this is the worst  harddrive in the world. I had 2 pieces and both was broken. Seria 7200.11 is broken!! Never buy this hardware, i dont know how working another company, but seagate is realy not good!!

7200.11 has a known firmware fault, if u buy one look into the appropriate firmware update instantly!

But be carefull.

I had mine for 9 months and it fucked up, I was so pissed! Now im reading that 100s of 1000s of people have had the same prob. Just a shit drive from a company that is usually excellent

I guess I wasn't lucky, my seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 500GB SATA-II 32MB lasted for 6 months, it waited till I filled it with data and then died! Is there some way to gat the data back!??

maybe, did your windows just screw up or has the hdd died died??? if it was windows that you should be able to plug the hdd into another machine and recover all the data

no, mate, i have my windows on another hdd, this seagate was just secondary disc. I still have windows on my samsung, but i can't see my 500 gigs barracuda not even in bios... aaaargh! but it is stil under waranty for another 2 and a half years, but what good is that if i can't get my data back!! thanks for the reply, anyway, man!

its the full monty 500gb of data, i think i had maybe about 50gb free :( it is still working, it is turning, no funny sounds at all, just like before, only XP and bios don't reckognise it... i had all my programs, all downloaded tv shows, lots of family pics, personal documents and other shi&*((*^t, that was my storage cause i thought "its new, it will hold", and i was so wrong... i'll pray tonight all night in my sleep and take it then to the store to hear what they have to say bot that... :(

careful, i'm not sure about the stores in Serbia but here in UK big stores or chain stores, the people working there havn't got a clue about stuff. and if it is a small store carefu again they might try to scam you so how =p i was this video for a data recovery company Data labs or something and they help police and stuff to recover files from hard drives maybe a similar company in Serbia ? =\ let me know how it goes.

What's the read speed like on the 7200.11 ? I know it says 128mb/s, but that's almost as fast as a SSD?

I have 80gb 7200 RPM (can't remember read speed) and It takes about 20-30seconds just to load up a Far Cry level, which is ridiculous. Almost 4 hours to defrag.
