i think its good that there trying to make soccer a major sport here in the us im a huge soccer fan i mostly watch europian soccer but bringing beckham might give some people a reason to watch MLS
And BTW, soccer in America and MLS don't need saving; their business model has allowed for several teams to turn a profit, more soccer-specific stadia to be built, and long-term tv broadcasting contracts for MLS games (ESPN, Fox Soccer Channel) and other important international matches, like Euro 2008 and the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.
Pele and NASL put soccer on the map, so to speak. Millions of kids play it now, and millions can follow EPL, MLS, World Cup, Copa America, Gold Cup, etc.
If MLS wants to do something about making soccer popular, they need to do more than signing Beckham. Bringing more of the inner city talent and small town America(like Iowa, Idaho, Montana, etc.) is one thing. Another is getting a more organized youth system. In soccer, you're at your prime when you're only 24, thus the college system will never work. Plus, they really need to sort out these salaries some of the average MLS players are making. $17,000 a year is crap.

nope. no official underwear ads yet lol, but plenty of "candid" moments captured by the papparazi, including that famous shot of becks wearing nothing but posh's lingerie and nail polish (his own i guess ;).

I watched this video, obviously, but there is a purpose behind it. He's coming to the States to increase the popularity of the sport here. Every major soccer player in the world has done the exact same thing he is doing right now. I've watched this video, and I've watched him play for years. You're simply ranting in jealousy, with no factual information. Look up his stats.

Well,there you go,a nice comfy way to end your career,theres only a dozen of top teams in usa anyway and not much to promote.Its been tried before in the 80's where there were at least 25 teams or so and that didnt work.There is just no fundamental football system or youth leagues or anything else than student soccer and then maybe some bar-afterwork-club kickarounds....Yanks are in to action-sports w. lots of points,dont enjoy a tactical game which could end 0:0.

At this stage of his carer he is barely on par with some of the top talent is the MLS, it's not like it's someone in their prime like L. Messi or C. Ronaldo are coming over. It's all about money so who ever is willing to pay the most for these players will get them whether it's the MLS, Primiership, La Liga or any other league so we may see more players doing this because Americans will over pay.

i said i know that soccer is the most popular sport in the wole world and i understand that heck i whatched the world cup and it wasnt half bad. my point again is not that soccer is bad in any way just that it wont be nearly as popular as football in America and there is no way u can disagree with that. also i dont know why u r being so rude and vulger to me. i really dont appreciate it. by the way i wanted argentina to go all the way last year.

And BTW, soccer in America and MLS don't need saving; their business model has allowed for several teams to turn a profit, more soccer-specific stadia to be built, and long-term tv broadcasting contracts for MLS games (ESPN, Fox Soccer Channel) and other important international matches, like Euro 2008 and the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.
Pele and NASL put soccer on the map, so to speak. Millions of kids play it now, and millions can follow EPL, MLS, World Cup, Copa America, Gold Cup, etc.

If MLS wants to do something about making soccer popular, they need to do more than signing Beckham. Bringing more of the inner city talent and small town America(like Iowa, Idaho, Montana, etc.) is one thing. Another is getting a more organized youth system. In soccer, you're at your prime when you're only 24, thus the college system will never work. Plus, they really need to sort out these salaries some of the average MLS players are making. $17,000 a year is crap.
