Textbooks shouldn't be pro or anti American. They should have a neutral stance, describing history as it actually happened and should try to minimize bias as much as possible.
Interestingly enough one of the first things Hitler did when he came into power was Nazify the school cirriculum. "Less useful" subkects were dropped and pleanty of time was given to PE (to achieve a physicly strong base of recruits for the armed forces) and history, so as soon as Hitler was in a generation of children were being taught that all of Germany's problems were the Jew's fault. If a textbook is for or against ANYTHING it has failed as it's use as a textbook and become propaganda.

People should learn about religion and the role it plays/played in society and in the shaping of America. This has nothing to do with forcing or even encouraging people to believe a certain faith or dogma. According to most of the founding fathers, John Calvin's thought influenced their ideas even though most weren't strict Calvinists by that point. Except for Jefferson, most saw Calvin as their intellectual precursor because of their emphasis on separation of powers
To really report on this maybe you should ask the people who live in this school district what they think. I don't know their views on this, but if they are for this they pay the taxes for their school. If one school district does this that does not at all take away the rights of another district. That sounds very much like propaganda to me.
History is history. You cannot just change a textbook and make it "pro-American". You can't just take certain things out of the history textbook simply because you don't like it or it's against your political agenda. That goes completely against the concept of education itself. The term seperation of Church and State come from a letter Thomas Jefferson wrote to a Baptist. Its purpose is to protect religious freedom from other religions. It's not meant to silence faith in God or an excuse to omit the countries Judeo Christian founding, history and values.

Interestingly enough one of the first things Hitler did when he came into power was Nazify the school cirriculum. "Less useful" subkects were dropped and pleanty of time was given to PE (to achieve a physicly strong base of recruits for the armed forces) and history, so as soon as Hitler was in a generation of children were being taught that all of Germany's problems were the Jew's fault. If a textbook is for or against ANYTHING it has failed as it's use as a textbook and become propaganda.

People should learn about religion and the role it plays/played in society and in the shaping of America. This has nothing to do with forcing or even encouraging people to believe a certain faith or dogma. According to most of the founding fathers, John Calvin's thought influenced their ideas even though most weren't strict Calvinists by that point. Except for Jefferson, most saw Calvin as their intellectual precursor because of their emphasis on separation of powers

I don't know their views on this, but if they are for this they pay the taxes for their school. If one school district does this that does not at all take away the rights of another district.
