  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of NBC News' Today Reports On Willard Scott Doing The Weather On Tuesday Morning, September 8, 1987.

  • Back in the 1970's, "The Today Show" had two minute segments where they showed a silhouette of the U. S. On the inside were the weather forecasts of various cities with background music playing (sort of like what the Weather Channel has now "on the 8s"). I used to tape the various pieces of music with my Panasonic tape recorder. The songs varied from big band favorites to the theme of "Now You See it." Are there any YouTubers out there that have some of those old weather map/music clips?

  • Wow, Willard actually made sense?! o___o'' I don't wanna get old! D;

  • What happened to Canada and Mexico? Weird. The US looks as if its an island.

  • By mid-1989, Canada and Mexico had been added to this map. I believe that Alaska and Hawai'i still "floated" off by themselves at stage right.

  • This must from the summer of '87 during the NABET strike. Management apparently didn't know how to run the fancy computer graphics.

    A man named Bob Bader of Hillsdale, N.J. used to prepare the magnetic map for "Today." The magnetic map was finally retired in July 1990. Mr. Bader's hometown was the "pick city" on the final day. Willard Scott complained on the air about losing the magnetic map. He absolutely hated chromakey.
