If a person does revert to hinting, it may be because they are tired of asking and feel the weight of responsibility is not being equally carried. By hinting they are giving gentle reminders in hopes the other will eventually catch on and begin to take initiative themselves. Why does one need to be asked about things in plain view?
There are valid generalizations with gender based on research, but I think this goes too far. I do not think these are gender based ideas but personal complains based on differing differing communication styles of two human beings.

This video seems to be done all in good nature, but I find it very stereotyping and it sounds more like you are making an argument that your communication style is better.
Many of the men in my life have been very indirect and some even passive-aggressive. I tend to be very direct unless the person is not comfortable with direct I will soften my communication, but I strive for open and direct communication.

Socio-cultural influences, as well, have an effect. Since women are more verbally inclined, women should go easy on the man's inability to detect and appreciate subtleties. By the same token, men should request that a woman be more direct with them, else nothing will change. Compromise is the key.
Wow!..Beautiful video! For once someone has the balls to say something positive in this men vs women thing, all the other videos is bashing against men, so freaking ridiculous, showing an extreme hatred against men, from women, I do hate how women love to beat around the bush, it even happens at work, a female supervisor does that, at my work, never being direct, always using a passive agrressive, beat around the bush, read between the lines kind of talk, and I find it extremely annoying!
Why do women usually think they're being direct when they're saying things so contradictory to what they want? It's always the same.
