i have around the same year r1 mine is 2001 i like the look of that older r1 but it has carbs on it no fuel injection still pretty fast were the newer bikes get me is in top end 0 to 60 is around the but who rides around at 150 but thats were the hayabusa really over power every thing in higher speeds

yes, the R1 rider did lift the throttle. plus the speedo is not accurate after 100mph. Had my R1 reading 199 but i know its not that fast, problby tops out around 180-185. The R1 is a better all around bike, the only thing the bussa is good for is going in a straight line.

Geometrically , the R1 can out corner the Busa however, you put Valentino Rossi on a Busa & he will out corner an average lecenced rider on an R1 .

Yes you're right, in de first moment it looks like the rear wheel is not at the ground but after the slow motion, you can recognize that this first impression is wrong. Hayabusa is so damn fast, but the Yamaha R1 is still the first Street Bike for me
