  • The accurate John Lennon quote says this: "Pete Best was a drummer; Ringo Starr is a Beatle." (Beatles Monthly Book #249, January 1997, page 5) -- Not "good" or "great" or "better" -- just "a drummer."

  • One of the best songs from the beatles!

  • How the F*** do you dislike the Beatles!

  • I first heard this song in a Looney Toons cartoon, and I am most pleased to discover it's by The Beatles.

  • @shubaccaderpgerp Nevermind.

  • Stu is soooo hot with Beatle-hair :)

  • Little did they know how HUGE they'd be back then. The just look so... simple... and oblivous here. Juts recoding for fun and trying to be discovered.

Heh. They were discovered all right!! (:

  • EXCELLENT !!!

  • I have to say.. stu was sexy.

    Kay done.

  • great pics of stu..............!

  • @TheLewi101 Me too. ^_^

  • One of my Favorite Beatles Tunes. Your vid is like a Tribute to a bygone era and is a Fitting Tribute to Stu and Astrid. I Hope he Rests In Peace.

  • 9 people ain't sweet

  • John started singing this with his guitar to Cynthia at the Art College. I really never knew how romantic he was, especially to Cynthia till I read her book.

  • @ringoratss yup..it's the song that John sings to Cynthia. He's so romantic (I know that from Cynthia's book too.) A Classic bad boy met a good girl story.

  • Poor Stu, he would have made a good Beatle... with a little more practice.

  • @Shancus32796 Maybe not, its believe that he could have been tone deaf.

  • @QVrat123 Lol! Well he was a good artist, apparently, so he was good at something. And at least he was kind enough to try being in a band for John right?

  • @Shancus32796 Actually John and Paul pestered Stu into joining the band. Stu was a talented artist and he got a scholarship from the art school that he and John attended. Paul and John managed somehow to convince Stu into buying a bass instead of more art supplies w/ the scholarship money because they desperately needed a bassist. He wasnt that good lol. He eventually left the band to focus on art and his girlfriend Astrid and thats how Paul became the Beatles' bassist.

  • @QVrat123 Well... I already know that, being a fan and all, but yeah... I respect Stu for sticking his neck out for as long as he could. Plus he looked really cute!

  • Is the beatles singing this one?

  • @SevenScreamingSnakes wow yesss!john lennon as mater of fact!

  • This song is perfection!

  • @Jsoldier22 Um, yeah, sorry, hate to have to break this to ya, but - that's impossible. :)

  • search Ain't She Sweet - Hayfever

thumbs up if you like this guy he even sounds better than the actual beatles!

  • Hey, um, you didn't know that legendary German bandleader Bert Kaempfert co-produce that Beatles' recording of that old classic song "Ain't She Sweet"? Yep, Mr. Kaempfert did it....and several photographers took a lot of photos of Bert (Kaempfert) and The Beatles.

  • the beatles look so bad boyish back then.

  • 0:38 through 0:49....HOT!!!!

  • 1:28 - iconic.

  • His voice is amazing. As are the pictures! :D

  • I just saw another video for this song w/Paul, George and Ringo singing. I have this on a 45 that my brothers gave me to play with when I was little. It's in my garage somewhere. If I remember correctly it said "The Beatles with __". Someone else was credited on there with them but I don't remember who.

  • Anthology......History......for ever....

  • i feel sorry for stu having to have his back to the camera :(

  • @Keskinarkaus He was a lousy drummer. The worst that The Beatles had.

  • @Keskinarkaus bernard purdie played drums on this song.

  • @reg5381 Yea, the original drumming was bad so Bernard Purdie overdubbed the drum track and this is the version you have here.

Pete Best's drumming was some what lacking, similar to an untrained baboon just whacking the drums haphazardly.

  • @26highstreet

It's quite hard to re-record anything with 2 tracks... Nice try though.

  • @26highstreet Cool....cuz i'm James Purdie!

  • @jamesbondaygee Any relation to Bernard... or do you just share the surname?

  • @26highstreet Not related that I know of but our family was quite musical too!

  • @dougalmac54 Ah another Pete Best fan i see.. no-one talks as much bullshit as Pete Best.... The drumming was overdubbed and Brian Purdy was used to do the overdubbing... it was not even done in germany..

How dare you make comments about Brian Purdy being a compulsive liar, just because you think Pete best was a decent drummer.. John Lennon said that Pete was a better baker than he was a drummer

  • @26highstreet Fool! I've never been a Pete Best fan. Quite the contrary, Ringo was vastly superior to Pete in every way, especially the way he fit into the band. As John said, Pete was an OK drummer. But Ringo was a better Beatle." I did some additional research and In 1964, when the Tony Sheridan tracks were re-released by Atco in America, Bernard Purdie PROBABLY cut additional drum tracks over-dubbed in America. But there is NO actual documentation of this. Pete's work was inferior. Bernard

  • Respond to this video... Purdie, not Brain. And Bernard Purdie is LYING when he said he replaced Ringo on ANY Beatles recording. FACT. Whether you like it or not.

  • @reg5381 Yea i thought it had to be someone other than Pete Best, as he seems to get far more credit than he deserves.

There are many people who seem to think he played on all the pre ringo tracks, so he ends up getting the credit for songs he never even played on

  • Great song!

  • i love the part in the book "john" by cynthia lennon where she writes about how john sang this to her after class while they were in art school. i would have died if i were her!

  • the Beat Brothers ^_^

  • STU AND HIS HOTT SUNGLASSES! &&& GEORGE LOOKING LIKE A GREASER <3333333333 :}

  • @Keskinarkaus He does deserve credit being a Beatle and is a good drummer, but Ringo is better.Withiut Ringo they wouldn't be really famous

  • @Keskinarkaus He does deserve credit being a Beatle and is a good drummer, but Ringo is better.Without Ringo they wouldn't be really famous

  • Paul was the sexiest HAHA

  • 0:41 aw, what a cutie. (:

  • The singer is Tony Sheridan.

  • @pyspigen2 nope, the singer is John Lennon.

  • @diegoloxa92

I have an old LP 'British Pop in Hamburg in the sixtees' where this excact version in creditet Tony Sheridan and the Beat Boys (early Beatles-alias) together with My Bonnie and Cry for a Shadow. Search on Ytube also says Tony Sheridan for this version. However I must admit it sounds like Johns voice. The label and credit on my label may be wrong? Hard to say?

  • @pyspigen2 I've been a Beatles's fan since I was 9, now I'm 18. I could say what is John and what is not, listening well to this song, after the doubt of John or Tony singing, I must say it's difficult to say who is it, it could be a young John or a look-like-John Tony's voice. Indeed the forum is open to receive reasonable opinions, in my opinion I continue on my position, the singer is a young John Lennon, but I won't be amazed if someone show us with facts that the singer is Tony Sheridan.

  • Are you kidding? That is most definitely the inimitable voice of John Lennon. Brilliant vocal...

  • @dagiff Its John Lennon... The Beatles Live at the BBC

  • @CoIeStones No its not, its off a Tony sheridan album, the beatles were his backing group on the record under the name the beat brothers and were allowed a few tracks for themselves including the instrumental Cry for a shadow... a lifelong Beatles fan.

  • @CoIeStones Sorry might not have been clear there ...it is John Lennon but its not from the Beatles at the bbc...at least not that version.

  • @TheMaccafan They played it with Tony Sheridan in Hamburg yes, but they also played the same version which is on Live at the BBC, and its on Tony Sheridan's album is well.

  • Who's the singer ?

  • @AisaawaaahGurrahFFS John Lennon

  • @AisaawaaahGurrahFFS The singer is John Lennon ! Can you believe that this record charted quite well in the States? In '64 it got to around #21.

  • @AisaawaaahGurrahFFS John Lennon. And the single did pretty well in the States, reaching around #21.

  • @TheOnlyDummkopf So true!!!! I love John!

  • gotta love the beatles.......... whoever doesnt isnt human

  • who ever doesnt like the beatles simply isnt human

  • Awe :) What babes! I'm so disappointed I wasn't born when they were making music. I'm only 14. So it kinda really sucks! But I'm so very happy for youtube, and people who have decent taste in music, and put's videos up. :)

  • oh my lord. GEORGE U R JUST A MAJOR HOTTIE.

    O yeah i wore a beatles shirt today! :)

  • @realnegativezero So did I XD

  • @javsja14 ~ I believe Pete was still drumming in 1961. If my poor memory serves correctly, Ringo joined the band in the next year.

  • @timotastic ~ Thanx!

  • @javsja14 Is Pete Best playing on this song? Yes and no. He's there in the mix somewhere, but another drummer (possibly Bernard Purdie) was used to "punch up" the drums when this song (and 3 others) was released in the US. Pete's drumming wasn't erased, they just added another drum track. Oddly, this enhanced version is the one the Beatles used on Anthology 1.

  • @dougalmac54 Yeah, Purdie has made ridiculous claims no one believes. And you're right that Purdie wasn't on the ORIGINAL version of the song. But during Beatlemania several labels released obscure Beatles tracks with Pete on drums. ATCO released this one, and the drums WERE overdubbed, probably by Purdie. This is the overdubbed version. His claims to have played on later Beatles tracks are nonsense. The greatest complement Ringo ever got was Purdie wanting credit for his work.

  • Great video!

  • was the least good looking beatle george looked pretty damn good with his hair pushed up

  • Thank God we have YouTube and People who know GOOD MUSIC and want to Preserve History for everyone else. Stu Sutcliffe and Pete best will always be part of the Legend and will always live in Our Hearts. The Hearts that haven't forgotten them that is.

Thanks for this video as the Song and the Memories NEED and DESERVE to be Preserved and Protected.

    "Ain't She Sweet?" YOU BETCHA!!!!!

  • Ain't they sweet??? OMG I love the BEATLES!!!!

  • @gfks11..✿✿.My dear Renata, thank you for this sweet dedication!

    Gorgeous music, really love it!..✿✿

  • Dedicated to the lovely Marcia....YOU are so sweet....no question....;:-))

    Renata

  • Estaa cancion no es de The Beatles! ):

  • John's awesome.

  • such posers! but you can't help but love them :)

  • i feel bad for Stu Sutcliffe cuz he died of brain paralysis shortly after being married. he gave the beatles the idea for the mop-top haircut.

  • I gotta say, Stu physically just didn't fit in. With him there, it's not the boys next door. Suddenly you've got a smoldering looking model stuck in the bunch.

  • @superman11978 Stu looked like a classic gay model and would never have fitted in a real group, also he couldnt play an instrument

  • What a voice his voice is like a majestic roar awesome talent !!!!!!

  • they're so adorable! bahh(= haha, ohh stu was...fineee*_*. haha but paul will always be my favourite no matter what(=

  • They were such greasers with the hair and everything.

  • Stuard was Beatles guitarist, a good friend of John from an artistic school, a good painter by the way, who had't flair for music at all, too bad actually. Stuard got brain haemorrage before presumably falling to the ground while running for his life with John. Stu passed away and his girlfirend was Astrid Kirchner, a beautiful girl and quite good photographer, of the Beatles as well. The rest is history. R.I.P Stuard and John.

  • @WitoldBanasik man Stuart was the Bassist not the Guitarist but the rest its true

  • classic. Whos Ton Sheridan????

  • i remember the vid where Paul, RIngo and George are sitting in a park singing this song! and John was not there (was dead at the time! RIP)

  • this ROCKS!

  • Great cover !

  • that´s true, the quality of the recording is amazing -- crystalclear, and a presence as if they played in your room -- all without DAWs, Solid State Logic spaceship consoles and towers of mastering equipment -- just undistorted, cheap guitars and a highly motivated band))) -- and german microphones not to forget

  • sounds as good today as it did then. fab

  • Perfect song for these photos

  • Paulie is so sexxy(: omg i love him(: he has a nice ass....!

  • @Pualwazhere hahaha dude you mean john is so sexy lol :)
