Agua Fria on river of the same name is where Dewey Arizona is located. This happened when the post office closed in 1895 then reopened in 1898 as Dewey. This song has to be in the time period of the Arizona Rangers from 1901-1909 when they were disbanded. They created to clean up the territory for statehood. Many early rangers were former Rough Riders.

this is a true story the ranger was either jd blackwater out brewster county,texas or bj mcadams out of young county,texas,many of the tx boys where sometimes n a gray area on who was the law and who was the outlaw,arizonia territory was as tough as west texas,thats why so many texas shootist showed up there to ply their trade or hid out
