see i learned bout ol marty from my grandad me and my grandad listen to marty all the time and i love it even though im 16 and most ppl my age dont like country music
im not gonna lie, although my parents (like their parents before them) liked Mr Robbins, I hadn't heard this song until Fallout. But everytime it came onto the pip-boy radio, it made me want to play Red Dead Redemption....
First time i hear this song was before Fallout came out. I was a turret gunner on convoy in Afghanistan. and somebody was playing it over the convoy radio. haha. it was bad ass.
It's a shame that great musicians like Frank Sinatra and Marty Robbins are only getting discovered because of a video game, but as long as this kind of music lives on I don't care how! Great song, one of my favorites.
Agua Fria on river of the same name is where Dewey Arizona is located. This happened when the post office closed in 1895 then reopened in 1898 as Dewey. This song has to be in the time period of the Arizona Rangers from 1901-1909 when they were disbanded. They created to clean up the territory for statehood. Many early rangers were former Rough Riders.
I am a metal head, but I like Marty Robbins sound.....Pure talent from the past...Most singers now days need computers and electronic junk to sound good...Singers of the past had pure talent....
this is a true story the ranger was either jd blackwater out brewster county, texas or bj mcadams out of young county, texas, many of the tx boys where sometimes n a gray area on who was the law and who was the outlaw, arizonia territory was as tough as west texas, thats why so many texas shootist showed up there to ply their trade or hid out
My favorite Marty Robbins song :) At first I got kinda annoyed at all the "Fallout" comments but then I realized hey, at least video games are teaching young people about awesome music that they otherwise would have never listened to or liked.
@Kai2oo6 It means that he might have lived a while longer if he'd have fled or surrendered, rather than egotistically trying to best the ranger.Made a slip equals=royally fucked up
@Kai2oo6 It means that the particular outlaw in question may have gone on carrying his life cycle, had he not attempted to engage in combat with the member of the arizona rangers who carried a large rotary cylinder firearm on his right hip
@Kai2oo6 Texas Red: "Texas Red had not cleared leather 'fore a bullet fairly ripped (the Arizona Ranger fired a fair shot (a shot after the call to draw arms was made) before Texas Red had even drawn his sixgun completely from his holster.
I was listen to this song a little before my son walks in (9 yrs old) and starts singing. Getting excited (i went to sleep to this song at his age) I asked "you know this song?!" To which he immediately replies "yeah, it's on Fallout NV". Appreciate ya preparing me for that one...lol
Man had a voice like a smooth creamy milkshake. Thank you for posting it! Oh, also. THANK you for the assembly of these great photographs. Much appreciated.
Anybody else notice that when he sings "1 and 19 more" its at 1:19 ?

Ok heres the difference between today and then:
Today: Singers can use computers to auto adjust their voices
Then: You needed the talent
Anyone agrees?
