they could have come up wiht abtter title than" melting man", like the contaminated man, "stay away from him", you know. melting man sounds like he is made out of sugar or chocolate. PUHLEEEASE!
@Arionesei I'm guessing that American International thought the Melting Man would become a classic monster like Universal Studios' "Frankenstein", and "Dracula."
i actually saw this preview at a drive-in movie my parents took me to when I was about 8 years old and I started crying because I thought it was the movie they were going to show lol.
All I ever seen of this movie was the preview in theaters when going to see Close Encounters with my family. I did finally get to see it recently, and I must say even for it's time, the movie was bad.
My parents took me to see this when I was 4 years old and I was completely traumatized. They even had a guy dressed up as the melting man run through the theater! Looks tame now, but I had nightmares for months.
I first watched this on the Count Zappula horror show and it was very creepy. Some good sfx for a 70's movie. It's still a lot of fun as a late night flick.
Why did it ask for it? It's just an old fashiond monster movie thats all. I always thought the show 'Mystery Science Theater 3000 sort'a sucked myself.
No shit huh? This movie scared the hell out of me when I was little. What the hell were our parents thinking? I grew up in the 70s watching this kind of stuff and it warped my mind. Did your parents take you to see grindhouse movies like this one as often as mine did?
Come prepared? Prepared for what? It's not as bad as the other tag line for it. WATCH OUT FOR HIM,NEXT TIME YOU GO INTO SPACE. Ha,ha,ha! Yeah,I go into outer space every few weeks to just get away from all the regular craziness that's here on earth. But now that I know that he's floating around up there,I'm stayin' down here!
The reason why it's rated R is because the girl that was sitting in the police car was posing for the photographer and he wanted some shots of her breasts.Believe there's a clip of that somewhere. She's the actress that was in Laserblast.
Someone was literally trippin when they thought of this idea for a movie.

Was that nurse running away from the melting man?
Or, was she running out of the theater, away from this awful movie?

So he comes back from space, only difference is he´s dripping. Why does he have to be evil all of a sudden?
"Aaw, shit, would you look at that! My skin has become liquified. Well, only thing to do is goin´ on a good ol´ killin´ spree!"

I can't see how this guy was that much of a threat. C'mon, given enough time, wouldn't he just melt completely?

you know, the idea behind it would make a good movie today, just get new characters, sets, script, actors, a hot nurse, and Chuck Norris.

No, actually. But it has the same plot as Monster A-Go-Go, I think.

I take it that American International hoped this would become a classic like "Creature from the Black Lagoon" and Universal Studios' "Frankenstein".
