There are three opinions about the origin of Japanese YAKINIKU.

1. The origin as the Japanese food.

2. The origin as the Korean food.

3. The origin as the Korean food living in Japan.

There is the dispute, but it is sure that all opinions are affected by the Korean food through Korean living in Japan.

Japanese YAKINIKU and Korean BULGOGI were different food.

I do not know the origin of YAKINIKU. However, Koreans living in Japan certainly devised the style of Japanese YAKINIKU and YAKINIKU after the end of the war. And Korea copied a style of YAKINIKU which Koreans living in Japan devised.

It is Koreans living in Japan to have devised the style of the current Korean barbecue (Korean Bulgogi).

@Sasilmin japanese and korean is very close culture..it only makes sense that the same dish could possibly have the same name..or the japanese lady probably went to a japanese bbq that happens to sell a korean dish. never know.
