I got one for my xf some years ago. Does yours have a "headlights on" warning light or beeper? Mine doesn't. I found that it can get scrambled up from condensation some mornings too.
Nope, no warning at all if I left the headlights on, but I didn't consider that to be a big deal because the headlight switch makes it fairly obvious if the headlights are on I thought.
Never experienced that condensation problem myself, but it makes sense.

If you mean all the segments lighting up at the start, then yes, that way you can see if any of them are faulty and not lighting up like they should.
If you mean the flickering, then that's a result of being captured with a digital camera, there is no visible flicker in real life.
