  • amazing

  • very nice ;)

  • why do we base robots on some sort of a life form?

why cant we make something completely new and much better than ourselves?

  • this would make a cool surveillance bot and or a Mars rover, can you do some videos of real terrain adaptation like over sand, rocks, mud?

  • whats the music?

  • ahh hes so cute..

  • @arktikgraywolf HE? X)

  • Sneaky :^)

  • youtube worthy

  • Wow this video es lo maximo incredible robot that magnificent

  • what kind of software are u using?

  • Skynet

    x)

  • u mean the one from terminator

  • XD HELL YEAH! lol

  • cool! Which of programming language did you use?

  • Skynet will kill you

  • Dude that thing looks just like a spider when its regaining balance. Nice work!

  • Only with 6 legs of course.

  • this is sick

  • combien sa coûte?

  • i cant wait to see one of those turn into the scarab for the halo movie, u should build a frame that looks like the halo 2 scarab n put little action figures on it, that would sell for like 50k on ebay, the whole reaction to being unbalanced is incredible, definitly the best ive seen, 5 star

  • thats cool as , hey , well done!

  • Very great works ! like it is alive.

  • Brilliant. Very very clever.

  • That's really clever how you designed it to regain it's balance after one of it's legs have been lifted by something other then itself. Nice! *claps*

  • ..WHAT IS THAT SOUNDTRACK ?

  • Can't remember the name of the track, bu the band is Royksopp and the album was Melody A.M.

  • Royksopp rocks...and your mecha rocks even more! You've got it's intuitive sense of resistance down VERY well! :-D

  • @winchymatt

Matt, this is just too much amazing!!

I wonder what kind of force sensor you use. Is it flexiforce resistor?

And about the compliance control, does it use PID also?

I can't wait for your response.

    Thanks

  • awesome, now the remote just has to be wireless

  • Hi, The last part of the video form 2:10 onwards the link is wireless. Cheers.

  • When can we buy these? XD *wants one sooo bad*

  • I love your robots. I do sculpture and creature creation and would love to see this brought into play with some of the creatures I make. This type of robot can be scaled up and used in all sorts of situations. Amazing work! :)

  • Hi, Thanks for the comment! This hexapod has been used in a film, although the scuplted body was pretty poor in my opinion. There was a beautiful sculpt started for a later film, but the plug was pulled and so it was never finished. Check my website for more details.

  • very cool, but uber scary looking. if it had some glowing red eyes it would be more sinister than the devil himself! lol

  • How long have you been working on this to get this level ?, it´s great ! How many guys have developed it and what subjects are they specialist ?.. Regards

  • Hi. This was the fourth hexapod I built, over a period of about 2 years. I studied electronic & software engineering. visit my web site for more details.

  • i'm very impressed by your robot! how much would it cost to do it? why is there lag? can't you put a microprocessor faster and closer from the robot? does it use "multiplexage" between robot and BRAIN?

  • Hi, The material cost of this robot was around £2000. But the developmetn time was around 2 months, so cost would be much higher. Yes lag for the sensors can be reduced by having an on-board processor, however, at the time this was not an option. I am currently working on an on-board pBrain that should run at 100hz refresh.

  • Moving like a real spidr, nice prototic.

  • very cool one :D

  • beautiful! what limits the rate at which it can move ... what would happen if you reduced the delays in the contol software to lower and lower values...

  • The speed is limited by:

    a) The speed at which the servos can move (which are not stretched at this point)

    b) More crucialy, on this version the brain is off board, so there is a lag in the information from the contact sensors getting to the brain. I am currently working on a version that will have the brain on board that runs at double the refresh rate. :)

    cheers

  • cool, i didn't think latency would be a factor, was wondering what sort of response time is required: that is from the time: a change in foot sensor reading -> moving of the actuators...
