@SirAvalord It's all about "priorities". Where I am from, the emphasis is upon "militarism"...and, the obscene, bankrupting expenditures inherent in such a negative, futile preoccupation. Germany focuses upon a solvent, viable future...and, the well-being of its citizens...
@timphiey Train is leaving Frankfurt on 9AM and arrives Paris on 1PM so the whole journey lasts 4 hours. Ticket cost from 39 EUR (when you book in advance). We don't have passport checks inside the EU (Schengen zone).
@timphiey It should be around 7 hours to get from frankfurt to paris. they don't stop for passport controls because in the zone of schengen the are no frontiers
because US Americans prefer planes and cars. The train system is financed by taxes partly. This would never be possible in the US because no one would see the need of a north american railroad system paid by taxes from all us americans. It's the same with social healthcare.
Dear DB please buy out Amtrak and get rid of our "Third World" trains and put both ICE-3's, 4's and T's in the US sincerely someone who is tired of amtrak and the political BS
the Cologne-Frankfurt track sometimes does over 330km/h in cases they are bit late... I do regularily take this track, and I have witnessed it. But the most impressive thing about this masterpiece of german ingeneering is:
Even you are running 330km/h, when you close your eyes, you'd think the train would stand still ! This is so amazing incredible... The nearest experience you could compare is flying...but its even better than flying.
Riding an ICE from Frankfurt to Augsburg noticed how fast the scenery was going by and looked the the speedometer, 150mph!! The best part smooth and comfortable.
Is this the killing machine that a conductor refused to stop when passengers saw the pieces of wheel sticking up into the cabin and let 100's of people to die?
I commend Siemens and Germans for canceling all the ICE until the thorough investigation was conducted and corrective action was implemented.

lol I'll be travelling with an ICE this summer. Can't wait for it.. Also nice to see the station in which I'll probably take the ICE (Amsterdam, the station at 02:30...
@eurodestination You can see two Dutch trains (ICM (02:32)and DD-AR(02:28) at the station. Both are Dutch trains. So I think it really has to be a Dutch station. Because the ICE doesn't pass too many Dutch stations, it has to be Utrecht Centraal, Arnhem or Amsterdam Centraal. I've never been at Arnhem, but I know the stations of Utrecht and Amsterdam quite well and I think this station really looks like Amsterdam Centraal..
@kevinmohlen13 I know... I travelled from Mannheim HBF to Utrecht yesterday. Because work on the railroad the train didn't start in Basel, but in Karslruhe. Because work on the station of Arnhem the train entered The Netherlands around Venlo. This is only temporary, of course. Because of those things, it took a little more time to get from Basel to Utrecht, but it was still a great experience to travel with the ICE 3. I'll post one or more vids of the track between Frankfürt and Cologne soon.
@edj66 Well, at least you don't live in the USA, that would be worse. ;o) all we have are auto centric focused suburbs, oh, and the Amtrak, yea right ;o) I also want to live in Germany, let's be roommies ;o)
I had the opportunity to travel on these trains....I went all around Germany and even to Switzerland....I'm planning a trip next year back to Germany to do it all over again-but this time with even more train rides to eastern Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands
@chron123 these chinese trains are based on the german technology, the new generation of trains could drive fast like that, too.
but it not really make sense to build faster trains in germany, cos there are not enough tracks for the speed and the distance of the big cities are not as far as in china ...
@euripvid Not just German, some Japanese tech too (some trains are Japan-based)
Since your comment, the Chinese government has decided to slow down the 350kph trains to 300kph, most likely due to safety concerns and cost.
The trains ran at 350kph because the ex-rail minister wanted to show off to the world, and now the man is removed from office and pending investigation of corruptions and so on.
As a Chinese myself, it does make me worry a bit.
I am so happy I am European. I love high speed trains and wonderful pictures seen through the windows while riding. I am proud European. May live Europe and it's cultural diversity. Let's enjoy it every day. :)

@eurodestination anytime... oh so there running the ICE there in 2013..thts Awsome!!....its going to look sweet running through the Chunnel...i hope one day i can ride a train through there
@Trainmaster189 I can only think of two reasons. One, since they were the "Bahn Frei!" ad trains, it could have been a publicity move. Two, they could have been two trains bound for two destinations, but had to travel on the same line at the same time before splitting off.
beautiful trains, so much better than the via trains we have over here. I can just imagine these in North America equipped with sleepers and dining cars, I feel like our county is stuck in time :(
I can see what you're saying, most of Britain is installed with Victorian Era tracks that are obviously not designed for high speed but as you probably know they do exist, with the via trains, I went to Montreal nearly 2 years ago and it was the most uncomfortable useless service I ever exprienced, we can't push the seats back enough to be actually comfortable there was no skycar or whatever you want to call it, we had the good stainless steel trains on the way back however which weren't as bad
I think that we in Europe should link all of the continent (and Britain and Ireland) together, get rid of the present EU and plutocracy, and become a European confederation. We should preserve our cultures and our identities but modernize our infrastructure and our political system. So we would need to go to a kind of social E-democracy.
Yeh they are good, but they don't actually go quite as fast as TGV's as some of the lines are old still. The new lines in Germany are 300kmh, however, which is great.
Ahhh the ice train. Another piece of Germany I really miss. Anywhere in Europe is at your finger tips with just a few hours to a day trip on these trains. Awesome.
