will battlefield 3 run on at least medium settings with no lag with these specs 2.9 processor ghz whatever 8 gb ram and nvdia gt 525 i got 8 gb ram by upgrading
@Bearballsruffian2 Yeah definately, I've only had 3 games so far that are unplayable in high, Crysis, BF3 and Metro 2033. I have a fair amount of games too! 2GB card should show a nice improvement on mine aswell man
Thanks for posting these videos. I have basically the same setup as you and was worried that skyrim would not run well, but your video was reassuring and I bought it, and it runs great :D
Now I might have to go and buy BF3 seeing as it runs decently :P
@houseofcards613 Before you buy (guessing you haven't yet) the campaign doesn't run quite as smooth as online (by that I mean it doesn't run so well haha) and at times the multiplayer can get quite demanding and push the laptop. If you're okay with playing in Low then yeah this will be great haha
I was impressed with the Skyrim performance too, it runs on my 1080p 32 in TV in medium, perfect really haha
@Stevenyc69 I'm not sure about PS3, but xbox 360 graphics are essentially < Low. I imagine PS3 is a little better, but the game on medium looks nice and sharp on this laptop
I have dell (laptop) with these specs :- intel core i7 2670QM (quad core 2.2Ghz) with turbo boost up to 3.1 Ghz ....8Gb ddr3 memory....gt 525m 1GB..???can i run it on ultra ????
i am buying this computer (xps 15z, don't know if there is a difference) and i'm buying it with 2 GB of the graphics card...will it run this game smoothly?
@PlaySolar the problem is online and in multiplayer mode even at low resolution, some times it tells me that i don't have enough memory... i'm confuse (*o*)
@0ChrisMackle0 When you play a game it usually heats up and goes audible for a bit. You never get a silent fan on a laptop though, especially one this powerful. Like the other guy said, for the most part its fine. It's my cooling pad that makes the damn noise! XD
@coop4000@PlaySolar does your xps 15 shit itself when you play a game? like does the fan go hardcore really loud and blow hot air like an air conditioner?
@coop4000 Yup. Guy's don't bother with this laptop. It overheats super fast and while doing the most minimal tasks. I've had this thing crash on me constantly when playing games like Counter Strike Source. It just freezes and then white screen even after getting a completely new model form dell the same thing happens. This thing is pretty much an expensive peace of crap. I got BF3 last week even with a high end lap top cooler it will freeze and crash on you. DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL!
@WookieShot Mine has never overheated or frozen, sounds look you and coop got defect models. It's not the best laptop in the world, but it's damn good for the price and I have not had a single problem with it thus far
@xxxxScrewUxxxx Yes i contacted dell, they are already replaced my mother board twice (Witch comes with all of the components integrator on it except the disk drive, hard drive and fan) First time the board was DOA, 2 weeks later they send another guy to replace it new board gives me blue screens (Yay :D time to go through dell support again). Wait another week finally get a new board, and then i got a hardware failure blue screen every time i try to connect to the internet. Consumer beware.
I found a huge bargain for this game, R$ 60 which is about 30 dollars, it comes with the SPECACT kit thing, is it worth it? I got an XPS 15 with the exact same specs as yours.
@defiantBlaze It pushes down to about 20fps on some parts of the campagin (I didn't know this at the time of making the video) but it's still platyable all the way through.
That is a pretty good deal, however, so I'd definately consider it. My one major gripe with this game is that you have to play it on Origin, which is the most annoying steam clone ever made. It's just so awful. XD
Nice vid mate. Go to my channel if you want to see some gameplay of recent games like Battlefield 3 or Saints Row 3 using GTX 560M (Asus ROG G53SX). Thank you guys :)
I'm thinking about buying the XPS 15 at Best Buy for 1200 dollars. It has a second generation I7 @2.8 ghz, 8 gigs of ddr3 ram and the 2 gig model of this GPU. I wonder how much of an improvement that would be against your results.
I'm thinking about replacing my desktop, it has a Q9600, 4 gigs of ddr2 ram and a gtx 280. I don't know how much of a performance change that is, if much at all, but it would be nice to have something very portable that I could also hook up to my monitor.
@callahan9119 The i7 processor and the GT 540m will make a bit of a difference, the RAM won't affect it as this game doesn't utilize more than 4gb ram.
Nah, I got the Asus G74SX, it's a beast. I get 40~50 frames on high in BF3 with 2xMSAA, I'm also getting 20 more fps on higher settings than I used on my desktop playing Skyrim.
Cost me 700 after trading in my desktop and a barely working laptop.
@callahan9119 u have an awesome desktop, compared to most ppl. I don't see how replacing it with a less capable laptop will be effective. I recommend u stick with what u have atm.
@tysbtw43876 "Targus Lap Chill Mat 17-inch" - search for it on amazon, it's £20. It does the trick, its a 17 inch but it fits the Dell XPS 15 perfectly.
I dont know, but if youplan to capture with fraps you should make sure you are recording to a drive that doesnt have the os or game you are using, to find the gemeral fps just search for "battlefield 3 gt 540m benchmark"
@benbelmour yes, and just so you know in the future, the nvidia naming scheme for graphics cards goes like this, the 5 means its 5th genereration, the 4 means its tier 4 (on a scale from 1-9) the 5 means its an improved or hiigher binned card than the ones with 0`s.
the ultra part isn't too bad look more like 20-23 fps for me. despite the gt 525m is a low power mid range card that isn't designed for heavy gaming, which is great if you get such performance.
@benbelmour I managed to record ultra in the beta with up to like 20 fps, and my laptop is basically the same as yours. I think recording in low SHOULDN'T be a problem, but I've heard that the campaign is alot more demanding than online
@benbelmour i dn't think it's overclocked, i have this card and get similar performance as shown in the video. although worth noting dat during campaign and certain maps the performance will be worsed, and usaully people say they are running on ultra is more of a customised ultra, so he might be running ultra without full msaa or aa which is set to high on default ultra setting with the full release version.
@LHITShappy No it was just ultra, I didn't change any settings. Trust me it was running badly in game it just looks a lot better in video. And nah it's not overclocked, but yeah like you said other parts of this game are a lot more demanding which is a bit annyoing
@PlaySolar yeah, the only settings i find which kill the fps most significant are the motion blur and msaa sampling. but im happy with the graphics of this game even on low. but still i don't think laptops has ever come any closer to compete with desktops in terms of price. ie:400-500 pounds range desktop base can probs allow you to play this game smooth on high/ultra on 1600xsth res. where as u r not going to run new games great unless u pay over 1000pounds for a gt560m laptop.
Hello, I'm buying this laptop from dell i think it's exactly the same as your XPS 15, Will i be able to play games like Battlefield 3, Dirt 3, Skyrim etc. On high quality please respond thanks.
@xiCenitiix Dirt 3 I'm unsure about, but Skyrim and Battlefield 3 will not be playable on high. Low is the way to go if you're picking this laptop up (most games will run in high, but those in particular are very demanding)
I just got an xps 15z that has all the same specs, yet I would never be able to play a game like this at these settings so smoothly... I don't know what's wrong with it. I just bought Skyrim and it's incredibly laggy, I currently run it at the lowest settings in a window and it still drops frames often. Do you know what might be wrong? Please help...
Okay, I just tested it again, and it seems it was just the level that meant I was always at 10-15 fps. Once I'd moved on, I get a similar fps to what you said. Occasionally I get small spikes down to 15 or so and it's in my opinion not a great experience, I'd really love to be able to run this at 1080p at a stable 30+ fps, not really bothered about graphics. I also have the GT540M rather than the 525M, but I guess this shows the little difference between them. Thanks for replying :)
@Kallzeh The 540m is slightly better isnt it? I dunno, I havent played the campaign yet, but I'm sure it's more demanding than the online :/ and no problem, hope you enjoy the game otherwise :)
@xxKxNxIxGxHxTxx I'm not sure - It would definately make a difference, I'm just not sure how big that difference would be XD The 2gb graphics card does run stuff alot better I've heard to it may be worth upgrading that if you want this game.
@PlaySolar Yep, that is one of the 'few' I have mentioned, others I don't remember (the list is very small though, this laptop handles everything in a subtle way)...
:-P
It gives about 30 FPS on low settings, but it is good enough for me as the game is good-looking on even those settings. At times the frame rate drops to less than 25, but that is a rarity...

@2ndarc It gets warm after a while from everyday use, but when you put on a demanding game the ventilation can get really quite hot, I'd probably recommend a cooler
@rockoo124 It's playable alright, but I wouldn't say it's the smoothest running game on this laptop. It get's SLIGHTLY hitchy at demanding times, but generally runs fine.

@PlaySolar so would you say that at all lowest it is definitely playable or just satisfactory?
rockoo124 4 months ago
@rockoo124 It's playable alright, but I wouldn't say it's the smoothest running game on this laptop. It get's SLIGHTLY hitchy at demanding times, but generally runs fine.
