad! she's awsome. we both r in concert choir.
If they have 7 daughters why do I only count 6? 0.o
