  • ima fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiring ma rockets.......BOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!

  • Quite a combination of stuff there. I could hear PAO audio from both STS-121 and 118 (Barbara Morgan's name was mentioned). It is a good combination of stuff. It sounded pretty good on the head phones (I don't need to crank the speakers as I was there for three of these). Good work.

  • i was so mesmerized . i kept on watching this video several times.

  • If this does not get your heart pumping you are not alive!!!

  • Best Ever!!!

  • Are those car alarms in the background? Lmao

  • @hellnawnaw Yep. That happened on all launches after car alarms were widely used.

  • When the solid fuel rocket busters separated from the main fuel tank... was the shuttle actually in sapce? I wanna know!

  • @Atlacatonatl Great Question! The true definition of 'space' varies depending on who you ask but in general it could be defined by the atmosphere's significant friction effect on a man made vehicle's re-entry process (around 76 miles above Earth's surface). This is a loose definition with a lot of co-efficient factors not addressed but in short the SRBs are jettisoned around 27.6 miles above the Earth so the answer would be 'no' - they are not in space upon separation.

  • Awesome!

  • Better than Dubstep!

  • EPIC :DD

  • The one time I had a chance to see it in person they scrubbed at T-minus 3:00...

  • woooow !!! love the angle up from the launch pad! this might just be the best shuttle vid ive ever seen.

cant believe she doesnt fly anymore :-(

  • 30 sec he says "big penis"

  • BITCHIN!!!!!! :) :)

  • I felt it.

  • fuckin fuckin FUUUUCKIIIIIIN awesome buddy!!!

    eargasm I would say ;-)

  • Too bad the two tragedies doomed the program. The booster seal and foam issues didn't help. The concept of a reusable rocket also turned out to cost more than a traditional multi-stage rocket. The Shuttle was a miracle of technology though. But now NASA is going back to the standard 60's style rocket with the Orion.

  • @jeffhanson1 i agree, but what will it take to get us on track again...we were aiming for the stars, now it seems were taking backward steps. Its frustrating..you mean its all about money? *sighs* i suppose i just answered my own question huh?

  • I was lucky to see the last shuttle launch in person, and this is exactly what it was like!

  • i watched every launch! i was excited like a little child on christmas! Very sad that the shuttle has come to an end. Best Shuttle Lauch video ever! Great!

  • this is what youtube was meant to do. absolutely great video.

  • @cablemirc Bravo!

  • OK, it's good (if you missed a real one) but in addition to a monster sub woofer, have someone do a drum roll lightly on your chest and you get the sensation we had at the press site on the shore of the barge basin, a little over 3 miles from the pad. Max pressure at about T+20 seconds.

Now sadly this is just yesterday's history... thank you Congress and President Obama! Anyone have a flight scedule to Khazakstan?

  • in the favorites too :) good stuff

  • Best video i ever have seen

    XD

  • WOW! This vid makes the sound difference to throttle up so clear and obvious! And the booster seperation wow! AWESOME vid!

  • Sad to think its doubtful we will see another American manned mission in the next 10 years...

  • Best thing ever! Thanks for uploading this!!!!!!!!

  • F.....ing Awesome!

  • Makes me proud to be an American!

  • Makes me proud to be a human being.

  • Beautiful boilers de leña!!!!!!!

  • amazing america....only america does this...their every mission..for the world.

  • Damn! That is, without doubt, the BEST shuttle launch video EVER!!

    Thanks so much for that!

  • @joiadbvjaw9384 Let me say it better this time... You made my day!

  • Best launch video I have seen for SS...thanks!!

  • ohhh myyy gawwwwwwd.......that was amazing!!!

......now I have to clean the semen off of my screen.

  • I've just made my ears bleed but it was well worth it! :D

  • I like when the space shuttle goes super sonic

  • The moments just after 1:25 are more impressive than every sports highlight or blockbuster movie I've ever seen combined. Go Science!!

  • Wow man that was incredible!!!!! That's like an I-Max experience!!!!! I commend you!!! I'm saving this to my favorites, do a few more I'd love to hear them!!!!

  • @cornucopia4444 Thanks! I plan on doing some more vids soon. I'll eventually do an Apollo tribute but my next will probably be on American air power.

  • @indiegun Can't Wait for it :D

  • Wow!

  • Simply sensational.

  • I think I just broke the speakers on my macbook... :'( no wait... :)

  • The sound of raw power

  • Oh, my. Goosebumpification succeeded!

  • AWESOME

  • Thank you german scientist.

  • So proud of humanity right now, this is proof we did not evolve !

  • @footstepsofLiFE uhhhhhh, alrighty then....

  • @footstepsofLiFE wait what?

  • gr8t! on my sound system: 2-6 foot tall Magnaplanar speakers driven by a 400 W amp & 2-bass reflex speakers with 14" woofers, 8" midrange, & 2 kinds of tweeters driven by a 200 W amp. i didn't run it wide open because the wires & power amps were getting hot but, even so, the space shuttle taking off provided 115 decibels of acoustic power 20 feet away from the speakers. not as loud as "Disaster Area" (see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) but impressive anyway.

  • @DrPlasmator Awesome! Wish I could hear it on your system... HotBlack Desiato would be proud!

  • 00:29 to 00:31..Did he say "Big Penis"?

  • fantastic

  • It's simply amazing we can get such a massive vehicle to go from 0 to mach 1 in 42 seconds...vertically

    Great video, thanks for sharing

  • After seeing this, it's just sad they won't use shuttles again.

  • Are we there yet?

Another two minutes and we will be.

    LOL! God bless!

  • I've got no word... simply amazing... Thank you very much for this video and audio too

  • Thanks to Mr. Obama, we have ridiculously high fuel prices. It's no wonder the Shuttle program was ended. Remember, he did what he promised- made energy prices skyrocket. And now the Shuttles never will again. What a shame.

  • @captainpicard1701e from an outside perspective, he's up there with the better presidents. He had an unfortunate environment for his term too.

  • This was great! Thanks!!!

  • Watched this one from the TV in a hotel lobby in washington DC, it was fourth of july i believe.

  • I can't thank you enough for posting this video! I grew up in Fl and remember at school going outside (As a class) Looking skyward and feeling the love our presidents had for this program. I felt so free even at 10 Years old. It was amazing! We moved to the beach. Watching the Shuttle Blast off and Flame bounce off the ocean is indescribable. I had a chance to go back "Home" for the final launch. It was like watching my childhood die and fly to Heaven. Thank YOU indiegun for the memories!

  • Beautiful! Engineering at its best.

  • That shot at 1:51 is fantastic, not often you get a clip that really shows how fast its accelerating! Awesome!

  • I was supposed to see the second to last launch, STS-134, which I think was either Endeavor or Discovery. But something went wrong and it didn't launch the day I went. I was never able to make it to another launch. Now with the end of the shuttle program, I never will and never did get to see a shuttle launch in person. I am EXTREMELY disappointed. All I can do is watch videos like this on youtube. Just thought I'd let you know you're not alone!

  • 2:17 is this breaking the sound barrier?

  • @railroadmovie 2:22 actually

  • I wish this could be done with the Saturn V have tried to see a shuttle launch twice but never saw it thanks for this video.

  • i would hate to fill that bad boy up with fuel :L

  • too bad we will never see this again.

  • Wow!!!!

  • Who ever disliked this video makes me wonder what the feature of humans is going to be like -,-

  • The sleek and simplistic look of the space shuttle is amazing. I hope one day to have the honor of piloting any of the new spacecraft that NASA builds... or maybe even a private company! :)

  • Great video! What year was this video of a launch? We went to Fla. in 2005 to see Discovery's "Return to Flight" launch, as our friend Jim Kelly was the pilot. Alas, the mission was scrubbed as we were literally on the VIP guest bus headed to the launch. It launched 2 weeks later without us there. But this video gives me a small taste of what it might have been like to experience in person. Thanks!

  • My speaker system has a function which turns off the PAs should they be exposed to speaker-blowing conditions. This is why at 1:55 , my sounds suddenly died. I looked at the display and it said "Pwr-off DNGR"......... it was actually quite awesome!!!

  • If you can feel the sound in your chest, you've almost got the volume high enough. If you can't turn it up enough to feel it in your chest, go buy new speakers.

  • @lionfire17 You said it! Play it loud - play it proud!

  • @lionfire17 I watched a video of a launch like this in one of my friends cinema in his house with the volume turned up, the house started vibrating because of the speakers :L

  • see this beats , rally,nascar,F1,drags,sprint cars everything :)

  • It is so cool to watch the flames burn so hot that they turn white under the rocket right before it takes off.

  • See all that white vapor...thats what it is....H2O....Water Vapor is the exhaust gas of most of the shuttles power-producing fuel.

  • @cameronwick shuttle's*

  • Fucking brilliant........PLAY IT LOUD

  • Amazing video. Thanks for posting))))

  • oh my God... 1:29 ... what a beautiful sound :O

  • Why would anyone dislike this video??

  • Thank you for posting this!!!

  • The awesomeness of this is one of the few reasons why i still have hope for us humans...

And then i notice that ´´How to Put on a Condom´´ has 10 times as many views as this video...

    Oh crap.

  • WOW

  • mannnnnnnnnnn i love itttt....

  • I cant ask for better than this ........ :)

  • This is by far the best video I have seen of this kind. Great capture! Love this video. Thanks for sharing it : )

  • 2:18 condensation cloud. Awesome.

  • My 2 y/o loves this turned all the way up. He claps right along with everyone else at launch. Thanks!!

  • I was at the first two shuttle glide tests. I was at the first, second, third, fifth and 26th (RIP 25th) landings at Edwards. (thanks Harry Hughes).

  • If this doesn't stir a profound feeling of awe and faith in the United States as the bastion of exploration... then... your name is Barak Obama!

  • such an epic video, so cool.

  • How do they track the shuttle so well when it's already so far up while zoomed into? I'd think they're would be a lot of shaking and movement. Are the cameras gyro-stabilizing with some tracking software or just really good hands?

  • @VideoRoom207 tripod

  • @VideoRoom207 According to Matt Melis and Kevin Burke (NASA aerospace engineers) the footage in this video of the Shuttle during SRB Separation is the closest POV from the ground ever filmed. It was done using a 150 inch Brashear lens (4000 mm) based more than 20 miles north of the launchpad with only human hands at the controls. I wouldn't doubt that stabilization software might have been at work here but in essence it was a real person at the controls the whole time. Amazing...

  • So amazing! I've such similar footage many times but when you watch this in 1080p you are really taken back and remember how much engineering when into all that and how far mankind has come from sticks and stones.

  • Great video!! Seriously, I've probably watched it ten times by now.

  • It was a worthwhile experience, thanks to USA' Rocketers, fantastic job U made */* Yeah Lift off ;-)

  • This is some of the best non-IMAX shuttle launch footage I've seen!

  • Maximum orgasm!!!

  • If aliens ARE watching us, I sure hope they saw this.

  • This is sooooo cool. did a great job on this. Thanks!!!

  • I watched this video with tears in my eyes, since the audio so perfectly resurrected my memory of watching (and hearing) STS-5 from the press site on November 11, 1982. Thank you for posting this remarkable video.

  • @davidamills Thanks David. When I made this it was admittedly (primarily) so that I could experience it myself. However, after reading your comment and so many other wonderful ones like it I now realize just how much this video means to people all over the world. Thanks for making my day!

  • @davidamills I need speakers that go to ELEVEN!!!

  • ive seen alot of shuttle videos here on youtube but this would have to rate as one of the best ive ever seen.Well done mate thanks for sharing. Its a real shame there will be no more...

  • Very possibly the coolest thing in the world.

  • @DTHRocket

Very possibly the coolest comment yet.

  • I want to be on board that thing more than I can put into words.

  • The explosion at 1:29 of the igniting of the cones gets me all the time, love that sound in HD

  • This is amazing, but I'm glad they cancelled it. It's time for the private sector to take over.

  • @Jinmane What are you talking about?

I completely disagree. The exploration of space must not be a private enterprise, it must be an international one.

  • @BasilFawlty4444 I meant the private sector should provide launch capability, not exploration. Once we have reusable launch technology, space exploration will be much more economically viable. There are proposals already to utilise SpaceX technology for a relatively inexpensive Mars mission. In fact, the company was founded with the ultimate goal of shipping people and cargo to a permanent Martial colony.

  • Fuck Obama, cancelling this program and shit.

  • Beautiful. What a fricking ride that must be.

  • REALLY terrific, thanks so much for posting this. I witnessed a launch as a VIP (ha!!) on an IBM Study Tour many years ago. Then I could not believe the sound and associated body shaking force field that I felt that day. I always hoped I could witness one again.

This gets some way, but I need way, way more power in my speakers!!

  • thanks for original audio, but... sonic boom is not audible ? (my english is bad i know)

  • Just imagining that there are human beings.. me.. you.. sitting on that going to space.. incredible. WHY are we not doing this more then trying to kill people on the other side of the earth? Stupid.. stupid.. stupid.

  • Great video, thanks!

  • USA! (y)

  • im wondering, how much PX that could be o.O

  • awesome, gave me chills.

though I have to ask, is the crackling a real effect or is it the microphone struggling to cope with the bass?

never got to see a launch myself so I don't know ?

  • @NikolaiTunguska The crackling effect is real, I was at the launch of STS-135 and it does sound like that.

  • YEEEE--HAWWWWW .....boogidy boogidy boogidy !!!!

  • I can't help to think God is looking down at us like a father to son and saying, "I'm Proud of You". Keep looking outside of the glass! The sound and video are incredible, Thank You!

  • I saw STS-135 go up and this is exactly what it sounds like, even down to the crackle of the boosters

    A+ video

  • This makes me proud to be a human fucking being.

  • @beattles93 AMEN

  • I pooped a little...

  • I am one of those who dreamt! Great video Mr Gun!

  • I was able to show this to my students. Thank you!

  • the only reason anybody would dislike this vid is cuz it was too short we want more! lol awesome vid man thanks for posting

  • What an AWESOME video, you sure did a great job of capturing this on video! I had lived in Florida for two years back in 2001-2003 and even though I lived on the Gulf side, I was lucky enough to see the smoke cloud when they took off back then.

  • lol at the car alarm at 2:37

  • I was lucky enough to witness, photograph and shoot video of 7 launches. This is better quality than you can get from being there in person, unless you were practically on the pad!

  • @johnschaser

Thanks John - that means a lot coming from someone with your experience...

  • AWESOME!!! It is THE BEST way to test your SPEAKERS.....

  • Houston....negative return!!!

  • sonic boom ? 2:18

  • Best video of a take off on YouTube I've ever seen fantastic tanks for sharing.

  • I LOVE TO WATCH THIS

  • Awesome!!!

  • Yep, it's loud, the SUB helps. Just pissed off my neighbors in my apt!!!! Ha ha great video.

  • I watched this with with 2Watt USB Laptop speakers and it still was awesome :)

  • i've been there at kennedy space station, everybody should see this before they die, epic and amazing.

  • @k4n3n1

Thanks! I agree - it should be on humanity's 'required viewing' list...

  • dude ya'll did a great job mann, got that real feeling like i was standing there , just great man thx !!!!

  • Can someone help me, I can' seem to find the LOVE button!!!

  • the 8 person that dislike this video were from Russia XD

  • Good video. No need to "try again" this was good. Thanks

  • @Chrisdenancy

It's not about just being 'louder' than other videos. There are a whole lot of elements here that are subtle, informative and historically important. No real need to 'try again' as you suggest. If something is lacking feel free to post your own shuttle launch video.

  • I really enjoyed your video. I myself got to view a launch of Discovery from one of the "VIP viewing areas". When I found out we'd be 3.5 miles away from the pad, I was disappointed, until the "rattling" noise started (don't know how better to describe it) (really becomes pronounced starting around 1:50), which I think was individual acoustic shock waves coming several times/second that HURT my ears. 3.5 miles away was plenty close with no ear protection, but it's still amazing how loud it was.

  • @leisulin

The other thing that really struck me was how bright the exhaust flame from the solid rocket boosters is. You never get a true impression of it on video. It was sun-bright. If you stared at the flame and then looked away, it left a clear afterimage, even with your eyes already adjusted to broad daylight.

  • Not the best audio. Some videos are louder. Try again ! Anyway, thanks for the post

  • Cracking Pop Corns !!
