What could a man on crutches do except to endanger the whole organization. Were they really so naive? Maybe so, most pilots were barely out of their teens and from upper crust background. They were trying to kill Germans, so how could they imagine the Germans were going to look on them, even if they were 'decent' military types and not Nazis?

Yes, the 'ambulance men', eg the Belgians, killed Walker, as he would be too conspicious to move down the line, and already knew too much about the line. That is what made this series great: no black and white defintions of heroes and villains

actually I think it was "a german bullet", because when the british pilot, being send in to help the lifeline (forgot his name now) offered money, guns etc.. Monique answered, "no thanks, we use german guns"
