i have trouble with rotating my right wrist at any kind of speed for trilling or tremelo on notes, my left hand is fine (i am left handed) is it likely that practice will resolve this?
@compton3c All good points, I think. The only problem with separating more basic videos on to a different channel is that it takes a pretty big investment of time to promote a whole new channel! Right now I'm looking at ways of differentiating videos within the channel as the number of them grows. Re: what you've said on my channel page, hopefully the Basics vids that I'm planning will help - certainly you sound like exactly the kind of audience I'm looking at:)
Perhaps for novices, there should be some separation from the techniques videos, is that possible on the same channel, or would it be necessary to do it on another channel, or just the title different? It might get monotonous searching if they're mixed up--I don't know, but just giving food for thought and let me know your answer. I'm a beginner, edging towards Intermediate. I'm starting to get hand independence. Not reading much music but can ID notes but not scales. Wanting to play in church..
Well Bill, you are a gr8 teacher. Im pretty sure you would explain piano for beginners quite well and if it will attract more people to your channel so be it, cuz obviously you deserve far more viewers. But keep in mind people need a lot of motivation while learning new stuff. So just showing them how Cmaj etc works could not work that well. Maybe you could play some popular songs and make a HowTo tutorial and explain the theory at the same time. Only the theory could be boring.
The hardest part of all this is to avoid looking so intensely at my left hand, which takes all the brain power away that would be used for bringing in the right hand!!
How can you practice this without looking since there's no time to fidget into the keys with the fingers?!? Rhetorical question, I know. "Practice practice practice!"
@fxdlriderny one way is to remember a pattern of the stride, try to remember ur exact movement of the stride - remember the exact distance that way u would develop a feeling and u would'nt have to isolate ur attention on ur left hand
