I've been looking for a good version of this for years. ....and now I've found one. I used to have a great version on vinyl by a Swiss lautenist who's name I can't remember. It was recorded in the 70's I believe. Would anyone know his name?
Sorry if I don't answer to each single comment, but I ensure you that your feedback give me a great feeling, strength and inspiration, sincerely. Thank a lot to you all.
@dontbannme2540 THAT is a great comment! :-) Yes, George has been already told several times that he looks like me...Well, actually there is a strong connection between me and Clooney: I come from the same town as his ex girlfriend Elisabetta...
Brilliant! Only 1 thing to say though. I think your nails should be filed so that when the nail touches the string it would do it in straight angle. That would remove the extra sound of "screech" or "scratch" that I can hear pretty distinctively. So this would lead to a more pure sound ;) Not that your playing is technically bad, it is brillian in my opinion ^^ ps. the "screech" is not THAT bad but still wanted to say :D
@GuitaristaDeFlamenco Thanks very much for your kind posting. I can ensure you, that the sound I got is just what I was looking for, it fits to my idea of this music. Maybe if you look at these two videos you can better understand what I mean:
Maria Rita Menina da lua
Pavarotti Nessun dorma
two very different musical situation, each with its adequate 'sound' ;-)
Bellisimo, Luciano. Complimenti. Is there any special reason why some players -like Hopkinson Smith or Gustav Leonhardt on cembalo- don't repeat the second part of the Allegro? Salutazione (Valencia, Spagna).
@drinal100 Grazie! Many times the second part is longer than the first and presents a reprise, so that the last cadence sounds very 'ending' and can lead you not to repeat the second part.
It gave me an immense pleasure to see Luciano in good health, masterfully plays his chitarrone. I have had already noted distinguished virtuosity of this talented Renaissance man back in late 1980s when he was working on Concerti Grossi & Sonate di Chiesa collection di Corelli with the Petite Bande.
You do not really need a cembalo when Luciano does the continuo. Corelli, Bach, Handel all had great use of chitarrone in their orchestras. Beside the tradition by Bach using Lute in orchestra as seen in St Thomas Kirch in Leipzig today, Corelli, Haendel, Scarlatti all had great use of chitarrone in their orchestras.
In 1970s I ve used an oscilloscope to analyse the harmonic distortion of valious instrument. Liuto has the least harmonic distortions and is the best accompaniment for both voice and winds including organ and trumpets. Listen to a note began on a liuto followed by organ or trumpet, the transition is so smooth and harmonious that it is hard to tell the timber cross over. Biber & Schmelzer are known to use this this co-resonance effect as advantage to enhance their music.
You are a true musician. The lute is such an insightful instrument. It is intimate and perfect in every way. You do much justice to the art of the lute and of music. Thank you.
Merci de ton passage. J'en suis d'autant plus heureux que ça m'a donné l'occasion de découvrir tes propres vidéos ! Je suis très impressionné. Ton interprétation est superbe et quel instrument !
Thank you for posting more, here and as mp3 files on your website. I have your CD's, but being able to access the files whenever I am online allows me to listen to you at any time, even when working, What a gift! - Lucia
