@PaleRider626 It is the Swiss they looked at the AK and said the tollerances should be tighter, so they made them that way. They build some great stuff, but they did tighten the tollerances a little much for me too. They would not think of running steel cased ammo, like the AK was designed to do. The original Swiss forarm helps with weight up front.
@semiautoriflelover1 No I ground my bolt with a dremel and made a vid on it a couple of years ago. There were only some of them that did it and I had one.
The top lower reciever is off of the sig classic while the other is from the sig 556 er design, looks like his hand guards are swat or aftermarket though. The ER is also heavier then the classic.
I have a 2010 556, love the gun, have put about 1000 rounds through it, not one ftf, fte or any other problems. I purchased it to replace my bushmaster because I was tired of cleaning the GI system. The Sig runs much cleaner as a GP.
'Hell they're not even playing the same game. LMAO!!! That was funny.. I just bought mine today with the folding stock I'm in Cali so i have to wait 10 days!
@Frankheale Actually i bought at turners on sale. My bro just bought one also at turners, he got a way better deal then i did he got his for a Grand!!! Cause they ordered the wrong model...Anyways you can always try out calguns.net in the for sale section. Hope that helps....
Nice. Glad I read this before buying. Do the new models have the same problem with the carrier/bolt where you have to sand it down? Thanks for this great info, couldn't find any other old vs. new comparos anywhere else.
@rchen404 The CNC work on the new trunion is better and the removeable pins are great. I have been dealing with shitty QC since they moved to the US this is not a new problem.
@bigdaddyitalia22 It all depends what you like. I prefer the AK and with current prices on the Sig's they are attractive. If I could only buy one? I would learn as much as I could about AK's and learn what to look for at the best price. It money is not an object then AR and then Sig. If you are left handed then AK and Sig. I prefer the new Sig and AK.
Shoot what you can and learn what you like... that is my best advice.
can u make a vid on how u radiused the bolt carrier. I just bought mine for 1180 with tax from my local gun dealer. He said it was the 556005 with the CTR fixed m4 stock I don't know as of yet if it has the swat rails we will see.
My uneducated opinion is that the mistake SIG USA made on SG556 is that they should have made minimal redesign from SG550 instead of making it "Americanized" and "tactical." If I want a SG556 (which I don't), then I want it to look like SG550 with STANAG or Mini-14 mag compatibility. Then they can make kits for those who want to make it more "tactical." In the end, they realized this and the newer version looks a lot more resemble to the original.
@ChaohsiangChen That is reasonable. They did this with the American pistols also. The originals functioned better... there is no question of that. They managed to mess up designs that had no problems and functioned flawlessly.
@gunskniveswatches I am confused by your question. I'm totally dry and learning Russian is still on my lifetime to-do list, still unchecked. Maybe you have replied to the wrong guy.
@ChaohsiangChen Your vidio shots on your channel, I had to learn Russian in school. I just wondered. I understood the formal Russian more than I understood the other's on the game. I was just watching your channel and thought to ask.

@PaleRider626 The new one with the short gas system is heavy, really?
Fickle about ammo honestly, as long as you don't shoot Russian crap what is the problem?
I have not had any problems out of the first gen what about you? Except for the bolt in which I repaired in lite 10 minutes.....

would you trade an AK for a 556?
southerner985 9 months ago
@southerner985 No I have to have the rail to mount optics so to me there is not a comparison, but I am an AK person.

since the newer one has the folding stock, is it possible to change out the factory stock for a different one?
