even xsurfthelightningx is getting converted using the WAY old hq hack. and videos with the newer w16 method are getting converted to just the thumbnail at the beginning. suckage! but found a few users who didn't, one is FreeOurTube, but whenever i try to examine his videos, i get an error message on WinXP and Vista. but i'm sure its because the metadata. so the callback thing a friend told me must be a myth, or complete fallacy!

Interesting. Without parsing the header properly, look for the string 'duration' near the start. The next 9 bytes are the important ones.

0 indicates the value of key 'duration' is of amf type number. The next 8 are the duration in seconds, in the format of a standard double.

So the 'code' actually starts with the 40, thus

2^(0x408 - 1023) * 0x1.2c =

2^9 * 300/256 =

600
