@Riff28Raff Well, I wouldn't want to overstate the numbers of Scots-Irish, as I've never seen anything that gives a definitive number. American records are sketchy and it's impossible to tell exactly how many came from N.Ireland vs southern Ireland or Scotland over that 100 year period.

@Riff28Raff We received a few thousand Scots-Irish beginning in 1718 and continuing through the late 1700's. (The 1790 American census says there were a total of 3 million people in the US at that time). We also took in about 500,000 Irish due to the potato famine...1840's-1850's primarily. So, yes, America has plenty of folks with both Scotttish and Irish heritage.

You forgot the father of the modern Irish whiskey industry and grandfather of Marconi the inventor of the radio. James Jameson was a Scot who emigrated to ireland and invented the triple distiled method of Jamesons Irish whiskey. Also Marconi would be of scottish descent as well.
