  • Do you use the 8 strand, or the 7 strand paracord?

  • this knot is also called a butterfly knot

  • that's so cool

  • Ill be doing this with a 1000ft spool. I am getting few spools and ill be storing them in different ways.

1 will be this donut method

2 will be Slatt's Rescue Belt

    3 I am thinking a daisy chain

  • TOO COOL!!!

  • Great "How To" video. I have to make a bunch of these for our SWAT team and pictures and descriptions don't quite cut it as well as a video Thanks.

  • Nice Thors hammer.

  • Thank you for the video. I use the same knot to tie down things in the back of my work truck. I do 3 knots in a roll, and I have yet to see something come untied~but I am sure there will be a 1st time~LOL. I like it because it is so easy to untie. Have a great day and I hope you have a Merry Christmas!

  • Critr', pretty soon we will see you on Discovery Channel with Dave and you'll have to stop making videos too. lol

  • @spicymchaggis666 I wouldn't hold your breath on that . I don't think I'm the TV type. But thanks for the compliment!-Critr'

  • hey guys, I have been having a real hard time finding some bank line like dave uses. Where can I purchase some bank line?

  • @Greatbear1982 I saw in another post that it is available from Bass Pro Shop. It is the Mariner® Tarred Twisted Nylon Twine.

  • @spicymchaggis666 thanks ill check it out. That will help me a bunch on trying to hunt some down.

  • @Greatbear1982 they sell it on their site now

  • its knitting with your fingers

  • Great tip. Thanks for the videos

  • I do this, but rather than as a donut, I just put a simple coil back and forth as the core, then do this up and down the outside. It looks kinda like a caterpillar- which is why I call it a "caterpillar coil". Packs smaller I think, and doesn't get caught on stuff. Keeps your hands busy while you melt your brain with TV, and if you have to entertain a smile child, the catepiller puppets go nom-nom-nom. *grins*

  • so basicly single chain crocheting around a core of rope ! nice! also a heads up to any one that has a loved one or friend that crochets. talk to them about it .it is a great skill to add to your set and can be aplied to just about any cordage to make some very useful things!

  • sweet!

  • Sort of reminds me how electricians loop their extension cords. And how seamtresses loop their buttonholes. Nice to see the technique apply to another function.

  • Cool!

  • Seems like a good project to make time pass while serving a 30 year prison sentence.

  • do you have to alternate which side you pull through the loop?

  • Great Video thanks for sharing.

  • i like!!! :):):)

  • nice . well worth the effort

  • Cool!

  • Great video brother, and a very useful one indeed.

  • I prefer a small butterfly coil, like you would use to transport climbing rope. Doesn't tangle easily, and very quick to pack back up. - Joe

  • All I did was daisy chain this looks a lot better. thanks.

  • Great idear thank you

  • Super knot skill! Many thanks for showing. ATB Sepp

  • Thanks Steve. Take care

    Nate

  • That is really clever. Though all I kept thinking was how this method would be perfect for making some paracord ornaments that you could then give to people when your done.

  • shweeet

  • Steve - thanks for showing how to do that! Great job.

  • Nice, Looking forward to giving this a go

  • Do this on the toilet, when you get bored with the USCav/ColdSteel/Midway/Cabelas catalogs.

  • @032125 and the new cheaperthandirt hasn't come yet =p

  • Great tip, thank you for sharing this, best wishes and take care bro.

  • you have bee referring to yourself by your name more than the usual critter. Is here a possible show for another fellow ohioian in the works? Love the videos.

  • Great tip, thanks

  • Such a 'duh, I shoulda thought of that' moment

  • That's a great trick. Thanks for the demo brother.

  • no dont get the cord from my donut get it of the roll ..lol.. well i guess thats a way to pass time while your bored on a rainy day. why dont you make a survival sweater from cordage next?

  • @DeimosSaturn That intro is from MacGyver, one of the best TV shows of all time.-Critr'

  • @woodcrafter76 I think i've never watched a single episode of that show.

  • Steve that is really sweet. Its just like a chain sinnet, but so much easier to store and take with you.

  • Great video Steve... I'll have to try that sometime.

  • Critr's got an earring! ;D i figured ya too hick for that

(this comment was not meant in a derogatory manor, i have 2 big rabbit teeth stickin through my ears haha)

  • i wish krispy kreme sold them...

  • Mmmmmm donuts. All I need is frosting! Lol

  • Thanks Steve, Very clear and easy way to do it...great vid! ❺★★★★★

  • cool method thanks for sharing...

  • nice one Steve.

Just one thing, you need a new photo at the front of your video's !.

One that's in focus might be best :)

  • I discovered that wrap a while ago - it's really great for storing your emergency cordage. I've got a "donut" that I throw in my pack for every hike.

  • 1000FT?

  • Interesting I hae a way that is way quicker. Grab the paracord and leave about 3 ft hanging out run to the other end and half the cord then half it then half it till you have a series of halves that you can take the 3 ft and go around all the halves snugly after doing that feed the tip through one side of the halves a few times. Works for power cords or computer cables I have all my excess cable shortened this way. I think I will post a video.

  • I'd like to see a vid on that. If it's what I'm imagining, it seems good for storage, but not so much for pulling out a pinch. Either way, make a vid on it so we can see what you mean.

  • @cdltpx Wouldn't you have to undo the whole thing to get say 20' out of the roll? With this method all you do is pull out what you need.- Critr'

  • @woodcrafter76 True but I can unroll the entire thing and have it wrapped again under 3 min and I am fat and slow and handicapped. The doughnut really looks cool when it is done neat skill thanks for posting.

  • @cdltpx Good point- Critr'

  • Good idea.

  • Kick ass!

  • Thanks for this interesting method.

  • That looks like it would be much faster with a crochet hook. I think I'll try it sometime this week.

  • @lonasunde13 my wife does this with a crochet hook very fast.-Critr'

  • Critter, now that's service for you! On demand vids. Nice one. Thanks

  • Thank you Steve!

    Great way to store paracord.

  • Bring back DAVE!

  • @Mypaladingdong Hey retard, Dave is busy with dual survival! So shut up and watch Critr

  • cool

  • Thanks for posting this so fast, very interesting way to store cordage.

  • For sure handy, will try out, thank you and take care.

  • I've made lanyards like this. It's a crochet knot that unties very cleanly. Well done. Thanks for showing the doughnut method.

  • awesome! thanks a lot.
