I can appreciate both. They are both really good. Anita is the original mastermind behind the song and people have connected with her through this song for years.. so she has that benefit for sure. There is no comparison. NO BODY can touch Anita when she sings just about anything including this song. I know there are some die hard Beyonce fans but I hate to break it to you guys, she doesn't have that R & B soul like the singers in the 80's and 90's have. beyonce is NOT touching Anita...she is not on her level...Beyonce was trying too hard to sound good, and evoke real organic emotions...Anita naturally evokes real soul, real passion, and you actually believe what she sings...beyonce just sings it so she can sound good...Anita's GOT this hands down.

I love Anita Baker & obviously no one will ever be able to sing Sweet Love like her, but I don't see anything wrong with Beyonce singing a song she enjoys and exposing her fans to a fantastic type of music they've maybe never heard before...I don't think any musician should be restricted to any one "lane" especially when they have as good an instrument as beyonce.

Her AND her vibrato can sound wobbly and whiny,but her control is impeccable,and her ranges are very well connected, which allows her to create a very SMOOTH sound. Beyonce's voice isn't about power as much as it is with Clearness, connection/transitions, Fluid-like, smooth and a clean sound. SO SIT, and go back to yo Nicki Minaj Records bitch.

@GabbyYouDidnt I agree, she does have a gorgeous vibrato, and I think Beyonce is amazing (as she's one of my favourite singers), but there have been times (specifically in Destiny's Child) where her vibrato was a bit whiny, but now, it's absolutely impeccable, along with everything else in her voice, but in my opinion, power is not Beyonce's biggest forte, haha.

Beyonce wins? Are you kidding me!? Good looks and a decent voice with too many runs does not make a fatality. These new "artists" do lots of runs because they can't sing in tune for longer than a few seconds. They all need to sit down & learn what it means to be a real soulful, r&b singer. It's not about the runs, using Autotune, and showing as much skin as possible without getting arrested. A real artist can sing one note, hold it in tune, and grab your soul with it. Beyonce CAN'T! The major difference is (as I see it) Anita is submerged in the song (soul) and Beyonce is presenting the song like an athlete(pop). Anita feels whereas Beyonce shows.

Anita Baker has her as far as nostalgia is concerned, but B sounds good singing this song. I'm used to Anita Baker's alto on the track, but Beyonce's soprano sounds nice on it, too. Not sure why Shoa Khan was telling her to finish him, but am sure that he (whoever he is) loved the ending of this video, too:)

I was never a Beyonce Stan she's ok for the music she makes. Even though she did a good job with this it comes up short. If her personality weren't so perfect and robotic I think people would connect with her more.
