Storebought are good depending on if you get lucky. Mine's fairly loose, just a little tight for my liking. But it cuts corners up to a full piece, which is awesome.

Oddly, the cheapest cubes (except for a dollar store cube) are the best, and the worst are more expensive.

My DS cube is pretty good. It does cut corners suprisingly well. I guess i got lucky on this one.

Some like to sand off the colors first, but it shouldn't make much of a difference.

the thing is rubiks brand cubes were the first of their kind, so obviously they will be bad and then the newer brands will learn from their mistakes and meke them better

i just got 2 new dian shengs today

the white stickers still have a bit dirt on them :O

But they have a nice texture

not sure about the states, but in canada it depends on how much you order, for example i ordered a square 1 and 5 dianshengs and air shipping ended up being more expensive than the $16 EMS shipping. But when i ordered my pvc megaminx and diy cube, air shipping whas cheaper

Did you buy it at a store? If so, you should know that there are no screws, just permanently attatched rivots, and the center caps are melted on because there is nothing to adjust.

the problem with that is, these can be adjusted, they can have the center caps removed, and their attached to screws, not rivets.

The Dian Sheng cubes that are painted can't cut corners well at all, as you said. However, the Dian Sheng cubes that are stickered can cut corners very well. On eBay, the user Rubikfans (same person as Cube4you and Cubefans) sells stickered and painted Dian Shengs

If you really did get a dianshng cube, I was unaware they made yellow ones. Is it possible you could send me a link to the website you got them, or send me a picture of it?

Eitherway, if it really is a diansheng cube, then I would imagine that it has no difference in performance then the normal white ones.

Are diansheng cubes better than rubik's diy in terms of overallness?

The Rubik's DIY I have sucks totally. I can't even edit it because they glued the caps on. Maybe I got a bum cube, but from my experience, Rubik's DIY is a cube for modding, cutting, glueing, etc.

If I were to get a new DIY from Rubik's I could make a better judgement though.
