Moral philosophy after Conan is nothing but footnotes. Everything that is good in life can be broken down to how much lamentation from women it produces.
i remember i've heard a quote similiar to this before its a quote from Genghis Khan "The greatest happiness is to scatter your enemy, to drive him before you, to see his cities reduced to ashes, to see those who love him shrouded in tears, and to gather into your bosom his wives and daughters" BADASS
Oh, that, lol, well the first Scythian/Hunnic w/e dude say's the gay peacful answer, then Conan comes in it with his awsome accent and say's that, it's pretty funny!
Yeah because Conan was a warrior. LOL I wouldn´t say that the best things in life are to crush my enemies, see them driven before me and to hear the grief and sorrow(lamentation) or the women.
UGOTNUKED: A president being an actor is WAAAAY different than a Terminator series movie star being a governor. Come on now. Get real. But yes I guess in a democracy, almost anything is possible.

what?? rob zombie a remake of conan??? I know he's working on the sequel of halloween the beginning..Zombie could do a great remake of Freaks I think..
My name is Conan Angelo and I played 14 parts in the movie. I spent 5 months in production as a stuntman. On the very last day the cast and production people were having breakfast together and saying goodbye. We were in Almeria, Spain. Arnold looked up at me from his breakfast and in front of the cast said "What's good in life?" As my mind raced I said, "Women moaning in orgasm." He replied, "No no no! Cash in the hand and California real estate." This is a true story! ConanStories
You know, watching this again after so many years, it dawns on me how odd it is...
You have all these barbarians talking with an American accent (which of course I cant hear, since I grew up in America and it sounds normal to me)... then suddenly, a loud German accent from out of nowhere. Seems kind of weird.
Austrian, actually. And within the context of the movie, it's not strange...Conan was a foreigner to these barbarians; he would have been expected to sound strange.
If you want the 3rd Conan movie WITH Arnold, help the cause by signing the petition at thearnoldfans dot com. It's under the OAK MOVIES tab. CONAN FOREVER!!!!
i especially like the scene when lil conan is being tied to the mill(?) in the the middle of nowhere and grows old over the years, surviving as the only one of his clan
That's pretty tight dude, Conan rulz all who oppose him. I think there should be a religion that should worship Conan. It would be called Conism and it's worshippers would be Conites. It would be intense.
I just watched Conan to remember the old times and though this part deserves to be put on YouTube, for the young generations to behold true wisdom, but I see someone already have done that.
One of the many gems (memorable/iconic scenes) from this film that makes it a classic. If only they kept the same director for The Destroyer (though it does has its moments... just sometimes too goofy)
also, the lamentations of the women are merely the result of the first two things he says...if the women aren't crying, their men aren't dead, and he's not winning. it's simple kids.
You'd think that would've been obvious to pretty much everyone. You have to question the critical thinking abilities of someone who can't properly interpret something Conan says. Or Arnold, for that matter.
it's called context people. these guys are all warriors, living in a very hostile time. they aren't going to say that the best thing in life is flowers or love or whatever. do you see any women in this scene? do you see any kids? no. they're discussing winning battles.
For warriors all of that hallmark card bullshit about open steppes and wind in your hair is sidestepping the original purpose and desire that a warrior has: to destroy your opponents. Some hippy dippy loser will interpret this as evil thought. Those who understand will see that there is no malice whatsoever in what Conan said.
Possibly because the warrior must be find joy in what his purpose is and all consequences of his actions, including the sorrow he inflicts on the loved ones of his fallen foe.
there both wrong cause they are just describing feable human wants .. to be a bad ass warrior or to live in comfort and luxury..no what is best in life is being loved by ...
I don't associate the film with Schwarzenegger or his bulging figure, and I don't even identify very intimately with the character Conan (I always liked Subotai). I think the other warrior's response is closer to the truth: best in life is the open steppe, a fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, and the wind in your hair. The dialogue is a good test: do you agree with Conan or do you side with the other warrior? The answer will probably reveal something of the way you interpret the entire film.
"The greatest pleasure is to vanquish your enemies and chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth and see those dear to them bathed in tears, to ride their horses and clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters."
And he certainly did a lot of that last part. A new girl every night, pretty much. It's estimated that as many as 1 in 200 people can trace their origins back to Ghenghis khan.
Conan what is best in life? To crush the Conan remake, see it driven before you and hear the lamention of the producers
