Mr Rand you have the Bridge - Sir? - You are qualified arent you? - Yes sir? - You can look at screens and lean on your hand, yes? - Yes but.. - You can look pretty? - Yeah... - You have a short skirt on? - Well.. - And you can cross your legs suggestively - Hmmm - And you know how to stare without blinking - Huh? - With a blank look on your face... - Of course. - Well, you definitely have the bridge, Mr Rand!
Whats with the Elvis hairdo?? I half ass expect captain Kirk to say" thank you, thank you very much" and sing few verses of "you aint nothin but a hound dog" Good show, acting needs some work, but the characterizations are right on.
@unclefixer It's my understanding that Cawley is, in fact, an Elvis impersonator. Actually, I think the performances are just about spot on. Remember, there were NO Oliviers in the original series. More nuanced acting might actually hurt the feel.
Sure, make a big deal about giving the bridge to a woman right after saying something sexist, and right before another sexist sceene, why would any crewmen be sorry about stunning an intruder? I don't mind the dated attitudes in TOS, it was quite forward thiking for the time. TAS, which came out right after TOS, had very little of that, and had Uhura taking command all the time. The movies had even less sexism. Why would they put that in something made so recently?
Al Rashied........... interesting concept; the idea that there'll be ARABS in the 23rd Century! LOL! Unless the bit is meant in the same spirit as naming one of the shuttles "Atlantis"! :-D
@lonstar70 ...well who fired a photo torpedo up your bottom end, and for your information ronald d moore writer of star trek ds9 and battlestar galactica is a fan of space 1999., so lets not waste time firing insulting snippets. i very much would enjoy the chance to visit the star trek phase 2 sets someday. believe me if i won the lotta, lord that would be nice, st ar trek phase 2 would have an investor.
Is there any reason at all why the chick has to be naked and then dance around in the green girl form? This has nothing to do with the story, and is just plain stupid time filler. Though...she IS hot...
the STOS music is good , however could use a little tweaking, some of it plays good but runs over and doesn't fit the momemt of the scene. other than that an impressive job.
think you guys at star trek phase 2 could do an up date of space 1999?
@alshakur1 Why would they do that? It cost them over 100K just to begin doing this "Star Trek" project, I really doubt they would "update" some crap like Space 1999. Jeeeez. Do you think they just sit around waiting for requests?
@chgohsngauth Actually the engines were capable of (old warp scale) atleast warp 10, in a couple of episodes of the old show she ship was temporarily pushed to that speed but the sheering stresses at higher warp would risk destroying it if ran too long, presumably that is why they started refitting the fleet, so they could run faster and more efficiently.
Apparently in the world of Star Fleet, the terms "Mr." and "sir" are considered gender neutral and apply to women as well as men. As I recall, this was evident in the movie Star Trek II: WOK as well as in Star Trek Voyager where Capt. Janeway was addressed as "sir" many times.
What exactly is "Phase 2"? Was this made by fans??? No way! It's amazing! The music, the decor, the costumes, the dialogue... It's like watching the real thing. Of course, it's not the same without the real actors, but I thought they were pretty good. And god, Spock is gorgeous!! :P
Back in 1977, Paramount planned to relauched the Trek franchise with "Star Trek: Phase II", with a refitted Enterprise and some new characters. But with the influence of Star Wars and Close Encounters, Paramount took the "Phase II" pilot into "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" instead. THIS is a fan-made series known originally as "Star Trek: New Voyages", continuing where TOS left off...and they're been converting eventually to the "Phase II"/"Motion Picture" era... :D

The hell? "Mr.Rand"? thats derogatory. He SHOULD have referred to her by her rank.
CaptnStarbring 2 years ago
He addressed a female as "Mr.".
Shouldn't that be "Miss"?
awhitsel 2 years ago
Did anyone notice that the Captain address the ensign as "Mr Rand" instead as he gives her command of the bridge during the intruder alert?
I also wasn't aware that the Enterprise had the ability to travel warp 8 at this point. hmmmm

By the way: In the show Janice Rand was a Yeoman and not an Ensign. And why "Mister"? She definately is a woman.

At 4:26, the writers completely stole a line of dialogue from the TNG pilot episode "Encounter at Farpoint". Not cool.
