  • gosh, spencer has really come a long way since this. this band is unstoppable.

  • djent is actually neither a type of tone or off-rhythm...it refers to a certain picking style, where the treble of the top 8 string is brought out by a certain type of muting....

  • This just Djented my earhole... and I dont feel violated.

  • Hello... Djentlmen! xD

  • All these djent puns are pathetic, you all think you're real djenius don't you.

  • Spencer makes the band what they are, every aspect is amazing and unique, without him they just wouldn't be the same

  • am i the only one who loves their singer

  • This band would be so much better if they DJUST replaced the singer!

  • @taproot007 Rubbish, the singer is brilliant. And I'm not even a fan.

  • @taproot007 or fuck you.

  • his vocals r pissing me off .....periphery shud stick with either casey or jake preferbly casey

  • really though, I think Periphery has good riffs and moments, but their total song structure is pointless, not interesting enough all the way through. Very few songs have good playability.

  • @mentalparasite666 it's about the big picture and what the sounds make you feel.

  • Vocalist kills the song. You can't mix heavy crushing guitar tone with a bitchy voice like his. Direct me to the instrumental version.

  • @ShadrockMusic watch?v=L8N96cZiUSA

  • djent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djentdjent djent djent djent djent

  • @Bikerboi13 i will.. and i will get back to u

  • @Bikerboi13 siiiiiiick haha

  • This one time I made a Djent pun....:O

  • Yes, yes i do have Djent.

  • Djent at its best

  • Thank you kids for giving us something to really want to listen to. You've helped restore hope that there is still ultra creativity, and musical talent alive today...

  • the singer is only gettin' better

  • Like the vacuum ?

  • I take AP metal math

  • Lawl . All you haterrss callin' them a d-jent band . You guys are fuckin' retarded . :)

  • @Tehbrutez808 "haterrss callin' them a d-jent band ." ....want to rethink and/or rephrase that statement? Then make a completely different one.

  • @Tehbrutez808 I like this band and they are a djent band...how is that hating?

  • Ladies and Djents...

  • Need more simple bands like FellSilent.

  • InteliDjent

  • Djesus Christ. This is some djenty shit.

  • fuck bitches get Periphery

  • Comment removed

  • @TheMalthe95 hey fucking retard, negative publicity IS still publicity.

  • djizz teh pants

  • awsome band!

  • 0:35 is amazing

  • The new version Periphery recorded puts this one to shame. Sooo much better.

  • i djust love how his voice goes up like an andjel and down like a wounded ox

  • yeah i like it, except the vocals and guitar soloing

  • i allmost broke my computer with my forehead just now...

  • You cannot kill the djent.

    The djent will live on.

  • My neck is sore from headbanging to this live in Grand Rapids last night. Got Misha to sign my new hoodie with a bleach pen. Also got AJ Minette from Human Abstract to sign the back of my wife's picture, because he's just that awesome.

  • @FlockOfChickens ur so lucky they played this live for u

  • @binty47 Tell me about it. The pit fucking exploded, it was amazing.

  • Celestial-Core

  • djent will fall out and something will replace it that scenester/hipsters can spam the fuck out of. Periphery is great though.

  • @MrAndairus let's hope that hipsters won't have the talent to produce good djent then ..

  • @iwsr21 if you ask me i dig this one better. the new one sounds a wee bit over processed to me. this just sounds fantastic :D

  • We've reached a new age of human history.. the age of Djent will be an amazing turn in human consciousness :))

  • @LanceSaunders someone listened to this song high, lol

  • @TallestFiddle Sir, the world is changing. There are revolutions in many countries, and we are here to witness an amazing turning point in human history! There will be reforms; socially, mentally, and spiritually. I feel like the age of Djent describes an incredible portion of human history. And yes, I'm very high, ON LIFE :DDDDD

  • 14 people can suck my dick.....to blunt?

  • Djent is simply that deep, hairy tone that triggers you to automatically headbang without your consent

  • @dvsdez or conflict grievous bodily harm

  • @dvsdez properly explained

  • esa we esta bien perrisima !!

  • djizzing all over...

  • periphery has done a good djob changing the music world...

  • Im definitely djel'n

  • You guys are pretty good with the 'Djent' puns! :D I like Djentleman!

  • I like this version better. I know Spencer has improved vocal ranges in the EP version but in this one he captures a sort of eerie feel to it. Especially around 0:50 and 3:03

  • U DJELLY?!

  • @MutilatedEnigma brother?

  • I really like this version a lot more than the EP version, if only because the ending doesn't have 'Snookie want smush smush'. But also because the ending to this version is perfect the way it is, how it fades out with the growl atmospherically.

  • such appropriate pictures for this song.. This IS space-metal!!!

  • why is trent reznor one of the tags for this song?

  • i love the part when it goes DJENT

  • Djentleman!

  • DJENITALIA!

  • DJENT

  • I just looked further down on comments... my question is answered about Djent :)

  • what is Djent refering too? been hearing it quite alot lately... is it just a style of this metal? i.e. Meshuggah and many other bands alike?

  • @ned2one I think it is refering to the sound of guitars, pretty metallish..

  • @ned2one prominantly its math metal(poly meters/rhythms) with a vaugly more melodic side

  • @ned2one It's really just the guitar tone specifically. The sound of the really low string that's picked in a way where it's like playing slap bass. It just has this real heavy slap sound. I guess it eventually developed into a style among the more technical bands who incorporate it into complex rhythms.

  • Their vocals blow fat, fat cock! Go back to instrumental fags and you will be a whole lot better.

  • @spettit2011 what's wrong with the vocals? i think they sound fine.

  • djent djent djent djent lololololol trendy word being passed around by un-educated musicians / music "lovers".

  • @sonknuck23 there is a whole wiki made by some idiot who thinks he knows music on Djent, Not a genre, A way to play guitar. Whole wiki on this is wrong

  • @sonknuck23 Yeah, you're right. Its the picking style, not a genre. Metal develops and expands, if anything this is more like a new style of playing, not a genre. But regardless its awesome =)

  • You all know Djent is a guitar picking style used by Meshuggah and other bands right? People are starting to call it a genre but its just a picking style on the guitar.

  • @IpodsNightmare THANK YOU.

  • @sonknuck23 no problem. glad there is at least one other person who knows music XD

  • @IpodsNightmare I play guitar, and out of curiosity for the style, what differentiates Djent style to other ways of playing guitar?

  • @TheWilds23 its a picking style. Djent, Alternate, Tremolo. Palm muting a double Octave from what ive read. I've never really played it before but i've been researching this. The name Djent seems to come via the sound it makes. Its very rapid alternate picking but isn't continuous. Listen to the song Bleed by Meshugah. For reference this band is said to have created the "genre" Djent but like i said its a picking style. they just made it popular. in the end they are playing metal

  • @IpodsNightmare Oh yeah, I've listened to Bleed by Meshuggah. It's one of my favorite songs by them. I had a pretty strong phase with that band in fact. I am curious about this style though. I'm gonna do some research now too.

  • @TheWilds23 it is a awesome beat they have. I've been practicing Djent picking and it takes a very quick hand and timing. its something you won't learn to do over night. Or at least not in my case XD

  • @IpodsNightmare Meshuggah used it as a reference to the picking style and guitar tone, but it has since morphed into a genre descriptor, used to describe bands like periphery.

  • @IpodsNightmare I agree, its a picking style, but with that style it creates a whole new sound, which in return pretty much creates a genre. You dont see Nu-Metal guitarists or Deathmetal or Deathcore or any other genre doing this, only these Extrordinary Djentlemen ;D I have yet to learn it, but its my new goal.

  • not hating at all but the ep version is alot better he did get pretty good with is vox

  • Eureka is one my favorite words....yes you have to know that.

  • @DuSeanful haha so random.. :D

  • I have to admit I like this version of Eureka! way more than the one on the ep.....the vocals are so much heavier sounding, but I did like the "smush, smush" out tro....fucking awesome.

  • I don't understand the comments on Periphery videos about the vocals being lame. IMO Spencer Sotelo has one of the most amazing voices in metal.

  • I predict people bitching about djent in a few years. You know it's true, that's how trends in metal work.

  • Djentlemen...

  • i like the EP version better. the 0:35 mark in the EP Spencer hits a higher pitch which sounds nicer in my opinion.

  • @xThunderThumbsx

yeah, your right, i probably went to far there calling them emo.

they got a lot of talent, i admit. just need a new singer, or no singer

  • @aethelwulf19 theres an instrumental version of the album lol

  • @DuSeanful smooooooooooooosh smooooooooooooosh

  • This is THE COOLEST song to listen to when stoned

  • This is like smoking after sex, not that I've ever smoked, or had sex. O_o

  • I am so proud of meshuggah to give us the djent, it's gonna develop and come something that you cant describe. Metal developes, and im so thrilled to see what is coiming.. DJERECTION

  • @ph11n1x

So far it's gone no where. There are tons of djent bands out there and they all sound like complete shit. I've found two that have actually made progress and are writing some good stuff. Periphery and Animals as Leaders.

  • @Selkies0bsession Give Sectioned or Uneven Structure a try.

  • @smokejc

My opinions with music deal with the sound as a whole. If everything doesn't sound good, then I won't like them. There are some exceptions - it just depends on what I'm feeling at the time - but mainly if the vocals suck I won't listen to them.

I couldn't find Sectioned anywhere. It may have been I'm too lazy or I'm looking in the wrong spot, but Uneven Structure's vocals were horrible - in my opinion.

  • @Selkies0bsession Their username on YouTube is PedSectioned. Listen to Failure Drill. It's insane.

And I really like Uneven Structure. Granted, the vocals could be better, but the atmospheres they create are terrific. It's not just plain djent, like so many bands go for.

  • @smokejc

I shall look into it some more.

Like I said, if the vocals do not please me I won't listen to it and they didn't. As for the music, you're right. It's very atmospheric and not JUST djent. That's why I like Animals as Leaders so much. They don't have a vocalist to pull them down and they don't just do djent. Periphery is different. They're pure djent, but they do it well. As for the vocals; I hate them as well, but when I found them they had no vocalist. So I have their instrumental.

  • @Selkies0bsession I would also recommend Four Question Marks. Get your hands on their CD Aleph. In-your-face djent, but the riffage is crazy, and the vocals are pretty good. They've broken up, though.

  • @smokejc

You can recommend all you want, but I'm still picky as hell with djent - or even metal in general. Metal is my favorite genre, but I still hate 95% of the metal bands out there because they sound atrocious.

  • @Selkies0bsession I'm aware. It's just that I was listening to music earlier and realized I had forgotten about those guys. Merely a suggestion.

  • @Selkies0bsession i got to agree with this one, i've searched thousands of bands and these two are which really make edge to this genre. I love how complex their music is, and I can't even imagine what is coming up..

  • @ph11n1x

I dont think meshuggah would know what the hell djent is

everything being called djent is a far cry from what meshuggah was doing anyways. they were innovators traversing new waters. listen to "I", and compare it to this, these guys are just a hottopic emo band!

  • @ph11n1x lol, DJ erection

  • @MrSheamous ahahaah

  • @MrSheamous no . . . djust no.

  • @ph11n1x meshuggah isnt the founder of djent

  • @Provis55 well then who is? I heard Fredrik Thordendal was the one to name it Djent.. enlighten me!

  • @ph11n1x There IS a bright future for metal, isn't there?

  • @ph11n1x same here! :D

  • @ph11n1x what the fuck is "the djent"?

  • @xlhotlx its the djent dude

  • @ph11n1x No i will always describe it as djent go die

  • Hey guys, I made a forum for people who enjoy and would like to discuss djent. Here you can talk about your favorite bands, put up your covers and original work, talk about gear, share videos and news, basically anything djent related! The link is on my channel page if you want. Feel free to check it out, I think this could get big but I just need a few people to help me start it up! Thanks, and have a great day!

  • @dj3ntz You made a forum like Got-Djent but without the people?

  • Pe-Riffery

  • DJEEEEEEEEEEEENT

  • this sounds different from the one that's on the EP... vocals seem deeper. and there's none of that snooki want smush smush crap at the end...

  • fuck..i can't stop listening this stuff !

    i think now i have a new toy..perifungkingphery

  • Both singers are great. Just like both drummers are. Rauck aun dudes! \,,/,

  • This band is as awesome as the pictures from this video :D

  • Great Fukin Music.!! lov yuu Ryan.!!!

  • Damn trendy vocals Instrumental version please?

  • This band is awesome & but the singer SUCKS this band deserves a real musician as a singer not another angry chimp.

  • @stdoomsayer listen to the new version of Jetpacks Was Yes! by the same band...lets see if it changes your mind

  • @DarthRoy1292 It changed my mind.

  • the ending is different from version i have. it ends with some weird gibberish.. i feel like it ruins the song. this ending is better...

  • periphery is real music played by real talented musicians. its rare we see musicians of this caliber anymore. its sad

  • @CyanideV108 Check out Meshuggah if you haven't. They are the reason that these musicians exsist

  • what the fuck happened 40 seconds in?? i was almost liking this shit.

  • @ozark5150 i kinda do like it lol.

  • This screams Meshuggah, holy shit. It's so tense the whole time too, like your about to fall off of a fucking cliff or something

  • The vocals are awesome, nothing wrong with them at all.

  • Where did you get the pictures from 0:15 to 0:42? They are rad as hell

  • Meshuggah + Cliche vocals = Periphery.

I neither like or dislike them... Exactly the same way I feel about Justin Timberlake.

  • @pedroazevedo

Do you like their instrumental stuff? Personally I prefer it.

  • @pedroazevedo1 Cliche vocals? Not at all, stop sounding like a tool ):

  • The beginning of this song might be the sickest thing i've ever heard.

  • Just to let everyone know, I was the 8th person to dislike this....

  • @thomasfonville queer

  • @thomasfonville This tickles me. :)

  • @thomasfonville cool story, bro.

  • @thomasfonville and i was the 9th..

  • Everyone complains about the vocals, I love him. He adds to how inovative they are.

  • i dont care if the singer goes high, i just HATE that he sounds like a pussy. this band is way too good to have such shitty vocals

  • @ShwatChyuSay A-fucking-greed. He has no real power, just tries really hard to sound like he has.

  • i don't think this is the same version off the ep. where'd you get this?

  • @rickcristo wait nevermind, but i do think the ep version if different.

  • @rickcristo it was released online a little bit after the album, and yes it's a different version than the ep

  • This is a bulb tune!

  • the singing ruins everything for me. i hate when singers have to add in there crappy two cents to an already perfect song.

  • some of the best singing vocals since mike patton.....love the new tune.

  • If you want to hear more brutal groove/tech death, go check out Ænimus. Type it into youtube - Ænimus - 'The Awakening' Such a sick song.

  • When the intro first came in, i had a flashback to when i first listened to Stengah.

  • Anyone has lyrics for this song plz?
