Jason has never fitted into the image's band, like rude and super-male which James has exploited for years. I think James thought that Jason attitude could threat this image of MetallicA and tried to endurance him. Bob instead doesn't care about belong to any pose or image, and the band know it and give him more permissions, Bob's attitude is more close to Cliff who had a 'hippie' look. Moreover, the guys are old and the things that before they were jealous, now they are more tolerant.
