I have taught for 28 years. I used to love it. Now, with the ridiculous policies, the idiotic administration, the disrespectful, lazy students, and the bullying parents, I can't wait to move on to my next career. Most adults really have no idea what it is like for teachers working in the trenches. We should require ALL adults to spend 1 week / year volunteering in the schools so they would understand. I just had my post-observation last week. It was literally the exact same conversation, except instead of "unacceptable testing-instruction" it was about my "negative tone of voice" and "the timing of my lesson flow." I couldn't believe it.... I ended up having to give up 3-20 minutes from my prep periods to meet with the literacy coach, math coach, and assistant principle every week. In addition, I have to hand-in all of my next-weeks lesson plans by Friday afternoons.
