Hong Kong is China. Hk people are Chinese. think otherwise, and u are just ignorant and should die cause u are making a HK Chinese, like myself look bad.
it's simply not a matter of arrogance. a lot of anti-mainland sentiment stems from the way that mainland tourists/immigrants behave in hk. squatting, urinating/defecating in MTR trash cans - stuff like that.
and it's preposterous to think that hkers don't consider themselves chinese - hk is still using traditional characters!
alright, sound is fine now. to hellojp: HK people have every reason not to speak english perfect, it's not their mother tongue, besides they speak chinese(cantonese) on daily life, and people are trying to speak mandarin better. so peace everybody
the reason less mainland people are visiting hong kong because u can buy almost anything and more from the mainland...and for a lot cheaper price too!
alright! I apologize for what i said about hongkongnese are not chinese, i was angry about how handful hongkongese do not understand their own culture because of british influence, hopefully more Chinese from hongkong will understand indepth of chinese culture and value. Down with Britain!
It's not entirely our fault that some of us don't value our traditions and cultures. 75% of the Chinese population in HK came from different parts of Mainland China, how are we not Chinese? Do you seriously think that we would've looked down on the importance of our own culture if we'd never been influenced by Western imperialist and colonialist powers that distorted our values by force?
And the communists destroyed a lot of our country's traditions and values during the Cultural Revolution. Somehow, in some ways thanks to the overseas Chinese in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the West to preserved some of our old traditional habits and values. Otherwise, we wouldn't have had anything left.
alright! I apologize for what i said about hongkongnese are not chinese, i was angry about how handful hongkongese do not understand their own culture because of british influence, hopefully more Chinese from hongkong will understand indepth of chinese culture and value. Down with Britain!

What? Every single one of them? Do you personally know every single Hong Konger on earth?
Please Don't be so shallow making comments like that! I do agree many Hong Kongers are rather shallow and superficial. But your generalization makes you look worse.
hongkongness=not Chinese, China dont want hongkong any way, Hongknogness do not carry any Chinese value but superfacial western capitalistic value. Ill never go to hongkong in the future! lol
One of the reason why less mainlander tourists went to HongKong this years is because people are hearing stories of unscrupulous shop keepers who ripped off mainlanders, this contributed to lesser interest for them to come; besides, there are more options open to them now, they can go to Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan or Japan ...
One of the reason why less mainlander tourists went to HongKong this years is...
..that more and more have more money and choose other destinations. Travel for PRCren means basically to havething in hand to show off with back home, and HK is simply not such a "WAAAAAH" destination anymore.
i dont ever look down on mainlanders and im from hk. hmm hk is pretty polluted i remember when i visited, the first thing when i woke up. i couldnt open my eyes because i had eye crust lmao
haha oh and the taiwanese are the same? they were formally owned by japan. so are they slaves as well? hong kong citizens were not slaves to Britan. please, watch your mouth.
Hey at least as British subjects, we don't have to work on rice paddies, beat up our parents and teachers, not have enough food to eat, or get murdered by army tanks and bullets. If you think HK people are dirty, please take a good look at how mainland people spit, litter, and cut in queues everywhere.
so hk people are of a higher class than mainland people... you are the perfect example of an arrogant hk person who has no appreciation for their real motherland.. no one is going to mistake you for a british person so why pretend you are one, british subject ya right go ask any british person if they consider you to be british
arrogant or not, hk people do have a higher class than most mainlanders. there is a civility and respect for society, laws, and environment and professionalism not seen in mainlanders. for example, I've seen many mainlanders spitting on the street when they have phlegm or cursing aloud publically. in one case I saw a mainlander changing clothes in the clothing store but not in the fitting room, nor did he fold the shirt when he placed it back on the rack.
wow what an idiot. do mainlanders walk around with a sign that says theyre from the mainland? okay then you must have mainland radar. and also i like how you defend your opinion by dissing mainlanders, and that automatically makes you "a higher class" okay buddy. seriously how old are you? and think about what you're saying ur worse than a racist.
If you know even a little bit of Chinese, Chinese, you can actually tell the difference between Mandarin(spoken in most of mainland china, and Cantonese.(spoken in HK) Even the Cantonese speaking mainlander, may have slightly different accent than HK Cantonese.
You unfortunately cannot grasp the simple fact that the mainland is many times larger than hong kong and is not simply a enormous sprawling urban space. There are many rural people in the mainland who have had no need to know of western societies rules. In the larger cities of mainland china there is more civility and respect as you say but even then there is still a large rural aspect in the chinese cities which is not so in hong kong. the opinion of class is invalid due to the size of mainland
since when did respecting the public peace, policies, cleanliness of the streets, and general politeness become "western societies rules?" I thought we the Chinese had always prided ourselves as the people of Confucius, and we all know what he taught long before the West ever caught on to being nice to one another.
So Hong Kong had a higher class than the mainland before the British took over then? Are you really going to disregard the British influence in HK? I said "western society rules" in response to your use of western society examples - such as changing clothes in the fitting room etc... unless Confucius taught the chinese not to do that... I mentioned nothing about politeness or cleanliness of the streets.
No I think the mainland just went under after the Commies came. You're getting ridiculous...how is changing clothes in the fitting room a western concept in any way? The fact that people should change clothes out of public view is common sense. Ever heard of modesty? You know, one of the many things important to Confucianism? We had changing rooms (or areas) in ancient times too you know. It was I who mentioned politeness and clean streets, and the lack thereof in mainland.
yes or no. if you had noticed the air condition during chinese new year while most of the factories in southern china were shut down for holidays, the smog was quite serious too. the power plants in hong kong itself "contribute" a lot and worsen the smog situation....
You should see "Sexy Beijing" by Su Fei on youtube. This Jewish girl did a documentary of Beijing people with their English name and you won't believe how ridiculous mainland English are.
Well, they are in China, and China's official language does NOT include English, Mandarin is the only official language. HK's official languages include English. HK people have absolutely no excuse for not speaking English perfectly since HK had been a colony of UK for a little more than a century.
Well not everyone in China can speak Mandarin either. And it's the official language of China. I've seen numbers of mainlander who speak Mandarin with a their thick rural accent. Mainland people have no excuse for not speaking Mandarin properly since it's been the official language for many decades.
Yes, Mandarin has been the offical language for many decades, not more than century. Speaking Mandarin with a dialect accent does not mean their Mandarin is not perfect. It only means they have a dialect accent, which is commonly spoken in their own provinces. Whereas for HK people, even without considering their heavy accent, their English is not anywhere near perfect.
