  • For those asking about bones, those saying cooked are mostly right -- it's mostly Baking and BBQ that makes the bones brittle, if you're going to cook your meat and not give it to them raw, then slow-cook it with some veggies or something for their food, 10-or so hours, the bones will be soft enough even you can eat them without a problem. Check out DrGregDVM 's channel, he has a couple of vids on this topic

  • is it okay to feed your pups raw chicken with bone like above video when they're teething..?

    thx..

  • isn't she kind of young for weight bearing bones? chicken backs, necks, ribs will be less hard on her developing teeth.

  • chicken bones are dangerous for a dog because they splinter

  • @carolis212 only when cooked, raw bones do not splinter. you should ALWAYS supervise your pet when feeding them raw though

  • Is there a choking hazard? I mean yeah in real life animals eat other animals but...you know..? lol

  • do you clean her every time she's done? wouldn't this spread salmonella all over?

  • @Theavenue22 This is a very good question. She only eats outside and I occasionally clean the floor with diluted chlorine. I never had a problem.

  • Vets will say that if you feed your dog raw that it will make them agressive but that is just to scare the owners into buying the clinics grain based diets such as science diet and royal canin which is actually worse for the dog then raw. Dogs are supposed to have a mixture of raw meat, organs and bones to maintain a healthy body weight, teeth and coat. It also helps to make their breath. That is their natural DIET not kibble made from CEREAL! i know this because i worked at an animal hospital.

  • @xshawtiex Well said. Thank you for the comment.

  • @xshawtiex Chicken bones are not good for a dog. Ask your vet. Don't take advice from internet posters. Raw meat won't make your dog mean, but raw chicken with bones is dangerous. If you haven't seen a good vet yet, you should.

  • @stingraybch Raw bones are fine, cooked (chicken, mostly) bones are a brittle and are dangerous.

  • @xshawtiex umm, can I cook the meat? Or get like boneless chicken? or maybe boneless raw meat? I'm pretty sure those are fine but I wanted to check.

  • @xshawtiex

    vets spend years in university

they know more than you can even imagine

  • @SG02JATT Vets spend an average of 8 hours on pet nutrition. Most of the nutrition classes are sponsored by commercial pet food companies like Iams and pedigree. The easiest way to see what your animal should be eating is to look at what they are biologically designed (look at their teeth) to eat. Do you see any flat molars in a dogs mouth for grinding plants and grains? Nope. Dogs are carnivores. They eat meat.

  • Love it! We're on the same movement and the results are unbelievable. We've had a lot of luck with some ground options, but every weekend I try to include a big chicken quarter or other bone. (mine prefers beef)

Any vet who says a dog will become "viscous" after eating a raw diet should have their license revoked.

We log our experiences here: NorthwestDog (com)

Keep posting the vids of Flame! Beautiful pup

  • Vet is ignorant. I bet he pushes Science Diet which is grain based & after many recalls, vets are still pushing it. My dogs & cats have been eating raw for six years & are very healthy.

Many pets today have dental disease by age 3 & cancer, heart disease, allergies, diabetes & obesity are increasing.

  • @tmhteacher Great. What do you feed your cats? I just adopted two kittens.

  • @rotkob

I grind necks, gizzards, liver, egg with shell, veggies (kale, carrots, papaya, parsley, turnip greens) & fish oil capsul. You can buy frozen raw@pet stores or internet. You could use ground turkey, chicken, or beef with organ meat & veggies, but you would have to add vitamin & calcium supp. Some of my cats have been eating this way since 7 wks old. 90% meat to 10 % veggies. Dry food causes tarter, obesity & diabetes in cats. It has addictive substances sprayed on it. No carbs!

  • she looks so happy... lol

  • I don't know if it's preferred to give dogs raw meat, a vet told me that it will become viscous afterwards, if u know sthn about it please clarify

  • @MrTeG3SH and sick i forgot sick

  • @MrTeG3SH That vet obviously doesn't know much. Don't go to him again.

  • @MrTeG3SH Ask you vet why? Sounds very suspicious. Yes, you should change vet. Your vet is simply ignorant about dog psychology and/or is trying to purposely mislead you because your vet is sponsored by a commercial pet food company... Domestic dogs have been around for several 1000`s years, and only the last CENTURY have we given them pre-processed Kibble bullshit... FACT

  • your puppy looks really happy in that video

now my puppy is 8 months old that weigh 36pounds and she was eating puppy dried food and some cooked rice and chicken her whole life!

i would like to put her on raw meat diet. but how should i make transition?

and is the parasites and bacteria on raw meat okay on doggy's stomach?

  • Check this group on facebook: My German Shepherd Eats Raw Food

  • alot of people say this can cause parasites in the dogs stomach and body, and isnt good for them. could you please tell me the steps of feeding raw? and can i just go to walmart and buy a pack of chiken drumsitck and feed it to my dogs? and how to i switch them to raw?

  • @milonosk76 Most vets would warn you against feeding raw, especially chicken! I personally haven't had a single problem. On the other hand, everyone sees my dog, notices how healthy she looks and how shiny her hair is. I don't give any supplements; I just make sure she gets some raw salmon every now and then.

I buy either frozen or fresh meet. Drum sticks are a good choice. Switch slowly by introducing one raw meal a day for a week, then two for another week, then raw only.

  • @rotkob my dad had a german shepard and he gave him raw chicken everyday and had a really good coat and was really healthy

  • How precious, they like toi eat on the ground since it is more like the way they eat in the wild. No one had to tell your little one how to do it.

In the summer if you serve it a little frozen will cool her off, it is also good when she teeths. I am strating my guy tomorrow, I have to travel far to get pure non hormonal chicken. Love this video thanks

  • My German Shepherd Dog, Trudy, only eats raw! I would never feed her the crap that is in kibble! Because she eats raw, she sheds very lightly and is very healthy. Thawed is better over frozen. "Normal dog food" is not healthy at all for dogs. You can feed raw to a puppy from the time they are weaned. Dogs are made to eat raw meat! Dogs are a subspecies of the wolf.

  • Did you only give her different kind of raw meat or did you alternate with "normal dog food" so to speak? I know this is better, but always best to ask.

  • @TheEvolvedMind I only alternated with dog food the first week. After that, just raw food twice a day, then once a day, as she wouldn't eat twice. Raw food takes longer to digest than manufactured food.

  • @rotkob Another question, if you don't mind. The drum stick looks frozen (could be the lighting) but is frozen preferable over thawed? I already know you should never COOK it (due to the bones etc), but frozen vs thawed is another matter. Thanks in advance. :)

  • @TheEvolvedMind, The drumstick was not frozen. I actually bought it fresh.

  • @rotkob Okay, thank you for your fast answer. And I hope to see more Flame videos. My puppy was born like 30 hours ago so they're both fun and educational to watch. :)

  • What did you feed your pup before the raw diet, and how can I tell when it its right to start feeding mine. My puppy Link is 2 months old and I am not sure whether or not to introduce him to a raw diet yet.

  • She ate can food for few days before I introduced her to raw chicken. You can start your puppy now. Introduce one kind of raw food every week. Stool might get soft in the beginning, but that's OK. The puppy will adjust. Drum sticks are perfect in the beginning because it has a good balance of meat and bones.

  • so how is the raw meat diet good for the dog?

  • She ate the whole thing, meat and bones.

  • Comment removed

  • Some people give vitamins and stuff, but most people who feed raw don't. Just make sure that the dog eats everything, such as meat, bones, internal organs, etc. Also vary the type of meat you give. This diet is based on how wolves eat in the wild. Wolves don't eat vegetables or grains.
